Turn 130/750 (750 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:23:23]
Okay, i know i'm past my 72 hours but unfortunately, RL has been more than I thought it would be. Im already in front of GreyFox in his game, so thats punishment enough.
To the game: i'm going to chant Teo to the Jag and then keep going! Press Enter. Teotihuacan begins: Jaguar (9 turns)
Interestingly, on the IBT: Attitude Change: Napoleon(France) towards Saladin(Arabia), from 'Pleased' to 'Cautious'
Might be something we can exploit somehow ~
Turn 131/750 (725 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:24:56]
I MM a bit @ Teo. We might have time for 2 jags before Pop4.
Turn 132/750 (700 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:26:05]
The settler is done @ Tenoch. Im going with a lighthouse quickly there to grow faster And Im sending the settler to Cowtown.
Turn 133/750 (675 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:27:04]
IBT:
Nevermind. Attitude Change: Napoleon(France) towards Saladin(Arabia), from 'Cautious' to 'Pleased'

Teotihuacan finishes: Jaguar
IBT:
Chruchill has monarchy. Civics Change: Churchill(England) from 'Despotism' to 'Hereditary Rule'
Turn 135/750 (625 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:27:34]
I'm sending that archer north to check on their iron, and also that other city, Lyons.
@ Teo, a forest chop sped up a Jag @ Teo, and then itll both grow to 4 and pop out the other Jag in 6 turns. I'm sending our workers to cottage that silk for now at Teo, too.
Turn 136/750 (600 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:28:42]
Hurray! City #3 in 600 bc. Tlatelolco founded
Tlatelolco begins: Granary (90 turns)
Turn 137/750 (575 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:29:30]
Bismarck goes to Islam. We should have a city dedicated to getting out some missionaries.
Turn 139/750 (525 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:30:04]
What do we say we try and build up a small enough force to take these 2 cities ~ maybe 6/7 jags?? We can whip them out quick enough, I think. If we do it, I think speed will be of the essence, and we might be able to take Orleans with 5 or even 4 jags, if we want to do it ASAP!
Turn 142/750 (470 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:31:18]
Napoleon founds Tours in a nowhere spot.
Turn 145/750 (425 BC) [23-Oct-2007 12:32:24]
Nothing much else happened this set, but pressing enter.
Heres the garrison at Orleans:
We can take Orleans, then move up to Lyons. Keep those 2 and then raze Tours.
Make peace. Whaddaya think??
I also whipped that settler in Teo. He can be sent to either Crabs or Wheat/Sheep (or Wheat/Horses if we'd prefer that, but i still vote for the sheep one, too). Also, churchill is pretty high on the Power list right now ~ he's at 0.6.

I like the idea of hitting France as soon as. But, nappy has his Copper hooked up, so we need to hit him ASAP before he gets more axes. Those axes will be very tough I think.
Had a look. We seem to be doing a lot of infrastructure builds if we're heading for a quick war. Be worth building an axe to escort our jags.
We could whip LH in Teno and use overflow for the axe but its going to be a few turns before we have a stack in place.
Agree with sheep/wheat city. Crab city is probably not worth building.
I wasn't sure if we WERE going to go w/the quick war, but the LH will help us grow faster from whipping ~ we should have a couple jags ready, so maybe another couple-three more and an axe or two, head for Orleans?? Hopefully, Nappy is in the new AI "overexpand, lightly defend" mode for a bit longer.
He is busy retrofitting pigs with wings ... a futile attempt I must say. To get a pig to fly, is actually pretty simple. Just hang on to the pig for an eon, and it will fly .... why? Cause then you get a pigeon.
Sorry for the delay chaps. I've played my turns, report to follow shortly.
I'm currently doing the moving-from-monarch-to-emperor thing at the moment, which ain't going well (even on BtS) so I'm becoming frustrated and demoralised. which paradoxically is putting me off Civ at the moment. When you see my report you may well think it looks more like someone moving-from-settler-to-warlord but that's how it is.
T12.
CoL>Maths.
Confu founded in Tlatelco.
Trade CoL to Bis for Alph.
Trade CoL to Ram for monarchy.
T13.
Nap demands crabs (no puerile sniggers please). Reject his empty threats.
Demand Tours from Nap. Refused.
T14.
Taoism spreads to Lyons.
Whip gran in Tlatelco.
T15. Tlatelco gran>monument.
Our 'army' consists of axe, 4 jags, axe and jag nearing completion. Orleans is defended by arch, 2 axes.
We could adopt HR for happiness. We could also switch from Taoism to NSR which would cost us some happy (compensated by HR) but would give us culture in confu cities and would ease diplomacy significantly.
Definitely a revolt to HR, there after would be a merciless application of whips on Tenochitilan -- just need to keep adding archers to keep city happy.
don't know why, but I'm lmao over that ~ nice turns, and i agree that your crab village is a WHOLE lot better than mine ~ a nice little commerce town! Might be nice to get that on board in the not-too-distant future to help defray military costs.
I agree on HR, and think no religion, even for just enough turns to get Tlat to pop, will be a good move for now. course, it'll make Churchill a little peeved, but we can (and should) swap back once the borders pop.
I trust you to take the war to Nappy, Fox ~ we also don't need to go down to 10 turns for this war unless it gets to be overwhelming
oh, and a roster so that I don't have to search for it after fox's turns:

Ok, we are spiritual, so changing to No-State-Religion for cultural border pop is probably a valid move. Hence, on 200 BC:
Always revolt civic before religion to avoid cool down. Meanwhile, the confucian missionary is sent to confuse the northern city. A jaguar takes the same ride, but his mission is to go pillage the french source of iron.
When the pillagers are in position, we declared.
Incidentally, Nappy was touching his head when I told him where it would look good at ...
Our forces moved in and pillages the copper and freshly-built iron mine. Grabbed two workers in the process.
Nappy responded by bribing QSH.
Bad move, Nappy. The Chinese will be a phony war. Too far away to have any effect.
Orleans is guarded by axes and archers and a chariot. With 40% cultural defense, I decided to go south and discovered his source of horses. Promptly pillaged.
With the threat of chariots retaliation removed, our jaguars and axes take Rheims, at the cost of 1 Jaguar vs 3 arhers:
The situation:
Orleans:
This will be a tough one. Continue pumping Jags and axe, and once we have at least twice as many attackers as there are defenders, we can go for it. The question is can we produce axes/Jags faster than Napolean can churn out archers. I think we can, if the whip is used relentlessly (see later).
Lyons:
Plan is to pillage the farm. But don't wander too deep for pillaging, need to keep checking the iron there to ensure it is not being reconnected.
Sorry about the spear being queued. When I saw the chariot, I decided to build a few spears. But then after killing the chariot (when it killed one of our axe and was left in open) and pillaging the horse pasture, the spear is no longer needed.
Now, whipping. The best part about going HR and having a relatively high food city is that you can whip the city perpetually without any red faces popping up. The trick is to always whip for 2 pop, and for every 2~3 whips, overflow into 1 archer for MP duty. Now, because spear/axe/Jags all cost 52 hammers, to whip for 2 pop, you need to MM the city carefully for growth and control the hammers output so that you produce only 6 hammers on the first turn of a unit.
This way, the city can whipped for 2 pops next turn, and the hammer overflow will allow the next axe/Jag to be produce normally while the city grow back 2 pops. Then rinse and repeat.
Cultural pop will occur the next turn, so remember to switch back to Taoism to add a happy face back into the capitol.
