Paul Ryan against DADT reversal

Leaving it up to God is a horribly defeatist attitude to take, why not be the change you want to see in the world?
Yes, it worked out so well the first time.

Hows leaving it upto someone else to fix your problems working out for you? Good?

Wait is he a Christian?

He says he is. He's a "Christian Scientist" and a universalist. Universalism might not inherently disqualify a person, but he definitely seems to have a lot of unitarian leanings and very little that's distinctly Christian about his faith. I'm not trying to be judgemental, but by the normal Evangelical definition of the term "Christian" he wouldn't apply.

And just a quick note to VRWC regarding his normal definition of "Christian", Arakhor does say Jesus is the Son of God, but he does NOT accept Jesus as his "Savior", which I recall to you (VRWC) stating was a prerequestite to being Christian. Arakhor doesn't even believe in the concept of "Sin" to begin with.

I believe I'm also on record as saying that if the Calvinist God is the real deal, I'd rather not believe in him at all. Fortunately for me, I don't believe that's true.

I've decided that expressing my true feelings about the Calvinist vision of God is probably not a great idea. I've gone about 4% into my real feelings on the matter and I think I've already made several people think I am Satan himself.

I don't know what Arakhor is talking about when he says "Calvinism" but I think its something different than what he's saying it is, since its perfectly, and easily, possible to be a non-universalist, non-calvinist Christian.

Calvinism actually has to do with accepting the five, or sometimes four of the five, points of Calvinism commonly abbreviated as TULIP.

Whether that doctrine is true or not doesn't horribly matter.

What Arakhor is doing is not just denying TULIP, but sin itself.

Well, yes, denying the existence of a supernatural control mechanism enforced by the churches is so wrong of me. I'll smack my hand and send myself to bed without any dinner.

Who?

I don't think that. You're agreeable enough, thus far anyway;)

Believe whatever the heck you want, but there's nothing "Christian" about it. Its fundamentally unitarian more than anything.

And what gave you the ability to judge was "Christian" was?

I agree, without believing in sins, where's the point of being Christian?

Ryan actually doesn't toe the GOP line on several social issues. He was against SOPA too, even before the storm blew up and most senators turned against it.

That also strikes me as an age group thing. I think the younger you are the more likely you are to understand why stuff like SOPA is crap.

I don't have a 100% understanding of it but I think anything that gives government MORE right to watch what you're doing on the internet is wrong. And I'm not even really against copyright laws.

It probably is an age group thing.

I should look up Paul Ryan more carefully, the main thing I know about him is his tax plan (Which isn't very good IMO.)
