OT improvise rule

Pfff, please take it easy AoA! Don't take it personal!

There is no way I wanna make you look bad.
I DO have some questions with the 'modding rules'. And I'm certainly NOT the only one!

About these rules:
If you thought about it, you wouldn't.

I DID think about it. A lot of posters got the feeling it's a bit unclear now! I really hope mods will take a serious look at it! That is the point here I think. IMHO this feedback forum is there to discuss these things.

And this:
No offense Sultan, If you really believe that your an imbecile" in reference to calling the US President a INTERNATIONAL TERRORIST.

IMHO this still sounds worse than insulting a nation leader.
It's the way I see it: I don't feel so bad with 'leader (or country)bashing'.

I feel anyone is free to think anyway about any leader. So no one can be an imbecile for that.

About the ban: I really got that wrong I guess :(

Do they now?

And just who did I "moderate"?

Nobody is the answer, Lefty banned Tassadar for deliberatley saying Bush is a dictator again, just to be defiant, as did Red Tom.

Who was warned?

Nobody, the only warning I issued in the last two days is for Curt not to use poster's names in posts, and Nixon not to call people morons, and in NEITHER case did this concern ANY thread I had posted in.

Facious arguments I see here.

The thing is, I took the "Imbecile" thing the wrong way, because it came after a quote in which I said I didn't think the shirt advocated anything. So instead of thinking "If you think Bush is a terrorist you're an imbecile" I was thinking "if you think the shirt doesn't advocate any course of action you're an imbecile" which indeed, I had just said I didn't think so, so for awhile- until we cleared up via PM- I thought I was an imbecile.

That's the problem with loaded terms like imbecile when they come up, the forums have plenty of smileys but it is still not always clear what people mean. Probably its better not to insult leaders, nations, or posters but to attack their arguments/positions. That is why we are being reminded of the trolling rule, and I think naming the sticky the way it was named was a good idea because it obviously got the attention of the people who needed to see it.

Rather childish to take quotes out of context, now isn't it?

Childish? I'm not the one resorting to the playground politics of name calling.

As for taking your quotes out of context, there isn't any context at all that can justify the use of this derogitory language (especially in light of the fact that the very forum rules you've been honored with enforcing prohibit the same) when calling someone "stupid" or an "imbicile." So the lack of context is irrelevent. An insult is an insult.

Or is that to "immpolite" for you.

This attitude can be labled Exhibit A, as to one of the reasons OT is awash with flames and trolls. All leaders do so by example, and the example of your leadership is all too apparent in OT. I would ask that you tone down your need to insult those who post views in opposition to yours, as the spirit and letter of the law in the forum rules requires. Or is that too "bleeding heart" for you?

I never even seen that warning!

But the whack is taken and understood, all the same!

An oversight on my part.
:)

I have YET to see a SINGLE post that called Chirac or Schoerder a dictator, or called either nations terrorist aggessors.

It is a fact they disagree with US, saying so, and that their reasons for doing so are suspect isn't bashing.

Well, Alcibiaties, there is a post where you say that Allende (democraticly elected, the same as Bush or Chirac) was scum and as bad as Pinochet (a dictator).

Don't you think that statement could be as offensive for Chileans as saying Bush is a dictator for the Americans? Isn't that trolling?

Exactly, to enforce the rules you must follow them IMO.

Here's a compromise, everyone just shut up, or hush up to those who might be offended by shut up, let us moderators do our job, while u posters try and do your very best to stay out of trouble, and if u think u were unfairly banned, send a Private Messege aka PM to Thunderfall aka TF.
I think everyone should be willing to accept these terms....alright?

Yes sire;)

SunTzu, isn't that the normal procedure anyway? And contact with the mod that banned you should be made first before you decide to take it to TF?

yeah it is, but obviously these people don't know that.

We all want these forums to work the best as possible.

Is not the feedback forum a place to debate things that could be improved? That's what "these" people was doing. It was a constructive debate, not just a destructive critic of the moderators.

It's my belief that this is just complaining.
And us moderators and TF know whats best for this site, these forums are working great with the exception of people who make it their duty to screw up and cause trouble in the forums.

what, by expressing views that are NOTHING to do with this site in a reasonable manner that happen to clash with the mods own views on same subject? thats causing trouble? jeez....
