Paradox Interactive games

Is that partly because living in Singapore you get bombarded with Japanese culture? Given that I own very few strategy games not by Paradox, Sengoku will be my first purely Japanese game.

I don't think it's my location at all. Don't you think that in Movies and TV, Japan and feudal Japan to boot, gets represented too much? I know it's very subtle but ninjas, bushido and katanas seem a lot more prevalent than Mid-autumn Festival, Rajas or Gurkhas.

Yeah, but India is underrepresented because it's freaking India. Even Indian historians don't give a rat's ass about Indian history.

Well that's a damn shame. India's got a lot of unnoticed crazy.
An India-based Total War/Paradox Interactive game would be a great way to get people interested in the period/land.

Unfortunately the game industry doesn't work that way. Excitement around theme X comes first, games come after that. The Great Northern War would make an excellent strategy game, but because it's not Napoleon or Hitler or Tokugawa or even Julius Caesar, people aren't interested.

The Great Northern War? I've never heard of that one before.

X-Post.

I'm personally interested in playing a game focusing on the Great Northern War.

Arakhor, it was a massive war between Sweden and Russia in the early 18th Century which heavily increased Russian power in the Baltics.

The French Indian War was kind of a sub-war of the Seven Years War but yeah wars do have a lot of names. Always interesting. I love how wars get names in EUIII even though the game sometimes makes odd choices (I've seen it say the result is status quo even though I took a few regions away from Castille).

I agree, it's a really simple addition to the game, yet it's like one of my favorite things about it. Just looking at the list of wars going on around the world is kind of interesting.

Actually it was more like Sweden vs everyone, as they had to fight against Denmark-Norway, Russia, Poland and Saxony.

Poland changed sides, twice. I've always found it odd how often and somewhat common it was for people to change sides in wars (more so longer ones which are usually a series of wars closely related to each other).

Just played the demo for Sengoku and I like the game, however I think it could use a few updates. A better message system would be nice (more like other pdox games), and some larger buttons (at a 16x10 res some of them are kind of small, especially when you have to right click on a portrait of a character and then select diplomacy...). Hopefully they will add mroe content to the game and I'll probably pick it up next year. The graphics are really nice though, I like the 3d terrain and the map and menus, etc. It also runs really well even at max speed. However, max speed is a little TOO FAST! And the speed before it is slightly too slow.

I recommend playing the demo, which is only 250 MBs. besides a few issues, I can't help but wonder if I'm just spoiled by EUIII having 4 expansions and multiple years since release to expand the game.

actually the game isn't all too straining on you pc memory. It doesn't even need 1GB to run.
