OT improvement suggestions

I do remember that thread. You might note I voted in the poll. :p

Seriously, it isn't like it's self-serving. I'm in the top 50 or so posters, I think...

Id suggest even higher i think!

I just thought of something I believe could greatly improve the quality of OT. Ban spin-off threads. They're like movie sequels, but guarateed to be much much worse than the original unlike the occasional good movie sequel.

Actually, thinking about it, couldn't we make OT not count towards postcount?

That has been suggested before I believe and shot down each time. Although I'm all for it.

Dare I suggest an ulterior motive hiding in this suggestion? For if OT were to be made non-postcount, the PC of users like Perfection would be wiped out, and you and your NESing chums would have by far the highest postcounts on the site. :hmm:

NES shouldn't be postcount, anyways. I fail to see what taking away the join date would do.

I personally think it is ridiculus that post count doesn't equal every post you have ever posted!

CFC is a diverse community of posters that cross pollinate throughout the many fora and it's strength is in that diversity and wide participation.

Evolution solves everything!

Who cares, I am in the top 20. :p

Anything not related to the civ forums shouldn't have PC really.

QFT.

Interesting that in that late-2005 poll only one mod voted in favor of keeping postcounts visible. I'd vote no as well, though I think making the whole Colosseum PC-free is an even better idea - my own PC would drop to under a thousand I think.

I'd only lose a couple hundred postcount if OT and NES didn't count. It's possible to build a reputation and make solid contributions in the area the site was created for in the first place. :p

As for improving OT, take away the senseless spam and personal attacks and add toleration for the less well informed segment of the population, and it's not that bad a place.
