If you answered yes to any of the above, then you might be a player candidate for:

SysNES2 is a systems-driven, hard science-fiction game concerning the story of a struggle for hegemony in an obscure part of human space! We're four updates in with a fifth one on the way and we've got an open spot! In addition, due to a prior lack of player involvement, the faction in question is capable of being redesigned to fit your interests and desires! There is no better time to join than today!

Then come on over to the thread! It's comprehensively organized and all the information you could want is or soon will be at your fingertips! It might look intimidating at first but the manual is really quite helpful, and current players are always available at our chatroom, #nes, if you want to know more. Please private message our fearless game moderator, Disenfrancised, post in the thread, or come chat with us if you're interested in playing!

Thank you!

Beneath the Jade Moon is a "lords and lands" NES set in a fictional world. In terms of technology levels, it is analogous to medieval Europe in many ways, but there are some clear differences. The world has been richly detailed, region-by-region, with a comprehensive history developing. Read over the thread for more information. There is a tinge of the fantastical to this world, though it is not overtly a fantasy NES.

In terms of player types, I am looking for competent world-builders and imaginative minds. Being able to world-build with others is a must, as well as having a grasp of basic NES rules. You not only have the opportunity to create a house and its history, but also potentially influence the makeup and history of the region surrounding you (while tying it all in with already-approved lore).

The realm itself is the sociopolitical child of Luseysi "the Pale", the first emperor of the Aulesiri, divine soul of the moon, and the pilgrim of pilgrims who guided the world's dominant race from the ashes of Euleshun to the green shores of Jyotnun (and beyond). Since Luseysi's time, the realm has seen many emperors come and go, as well as the passing of dramatically different eras: from the initial euphoria of a new land and discovery of its fruits, to a time of native enslavement, Aulesiri dominance, and the establishment of family roots; from a time of religious oppression and a solemn spiritual code, to five decades of strife and the usurping of the throne by a corrupt emperor's brother . . . the realm survives yet, but now in varied shades and rattled spheres of influence. You thus play the role of one of the many lords vying for the sweet nectar of power.

Post an application as soon as possible, if you are interested. The NES is not far from launching. This NES is not for the faint of heart; read the thread and absorb it. If you contain a shred of sincerity in your desire to join our budding world and shape it into something even more interesting than it already is, then you will be welcomed with open arms. Here is the thread.

Oh, and click here for somewhat updated (though obviously not yet complete) maps.

Many open spots available in The Civil Experiment. The top tier dawgs are rather unstable, but lots of regional, secondary, and specialized entities, be they states, organizations or barbaric hordes, are available. Read it yourself, or throw me a PM with what you truly desire.

Plenty of space available in Foundry of Nations (link and description in sig). Get in before it starts.

My NES, Six-Months War; Take 4 is an need of some new players. Regardless of experience NESing, there are a large number of nations that I'd like to see filled up by a player.

Spoiler :

For players that like to start out as an established (if a bit secondary) colonial power status

Portugal and Denmark are open.

For players that wish to try their hand as a regional power, with room to grow an expand

I'd love to have someone take Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, Siam or Romania!

For players that are looking for an interesting situation to develop and fully customize their nation

Try out Transvaal, the Far Eastern Russian Republic, Ireland or Bulgaria.

If you just want to jump right into things, and see how well you measure up against other NESers

Take a Chinese Warlord Clique. Several are still available; pick one up, and see how far you can take your region.

If you don't like any of those, I'm sure there is a nation I can recommend if you tell me what you're looking for. I'm happy to answer any questions about my NES, or specifics about the open nations.

As Japan, I can guarantee the FERR is safe unless you try to be my enemy.

KaralysiaLord of ElvesGamez is KaralysiaLord of ElvesGamez.

I can attest to the NES's quality through stringent lurking.

I'll take that as a rite of passage. :p

But seriously, to somebody who's not paying attention, the FERR might look threatened by Japan. It's really not, unless a potential FERR player does something stupid. That said, I highly recommend people joining in the Chinese Civil War. It will give me people to talk to other then the mod.

Terrence, why don't you join up? it'll be REAL fun.

*cracks whip*

Seriously, though, at this point, terrence, you could probably run rings around me. :p

Well, I have never taken a super power and ran with it. I usually took regional/small powers. I took Ottomans once, and trained up a set of Neo-Janissaries for Austria, but the NES ended before I can challenge them.

Soon (within the next two weeks), I'll be doing a reboot of Core.
Not a nations based game, but a RP-based individual character.
In a self contained and really screwed up city.
This time with electricity and fuel.

So I'm thinking about a return to the forum after several months of really not following NESing at all.. Can anyone recommend me a good NES with open spots which could help me get back into it?

Beneath the Jade Moon. You are more than welcome to join. At this point, you can even do some minor world-building. The NES is about to start; I am finishing up player profiles and wiki entries (see the wiki link in my signature). The setup process is pretty involved, but I think you can handle it. It actually doesn't have to be involved: you could just post a proposal along with a paragraph or two of history, and I can turn it into a more nuanced profile. Some players did this, while others were more elaborate in their initial proposal. It's really up to you and what you want to put into it.

There is a lot to explain about the NES, so it's perhaps best you go to the Wiki. Start with "History" + "Religion" categories to get yourself acquainted. Additionally, the OP has some relevant introductory material (though somewhat outdated). I can always assist you with any questions you might have, along with other players.

Borders Map

(See OP for trade and biome map.)

^ You would get to add your house and holdings to these maps. Or, you could take a preexisting NPC. Note: the southern half of the easternmost continent is off-limits. We are really looking for more players to occupy the area north of House Godhart. But feel free to jump in wherever if you have a good proposal.

The Above is Recommended.

Also, try my NES. Previous bad experiences will (not? is there supposed to be a not here?) affect play experience. I have no good major powers left, although there are unstable rising empires and unstable crumbling ones. I have plenty of secondary and specialized powers, however. Also, the Mississippi player just left, and there are interesting options there as well. PM me for details, or for NPC suggestions with a set of criteria, or with a new NPC/Barbarian/Horde group.

EDITOOC: I am seriously reliving the past at this point in time. I think it has to do with me getting punched in the spine. :3

Warning: I am going to shamelessly advertise my own NES. In repentance, I will also shamelessly advertise other NESes.

Here's a few NESes that I've had experience with that you might want to have a look at, from least to most complex (and therefore easier or harder to 'get into'):

Eltain's pre-NES minigames - pretty much pure worldbuilding for the future NES, and good fun.
Iggy's GalaxyNES is completely story oriented. Time-consuming, but no long rulesets to memorise.
Terrance's NES - up to update 17, still going strong, and with plenty of interesting NPCs or open areas to choose from.
My NES still hasn't had its update 0, but it should be on its way later today and if you want to get in on it after that, I'd be happy to have more players.
SMW4 by TLK is an excellent twentieth-century NES and well worth looking at. Protip: warkers are tanks.
Starlife's Beneath the Jade Moon hasn't started yet, but its world is already impressively fleshed out and detailed.

Firstly I would like to thank all of you who have complimented or otherwise recommended my NES. I have been working fairly hard on it, so it's nice to know it's being received well! Past that, Ekolite, I'd be happy to have you. I have been attempting to run a "in the middle NES", where the players are free to largely do as they wish with their nations, so long as it fits with established IC things, as opposed to other NES's (well, I guess IOTs) that may give the player absolute freedom in what they wish to do, or NES's that restrict/restrain players.

I have a lot of builder nations open, and a few nations with potentials to be regional powers as well. If you (or anyone reading this) is interested in perhaps joining, you can send me a PM and state what you'd like in a nation, or any questions you have, and we can go off from there.

For me, more than anything, and Never Ending Story is just that; a story. While players have the ultimate goal of "winning" or establishing themselves as a power in the game, I am hoping especially for players that delve into the "world" of SMW4. So stories, or other cannon material, such as pictures and flags are highly enjoyed and appreciated. So for players that wish to dabble in expanding their nation's culture, or IC canon, I will more than welcome you.

I also am not in many other NES's to offer my opinion on; moderating mine, and commitment to EQNES is all I can really manage.

This thread is for shameless advertizing. :p

On that note, in terms of mechanics, I'd actually say my NES is in between GalaxyNES and TerraNES. The actual gameplay mechanics of Jade Moon are incredibly fundamental and simple.
