Yeah, college books take a gigantic bite. It's ridiculous. Most of the time you can get a chunk of the cash monies you expended when you resell them at the end of the semester. (Unless you really liked your textbooks I guess.)
I've noticed a few things about EU: Rome on this here thread and am just wondering about the cost-effectiveness and enjoyability of the game. I really liked Vicky, Ricky, and the VIP, but my favorite period of time is the post-Alexandrine Mediterranean world (big fan of Europa Barbarorum mod for RTW
) and I was wondering how well Paradox's treatment of it went. Is there less MMing than in Vicky (I really am not a huge fan of tweaking all of the POPs all the time), for example? How does the world market work (if it exists)?

Yeah but to me the dishounoring alliances thing is a bit game brekaing. I uninstalled TBH...

Just a question, has anybody managed to take france on as England at the start of the Grand Campaign (EUIII vanilla, I plan on buying NA and IN soon) and take land from them? I've tried it (a lot), and I had to go to easy (manpower) to be able to destroy them and take their lands, even then I abused the fact that Brittany was leading the alliance.
I tried a few times and lost....nowadays I just dump the french holdings early in the game and take 'em back later 
I've progressed to taking the western Half of france, abusing the vassalage system and cores (declare on vassal, take land from france, france broken, declare on next vassal you have core on, break France even more) etc Plus a nice +3 stab boost from a +15 Naval tech guy. Aragon went up in rebellion, two of their provinces flipped to me, Beat up denmark to claim Norway as part of my personal Union (and diplo annexed Scotland), this Norway has beaten up Sweden.
Only Me and Castille took QFTNW, I managed to colonise the NA coastline and beating up on the Central Americas now, short war with portugal gave me their islands (sucession crisis, Portugal or Castitle, ended up with a regency).
I truly feel like a Colossus astride Europe, its a bit boring now :/ (1520 ish)

If you have shader v2 you can play everything by Paradox at this point.
I got EU3 as a gift last week. It's the vanilla version though. I find it quite interesting although overwhelming. Anyway, I was going to get the expansion In Nominee, I mean, only 19.99$ that's cool... But then upon looking a bit deeper into it I realize you seem to need the previous expansion (Napoleon's Ambition) to be able to play it. Gaaah... Is there a bundle pack or something? I am not rich. I mean, I just bought Col II so...
Note that I'm in a similar position with GalCivII Dread Lords, which someone also gave me as a gift. Vanilla... Expansions DO come in a bundle in this case but it's still 50$ for both.
Since the beginning of gaming I've always been deeply annoyed by the concept of expansion packs. I'm an "all or nothing" kind of guy and when I buy a product, I don't like it to be "half the product and then shell more money to get more later". Jeez, I think I'd rather pay 70$ for the Vanilla version of a PC game and be told that I'll have 2 or 3 major updates for free later, instead of paying 30$ now, 20$ later, 20$ later... It's just a psychological thing I guess. Well whatever.

No, but I don't know if one will come out in the future. I'll probably get the game if one does come out.
I found out that on October 17, a bundle pack of EU3 Vanilla + NA + IN (EU3 "complete") will come out and will sell for 30$.
So personally, I'm stuck. I have EU3 Vanilla and want to play with the expansions because apparently EU3 Vanilla is appalling compared to the game with expansions.... My choices are:
1) Buy NA and IN for 20$ each (40$)
2) Wait 'til October 17th to buy EU3 vanilla (software I already have) + NA + IN FOR 30$
What?!? They make me wait needlessly. Hell if there was a 30$ kit for the two expansions available right now, I'd get it. I shouldn't have to WAIT to buy software that is already available so that I can pay less for it when that bundle includes things I already own

I found complete editions of Crusader Kings and Victoria for sale for £12 and £10. I already have the regular edition of Crusader Kings, which I bought for £5, but I never played Victoria. I thought the only way to get the expansion for Crusader Kings was to buy the download, which I think cost more than the complete edition. What does the expansion add to the game?

Installed EU2 and AGCEEP, currently playing a very interesting game as Portugal, here are some odd things that have happened:
1. Denmark is one of the richest countries on Earth, at one point only China was richer than Denmark(at that time Denmark controlled Norway, Mecklenburg, Skåne, Zeeland and Flandern and also had Sweden as a vassal). Now Sweden isn't a vassal of Denmark anymore, but Denmark has Holland, Flandern, Calais and Picardie as well as normal Danish areas and Magdeburgconfused.
2. Teutonic Order was one of the great powers of Europe, it owned the natural provinces of Teutonic Order and Livonian Order, Masovia, both Vorpommern and Hinterpommern, Brandenburg, Küstrin, Magdeburg, Hessen, Silesia, Hannover, Oldenburg and Bremen. Now, the year is 1531(I think), and Teutonic Order has only Prussia, Memel, Vorpommern and Hinterpommern.
3. Lorraine is awesome. It controls Lorraine, Switzerland, Alsace, Pfalz, Franche-Comté and Luxembourg.
4. Russia is a vassal of the Ottoman Empire.
Ottomans also control Geldre, and are allied with Mughal Empire.
5. Safavid Empire is teh awesome. It has the regular Persian provinces + Sivas, Nussaybin, Aleppo, Adana, Judea, Samaria, Jordan, Syria, Kirkuk and Iraq.
6. Mameluks are still alive as Ottoman Empire hasn't bothered on conquering them. Though they have only their capital province, Egypt, and Mekkah. Nubia has Cataract, Nile, Batn al Hajar, Nubia, Sinai and Medina. Tripolitania, Cyrenaica, Alexandria and Delta have defected to Tunisia.
7. France controls Hannover, Kleves and Münster. Don't ask me why. They also have Scotland as their vassal.
