Patch is out!!!

Yeah, I like the different yields a lot. It sounds like it'll add a little variety.

It's just the names . . . not a stretch from there to "Lost City of Atlantis" and such . . .

I like that it could be a Maritime, Military and Cultural CS all in one

i just feel like if they were to add more natural wonders they could have been more realistic. oh well i do like how they made each one unique and not just a generic wonder. not to mention el dorado was supposed to be a city of gold right? did the earth build it, 'cause last time i checked cities werent natural.

Your point is valid as some of these new wonders and changes seem OP and add more luck to the game.

Agreed.
A unit skipping past the fountain of youth, combined with a medic and/or survival promotion may make it irrelevant that promotions cannot be saved for instant healing (depending on one's preferences when setting up the game)

So we're all going to start pilgrimages of our units to the Fountain of Youth?

LAME!

You'd think they would think these sort of consequences through before they'd add in some cheesy fantasy'ish content like this. It's like they put solid effort into making a serious game to represent some semblance of historical accuracy, but then they go and throw in silly things like giant death robots and fountains of youth.....time to tell the 9 year-old kid sitting in on the design meetings to hold his thoughts....sigh.

4 Gigabyte... I think you are downloading the whole game.

Of course but the game was installed a long time ago and also it works great. So i want to update and now i have to download the hole game again? this doesnt make sense to me.

Fountain of Youth makes units that have been next to is heal at double rate for the rest of the game
Like micromanaging unit movement wasn't tedious enough, so we're now going to move as many of our units near to this fountain of youth - with more 1UpT goodness.... hahahahahhhh.... this is so uber-ironic, they need to invent a new word to describe it :crazyeye:

Heh. Suspension of disbelief in a series noted for taking decades for ships to sail across the ocean.

And yet another person saying that no specialist slots on the library is overboard.

Again: why? Are you now going to fail to research necessary techs before the game ends?

All of you complaining about Cerro Potosi, Fountain of Youth, and El Dorado... You did note the bit in the patch info about NW rarity, right? They will not appear in all games, nor even most games.

If you have powerful locations which are rare you're inducing substantial elements of random luck into the game. Increasing the production, etc. of cities won't be enormous (although, for instance, 5 science at the start of the game is a lot). Adding unique abilities to all units, on the other hand, is pretty clearly overpowered; your entire gameplay will be very different.

Well, have fun guys (with this new patch and stuff). I don't have this game so I can't play with the latest patch. I only play the "demo" at the moment. But I will buy the game as soon as possible. I don't have much money these days. I went from being a rich guy into being a poor guy in just a year. Too much tax bills.

All you have to do is change two lines in one XML file and El Dorado and the Fountain of Youth will never appear on a random map...I've already done it.

Haven't you been the one who claimed them being intended to "improve the gameplay"?
And now it is good that they don't show up each time?

I really can't follow your pre-patch and post-patch line of arguments.

That's a fair point. I only wish they allocated that software engineer who implemented the new natural wonders, to fixing Civ V so it doesn't suck quite as much HW resources.

By the way (completely off-topic) - your steam ID is cool.

Once again: That comment was discussing the National Wonders. It was written in response to a question about national wonders. I feel we already went over that in a different thread.

Once again, please do not put words in others mouths. I understand you wish to find fault with Civ, but please go about this in a more adult manner, rather than trying to flame others. Thank you. :goodjob:

You had multiple trys including verify local cache. Personally I would delete local cache and redownload the lot. Ok its 2/3 hours to do it .... but you should get a clean full download with no more messing around.

Go to Library, right click the Civ Icon, select Properties, then delete local cache

.... then watch a movie on ITunes :) If it does not load cleanly, I suggest you repost on the Technical Forum.

Regards
Zy

Thanks for your help Zy - downloading now.... zzzz
