OptNES: Blueprint Humanity [Map Creation Thread]

Sirin sat upon his throne of skulls as yet another person came to beg forgiveness. "That is what all these people asked. I eventually killed them because they stopped screaming. Why should you be any different?" Sirin asked. The man began... "If I beat you in a game of chance..." and was rudely interrupted. "No games of chance. How do you want to die old man?" "Thing is sir, I don't want to die." "You made yet another mistake old man." "How about this," asked the old man. "how about this. I play a game of crush and mutilate with you. You teleport two grown men in and we mutilate them attempting to keep them alive and concious at the same time. If I lose, you will have me to play with as you please. If I win, I become immortal. What say you oh great immortal?" "I accept your offer foolish mortal." Sirin snapped his fingers and two grown men around the same size appeared in the room. They looked around and then saw Sirin on top of the throne of skulls. "What did we do?" asked the one to the other. "I don't know. Who are you anyways? I was walking home from the fields and suddenly I'm here..."
"Begin a voice boomed in the distance and the competition began. Sirin decided to toy with the old man and kept his subject on the brink of death or unconsciousness with every move he made. The man, surprisingly, was able to keep up with him. So Sirin tried harder. The man then picked up the pace too. They went on with the men screaming in pain for 6 days and 6 nights until finally the old man won. "I knew I would win. Now give me my immortality. Sirin obliged and the old man released the very well wrought illusion to see a perfectly fine man standing there in the place of a mutilated a dying one. "But how?" Sirin asked. The old man replied "An illusion so deftly made that it fooled even a god. I shall name myself Brokin God of trickery and lies!" The old man walked out of the throne room with an astonished and incredibly angry Sirin left inside.
The old man was never seen again, but Brokin was. No one knows Brokin's true form.

Years ago, I was foolish. I wished for total balance of everything. I thought that everything in existence had to have an opposite, that every right must be balanced out by a wrong. It is only now that I realize how short-sighted I was. There is no shortage of inequalities, and no matter how much I try, it is still impossible for total equality in the universe. Still, I have committed myself to this goal, and I will see it through to either its end or my own.

J8: Coastline continues from top-left corner to bottom right, with a Venetian Lagoon-esque enclosed bay.

The front page is now up-to-date with this turn's orders to this point.

All of the great deities have their squabbles and petty feuds. Few, however, are as legendary as the conflict between the God of Law and the God of the Dead.

The conflict began over the question of judgement of the dead. Verteig felt cheated by the House of the Sky, as Aramsaran had been given the right to rule over the punishment or pleasures given to humans in the afterlife. Verteig went to Aramsaran and demanded that the right to judge the dead be given to him, as the affairs of the dead belong to him and him alone. Aramsan refused, stating that Law is his domain and not even death is enough to separate him from his appointed task. Malar, always the voice of reason, reasoned that the claim had the ring of fairness, as Aramsan was still free to dispense judgement among the living, whereas Verteig could not. Aramsan, however, violently refused the claim, threatening to raze the realm of the dead fifty times over before he let Verteig pass judgement on a single soul. Malar, fearing the chaos that would ensue following the destruction of the underworld, suggested that a third party should pass judgement. Grumbling, the two Gods accepted this proposition.

To create this third party, Verteig reached down to the Earth and took a piece of impure bronze. Breaking it in two, he dropped the pieces on the ground, which grew and morphed into two humanoid beings, fused mixtures of flesh and bronze. The first figure, tall and pleasant looking was given the name Staacen, while the second figure, hunched and distorted, was given the name Strocorr. Aramsaran completed the process by giving the creatures the ability to judge right and wrong as he would. Verteig explained that these Judges would decided what fates awaited the souls of the dead, with Staacen tasked with rewarding the good and Strocorr tasked with punishing the wicked. Verteig then left the House of the Skies with the two Judges to reenter the realm to the dead, never to return.

Despite the outcome, mutual distrust still lingered between the two Gods. Aramsaran, suspicious of the crafty deity, believed that the Judges were merely avatars for Verteig to use and Verteig secretly passed judgement on the dead regardless of the arrangement. Verteig had no such issues with the outcome, but he still remained wary of Aramsaran's threat to destroy the realm of the dead.

It would not be the last time the two came to blows.

Spoiler :
I used some other Gods in this, so let me know if you don't like the way I portrayed you. I don't want to step on any toes. :p

I didn't kill this, did I? :hide:

Nope. :) Update ETA was still today, I just didn't get time yesterday to do it early.

I DID kill it! :run:

Nope. Update should be up in a couple of hours. Apologies for the lateness, RL got crowded and/or I wasn't in the mood to update when I did have time. :)

I have a proposal for you. Can I play Nuepa/Vuxpa--the schizophrenic offspring of X'ryk'zyx who is the Goddess of Day/Night?

@nutra: Fine by me. :)

@all: I've done the map, and the update should be done by the end of the day.

Cool, should I wait till the next update to post?

Post RP if you'd like to, but yeah, I'd prefer orders to wait until next turnset since I've already done the map. :)

Update 4
Medicum Etiam Adepto In Compendium Titulos*

The indigenous people of [withheld] eventually found a home. An island in the west had, for the moment, escaped the attentions of the gods; the island was given the name Chakon, or Safety. Its people were later named the Chakii, accordingly. They worship the Tridomic gods, but they are not the same people as we are. We share many features and customs, but we of the mainland are separate from the islanders.

At any rate, the gods' squabbles and creations were to leave the land of [withheld] without inhabitants for many years to come; and in the absence of people, many wondrous sights arose. On the south coast of the mainland, a great open lagoon formed, and east of it, the goddess Moust created her namesake Columns. She was to join the ranks of the Gods of the Deeps, and we even now pray to her when childbirth is near, to ward off any misfortunes.

Siri created a wondrous series of tidepools and lagoons on the north coast; in addition, land rose up at the command of the god Lorr between two previously separate landmasses in the near west, creating a large natural harbour, only made more sheltered by the great rocks created by Pa'az. At midday, one can still travel there and see the sun shining off a huge flat part of the eastern rock; only fitting for the sun god's creation. In the far southeast, Takarzi was responsible for the creation of an atoll, a place of rough, wild, violent beauty.

The gods were tiring of the separation of land and sea, though, and were dreaming of more complex ways to play with their dawning world.
