Paul Ryan against DADT reversal

I've been addressing the whole "men that can't handle being hit on by men" thing. You and everyone else with that problem should work on it.

I imagine I'll have to once that type of behavior becomes socially accepted.

Hopefully the fact that pratically everyone that knows me knows I'm an Evangelical Christian will avoid that situation:mischief:

That type of behavior has become socially accepted. Welcome to the grownups' table.

Is that one of the many "committed Christians" who was also behaving in a most un-Biblical manner?

Honestly, I would only care if I knew they were gay. If I don't know, I don't care.

And yeah, its irrational. I can't really control it though. I'm probably not alone either.
Many people show irrational responses, I freely admit that I do sometimes as well. It's hard to overcome socially ingrained reactions.

The question is more, should homosexuals adjust their behavior because of your irrational reactions? Or should you change your behavior to deal with said reactions?

Hopefully the fact that pratically everyone that knows me knows I'm an Evangelical Christian will avoid that situation:mischief:
You can't make your whole social life depend on letting others know your religious views.

You yourself just said it's normal for women to get hit on.

I was implying you're an outlier.

Sorry, maybe I should've said grow up.

But if everyone did this attitudes would never change and everyone would immediately conform to current social expectations. I mean America would still be lynching people as a form of social justice.

You can't make your whole social life depend on letting others know your religious views.

Of course he can what kind of suggestion is this? We let gays define their entire personality around their sexuality. A christian has alot more reason too with his soul being on the line.

I was implying you're an outlier.

Would that make you feel better?

Mm, I'd never realized that not being a dick was such an impediment to... not being a dick.

Really? I don't do either of those, so maybe I'm actually normal.

It's normal for women to get hit on though.

Oh, so that makes it OK then! I would hate it if a dude hit on me, but women can just deal with it because it's normal!

Lucy's right. Man up.

First of all, "gay as a personality trait" is nothing but a bigoted strawman.

And what I actually meant is that he can't go around telling every one else his religious beliefs ("Hi, my name is Ghostwriter! I'm an Evangelical Christian!") and then expect others to adjust their behavior based on that.

I get pretty pissed off when men and boys say things like that. Do you have any idea how many advances women have to turn down? "No thanks, not interested," and the problem goes away without anyone being a jerk. If it doesn't go away, then it's reasonable to be ticked off. But at the suggestion? That's just childish.

yeah, the only way to deal with it is to happily gulp down the drink and say thanks.

Would that make you feel better?
Why would it?

Mm, I'd never realized that not being a dick was such an impediment to... not being a dick.
People have a right to be a dick, I'm not stopping you from being a (why can we say dick but we can't *vagina*).

Really? I don't do either of those, so maybe I'm actually normal.
Because you're not a Christian?

Oh, so that makes it OK then! I would hate it if a dude hit on me, but women can just deal with it because it's normal!

Go away Crezth, you're widely regarded as a doorknob. (you're also contradicting yourself by enforcing gender roles, though you don't believe in them)

Throwing the word bigot around is Pavlovian

And what I actually meant is that he can't go around telling every one else his religious beliefs ("Hi, my name is Ghostwriter! I'm an Evangelical Christian!") and then expect others to adjust their behavior based on that.
Yes he can, why exactly couldn't he expect them to adjust? You just asked him to do the same thing.

"Enforcing" gender roles, am I? hmm...

I should change my own. That doesn't change how I feel about the whole thing though.

OK, I don't do that. And yeah, a total stranger wouldn't know that (There's something not quite right, IMO, about the fact that people would flirt with total strangers, whether gay or not, but that's just me). But if a person knows me, they usually know I'm Evangelical. If it comes up, I'm not shy about it;) And I've been deliberately proselytizing before.

Dangerous road, man. Let's leave those judgements up to God. That kind of thinking leads to "GOD WILLS IT!" and inquisitions and whatnot.

Not really. If you don't believe anything distinctly Christian, why would you be a Christian?

Arakhor's religion is no more "Christian" than Islam is "Christian" solely because it reveres Jesus as a prophet.

I try not to go down this road, but "Leave it to God" doesn't automatically work for everything. Yes, I leave the ultimate judgment to him. On the other hand, "You will know them by their fruit." At least BELIEVING what Jesus said seems like a good start.

Wait is he a Christian?
Leaving it up to God is a horribly defeatist attitude to take, why not be the change you want to see in the world?
