Vanilla 1.29

Turn order: (Full)
1) Plutonium239
2) Pragma
3) Coroner (first game of Civ3 and it's a SG! :goodjob: )

1 or 2 more players are welcome to join.

bewareofgnomes is on the bench due to scratched CD.

Civ is Persia. Difficulty is warlord.

24/48 Got it/post save and turn log.

10 turns per after start. (although I'm open to 20 turn intervals if everyone prefers)

4000BC (1)
Settled on start position (hill). Begin warrior. Worker S to road and irrigate cattle.
Start location has a cow and a river but also has some desert. Pretty good location.
(InterTurn) Begin researching Pottery. Set economy to 0.10.0. Will have Pottery in 10 turns.

3950BC (2)
Worker begins road.

3900BC (3)
Waiting

3850BC (4)
Worker begins irrigation.

3080BC (5)
Warrior finished, begin warrior. Warrior SW

3750BC (6)
Worker NE to bonus grass. Warrior S.

3700BC (7)
Warrior S to look from the hilltop and spots Wines. Worker begins road.

3650BC (8)
Warrior S to look from mountaintop, spots wheat and large expanse of jungle.

3600BC (9)
Persepolis finishes warrior, starts warrior. Worker begins mine. W1 W. W2 uses road to go 2 tiles SE. Pottery in one, 2.8.0.
(IT) Researched Pottery, start researching the Wheel. back to 0.10.0.

3550BC (10)
W1 NW to hill. W2 SE to hill.
(IT) Persepolis border expands, revealing incense to the east.

3500BC (11)
W1 W, sees cow. W2 SE, sees more incense.

3450BC (12)
Persepolis Warrior->Granary. Warrior 3 is going to scout what looks to be a small peninsula right next to Persepolis, won't go far. W2 pops hut and gets barbs. Change mind, W3 will wait to see if W2 needs help with barbs, moves 1 tile S. W1 S. Worker W.
(IT) W2 kills all 3 barbs without getting injured and is promoted to Elite.

3400BC (13)
W1 SW, spots game by cow and a fish. This is a land bridge tile that can work a cow, a game, and a fish, might be an important chokepoint. W2 NE, spots more incense, sees that jungle is really quite big. W3 SW. Worker begins road.

3350BC (14)
W1 W to mountain, sees hut and Red (Rome?) border, gonna need those immortals. :D W2 E, more jungle. W3 W.

3300BC (15)
W1 NW. W2 N. W3 W. Worker begins irrigation.

3250BC (16)
W1 NW, pops hut for Ceremonial Burial. Hammurabi (it is Babylon not Rome) gives us Warrior Code and his entire treasury of 10 gold for Masonry. We have 23 gold now. W2 E. W3 NW, it's not a peninsula but a back route through desert to Babylon. Note- Babylon has a beautiful start location. We'll have to take it from them. ;) Land grab first though.

3200BC (17)
W1 N. W2 S. W3 N, will head back now. Worker S to forest, will begin chopping next turn. Granary in 5 so forest will be chopped at beginning of second turn of settler building to add the 10 shields to that. Forest is on grassland, hopefully bonus grass. (Forest takes 5 turns to chop for industrious workers, fyi)

3150BC (18)
W1 NW. W2 S, even more jungle. W3 SE. Worker begins chopping.

3100BC (19)
W2 spots American scout. Abe has no techs that we don't and lacks Warrior Code. He only has 10 gold so he can stay ignorant. W1 NW. W2 S. W3 S.

3050BC (20)
W1 NW. W2 S, jungle and mountains. W3 E.

Synopsis
We get the Wheel in 2. Don't forget to micromanage tech spending next turn! When the settler finishes (suggested build when Granary finishes) I suggest moving him to the landbridge near Babylon. By plopping down right on the jungle we clear that tile for free. We can grab the wines and incense in a bit, it's only warlord after all. Next player’s turn 1 is on 3000BC.

bewareofgnomes, Coroner is up after Pragma but had said he wanted to go last since it's his first game of Civ3. So unless Coroner objects I will put you between Pragma and Coroner in the line up.

Ok, I'm runnin a bit late so here it is:

3000-
W2-SE; W1-N; W3-S
The wheel completed and I started Iron Working. I'm leaving science 100% at a loss of -1 which will be absorbed by the proceeds from Zero's diplomacy. I'm going to gamble with the third warrior here to try and cover a bit more of the map.

2950-
W3-S; W1-N; W2-S
Warrior one sees the Aztec.

2900-
W3-S; W1-N; W2-S
Warrior 2 sees a lot of jungle ahead. Worker finishes clearing forest and begins a road. Start settler and garrison warrior four.

2850-
W3-S (Sees hut); W2-SW; W1-N
Warrior one crosses into Aztec territory. He apologizes for his brutish nature and offers to trade masonry for ten gold. The Aztec accept.

2800-
W1-N; W3-S; W2-SW
Warrior three pops hut and gets 25 gold. Iron Working is 11 turns away. Will continue at 100% at a -2 loss (28 gold).
Warrior two continues to wade through the jungle. Worker begins irrigation.

2750-
W2-S; W3-N; W1-NE
Sending warrior three north to escourt settler. Warriors one will continue to scout the coast to the N while warrior 2 fleshes out the area below us.

2710-
W1-N (Sees hut); W2-W (Sees Americans; W3-N
Worker to SW

2670-
W1-NE; W2-W; W3-N
Worker begins road toward next city.

2630-
W3-N; W2-W; W1-N
Warrior one pops hut and gets mysticism. Warrior two climbs a mountain for a better look at the American expansion.

2590-
W1-NE; W2-SW
I meant to take warrior two to the west but the game decided otherwise. Warrior 3 is waiting to escourt settler to location. Science still at 100% at a loss of -3 (39 gold).

Is my first time, go easy on me. :p

bewareofgnomes is up in another SG right now. bewareofgnomes or coroner is up, this will decide the turn order from now on.

bewareofgnomes and Coroner, whoever posts "Got it!" first plays next.

Glad to see the horses in our city radius. I hope we have Iron nearby too. There are a lot of mountains and hills so I imagine we do.

Remember, bewareofgnomes, when your turn comes around it's Vanilla Civ 1.29 because neither Pragma nor Coroner has PTW.

got it, will play tomorrow night. unless coronor can play sooner that is

I made up a proposed dotmap for settling. It wastes a bonus grass but makes use of the two landbridges. Any comments?

I already explained the problem with irrigated grassland in despotism to Pragma on ICQ so no need to tell him. Someone will have to fix that though.

i learned that long ago when i atomated my workers. i was actually thinking about moving those cities up, because during my turn that a played before pragma, i saw a pretty good oppurtunity to cut off America's Expansion so that we can have that entire area to ourselves. also, im not going to hook up ron during my turn and i suggest that none does as mass warrior to immortal upgread might let us win during the late ancient/ early middle ages.

Are you suggesting sending settlers on a many turn expedition to the south? That would seem to greatly slow our initial growth and America will most likely just walk right past them and settle closer to our capital.

We have very little money and have been researching aggressively. I agree making some warriors for upgrade is a good idea. I guess the question is how many warriors to produce for upgrade since we will have to free up the cash for the upgrades.

Keep in mind that the map is continents not pangea so we can't knock out all of the other civs without transports.

well, iwouldnt know as i play on standard all the time. i guess i will settle closer.

crap, something in rl just pooped up and i have to skip. i am very sorry and will tell you when i will be back
