Mostly just a reskin with slight uv map change so that little red book would have a red cover and white pages instead of the same colour as soldiers sleeve.

Nice button, fx version, and blood effects included.

same poly count as infantry and uses just one 128 texture.

Would make a nice extra uu for china. Could be same as infantry but cheaper to build and/or maintenance free.

Nice one. Now my infantry can be real commies. Any way you could do this for the Russian Infantry found in Road to War? It would be nice for Russian Civil War scenarios.

thanks. It would be easy enough to make a russian version. I don't think russians had an equivalent to mao's little red book tho. Also i have at least dozens of units i want to make before i start doing requests.

Is the red book used during the idle or during the fortify animation ?

Idle I belive. It looks like the letter that the soldier reads, then hold it to his heart.

It is actually the 'fidget' animation, and yes it is just a retextured 'dear john' letter from the infantry model.

Erm, a "Dear John" letter is a euphemism for a letter telling the recipient that the writer is breaking up with them.
I don't think that's something the soldier would hold to his heart.

yeah i know what a dear john letter is but he might still hold it to his heart if it made him really sad or even really glad.

Uh, I'm kinda new at this, so I'm having problems using your unit. I got it loaded, but the guy just has his arms straight out at his side with his gun and book hanging in mid-air. What am I doing wrong?

the art define xml tag referencing the animations the model uses is not correct or blank. this model uses the animations of the infantry model supplied by firaxis. so just copy and paste the xml animation reference for the standard infantry into this models art define. ok?

Which block is that? I've filled in kfm, nif and the fx fields. Which one am I missing? Is it still in the artdefines file?

The animations are the .kfm files, so check it again.

That worked, but they don't seem to read the book or even have the book with that setup.

If you watch the unit closely in-game, he will eventually pull it out and look at it before putting it away.

the book reading anim is the 'fidget' which is a subset of the idle anim. watch the model in idle mode for a few minutes and you should see one of the figures go into fidget mode and perform the book read. the standard firaxis infantry pulls out a beige letter. I just recoloured the letter red on the outside and white on the inside and left the fidget anim as is.
