Has anybody else been watching this Netflix series? I just got into it and I'm now into the middle of the second season. I think it is quite good. It has a certain amount in common with Breaking Bad in that it deals with topics that might get a great deal of vocal criticism if a network produced the series.

Now one of the stars, Uzo Aduba, has just won an Emmy for her role as "Crazy Eyes".

I can't really post any clips because the show contains a great deal of profanity, sexuality, nudity, and all that other good stuff which is contrary to the forum rules. Look on Youtube if you are curious.

I watched s1.

I thought it was the definition of a "mediocre" tv show. It was good sometimes (never great), was never really bad, was fresh enough, isn't any big commitment timewise nor attention span wise (e.g. don't have to devote 100% attention to get entertainment out of it), decent actors, occasionally funny.

anyways gotta grow a moustache.

I managed about half of the first episode and gave up. I won't waste my time on this, even for Kate Mulgrew.

Kate is fantastic as Red. She has a very prominent role.

The first season wasn't bad. The second season was just a rehash of Hogan's Heroes interspersed with unbelievable relationships and meaningless sexual titillation.

Last year, Netflix entered the show in the drama category of the Emmys, this year they put in the comedy category, which is appropriate given the show has become a joke.

It does seem to be getting more and more wacky now that I'm into the second season. Too bad.

Critically, I think House of Cards is the better of the Netflix shows.

Lillyhammer was also pretty good, but it knew it was absurd to begin with.

Next month Netflix releases the next season of the Killing. That is a really, really good show.

I liked Hemlock Grove, but I am probably the only person that did. I wouldn't recommend it to people.

Still working on the second season.

It's one of my favorite shows of all time.

I've almost finished the first series.

It is a good programme to watch but nowhere near the typical TV greats of the past few years. It is probably worthwhile to view if you haven't seen it.

It might be just me, but it has a definite anti-male bias in the whole programme. It doesn't harm the quality of each episode but every man is portrayed as seriously defective in some way. All the female prisoners are portrayed as victims, they all have hardluck stories like a bad childhood or a mean mother. The mustachied guard is basically a cartoon character not something you would find in real life.

I thought it was utterly amazing. Their schtick "here's a fish out of water, interacting with stereotypes" was pretty fun, and then whabam! all those stereotypes ended up having real personalities. s2 e3 was the Crazy Eyes story, and I was on the edge of my seat ready to rage-throw the remote at the TV the whole time. I never did, but I thought I was gonna wanna.

It might go downhill, but I think that's only because of how good s1 was. I think it will be nearly impossible to beat the season finale of s1. There's no way they can hit it out of the park like s1 did again.

I don't like House of Cards for the same reason I don't like Breaking Bad or Mad Men. I don't like watching an evil protagonist.

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggg

It's a watered down, and stupid, version of "Oz". That show actually made you think. This just finds you waiting impatiently for the random shower scene.

The most redeeming quality about this show is that Jason Biggs found work.

My wife started it and it grew on me via osmosis. We have now watched all the way to the end of season 2 and I think it is a great, funny and smart show.

Pretty much this. Though I'd call that a "good" show rather than mediocre. I like watching it to unwind after work - it requires just the right amount of brain power for that 9-10pm slot after computer games and before bed.

My girlfriend talked me into watching it with her several months ago and I must say I loved the show. It's hard to point at exactly what it is that I liked, but I just really liked it. I think one thing that I liked is that I find that I can often relate with the female characters, something I've rarely come across in a show before.

I almost never have the patience to sit and watch something longer than a South Park episode, so I was very impressed that OItNB was able to hold my attention so well.

This honestly hasn't bothered me. Probably for two reasons:
1) In the second season many of the women start to appear somewhat darker as we get to know them past their backstory.
2) All the men in the show are prison guards, I don't really expect anything good from them. Also Larry starts to get his ish together and be less annoying.

I didn't notice any anti-male bias. I do agree though that there are a few too many hard-luck stories. I'm still on season 1 though so I'm looking forward to the darker side that NCC-1701 talks about.
