[GS] Patch Livestream March 29th

That sounds like an odd thing to stream. *tries to imagine Pete narrating the editing of lua files*
Well, you see, when a daddy L file meets a mummy UA file, you get an assignStartingPlots.lua, at which point everyone loses their mind, gives up, and goes home to pray to the awakening of the Elder Gods.

(I haven't even looked at mapgen in VI, I just fought with it enough in Beyond Earth)

As long as he doesn't sing "Lua Lua" by The King Difficulties, I'm good.

As always, this patch looks to be pretty big. Natural disasters are getting tweaked, climate change is getting tweaked, civs are getting some needed nerfs, and a bunch of AI and quality of life improvements as well. Firaxis does not disappoint with their patch support. :goodjob:

Yes, but I am so glad that other civs won't get science or culture anymore from pillaging. Staying in almost constant war and pillaging for science and culture was way too strong a strategy.

It sounds like you can still get it from pillaging districts, just not improvements.

okay, no getting up extremely early for me, so enjoy the live stream everyone

Map-Tacks included! (One less on my must have list of active mods)

Really like that new Map-Search component.. a centralized QoL asset that should allow for much better micro-management.
Many other neat fixes and a solid Balance pass -- almost as expected.
I really like that. I can never find anything.

Now I just wish I could sort the city list . . . is this more difficult than it seems to an outsider or am I just the only one that misses this?

No mention of a nerf to rock bands?? They totally eclipse every other source of tourism and are the most broken thing in the game by a country mile..

Problem is that Civ VI multiplayer has some huge fundamental flaws that were never an issue even in Civ IV. And I doubt they will ever get fixed. Namely...
  • The AI takes over instantly if someone disconnects, meaning you have to reload an autosave every time since the AI will mess everything up when it gets the chance
  • You can't engage in diplomacy or make changes in your cities or do anything at all while waiting for other players, so you keep having to un-end and re-end your turn and sequential turns during wars are a chore
  • No fully turn-based option, though it wouldn't have worked regardless until the above point gets fixed so that choosing production can be done in other players' turns like in IV
  • Simultaneous turns in wars between human players are just stupid. Enjoy getting screwed over by the notifications covering the screen!

1) You can pause the game and wait until player reconnect. You have to do it fast enough though. But yeah good option to add here.

2) It's not like you're doing it every turn. It's only 2 little clicks after all. Maybe devs can't?

3) I agree about having more options for the future. I liked the pbem GMR games from civ5, though it was incredibly long to finish. I hope they will add some features.

4) It's a matter of taste. I do prefer sim. turns. Probably because i'm used to it. Dynamic war turns is too much time consuming(each player engaged into a war make his turn; other players have to wait). And for notifications we have to right click them or they won't disappear fast enough. So yeah i also want something(an option maybe) to remove them automatically without getting a mod for it.

In other words: Please more options!!!

Nerf to pillaging sounds great and an excellent enhancement for Norway.
... that gold is still gonna be easy though. TBH it is the gold as well as the science I found crrrazy,
Storms are gonna wreck you more? I just go my capital wiped out without any climate change with a Hurricane, it was too much. Every building in every district, all fisheries and fishing boats gone? It is not like I did not see the storm coming, I did shout at everyone to take cover. I think this is going to be a change some like and some don't, certainly broke my game at a bad time.
So Toa have been well nerfed, reduced the a lot and 1 culture off the Marae makes them no threat as an opposing AI CV civ, a bit of a shame.
Nothing on world congress? It properly sucks.
At least Canada can be productive while it starves.

I had my Mali capital wiped out by a Haboob that lingered overhead instead of moving away, when I was just finishing my exoplant project.

It was the pits.
