PH12: Men in Tights

b/c it won't be that much culture from commerce w/o cottages, we could run the slider ~ no artists, no GAs, no culture slider ~ HOW would we win via culture? only wonders?? if we think it can be done, i'm game to try it out.

just checked the GM ~ he bulbs CS now, requiring only 2 turns of research to finish it off. That's my recommmendation ~ spreading those farms will do well for our GSs ~

also, re: the culture slider ~ what if rather than using it, we can run Artists in our Big3 cities??

lurker's comment:
The power of Sushi is not in the resources you have yourself. The AI will trade a good amount of them too you for cheap prices. It's easy to obtain 10+ food and thus base culture via Sushi trade...

Trivial alive? I can play tomorrow if we don't hear from him.

Bulbing CS is good if we don't want to keep him sitting. Other opinions?

I don't see how this would differ from regular culture game (except espionage). I would say we go with current variants to the end :p

That's fine ~ it IS a PH game after all ~ crazy-azz variants to the end! Huzzah!!

go ahead and play when you can, Meiz ~ just post first.

This round was culture all the way. Lot's of boring wonder screens coming ahead, zero military units built :goodjob:

Turn 217
I start by changing all of our builds to ridiculously cheap froges. They are whipped on next turn.

I also change our research to Drama, planning to move towards Music (free GA and Sistinel Chapel).

Decide to leave our merchant alone, figuring that we can get enough seafood for Sid's Sushi by trade. We really can't ignore culture from corporations.

Turn 218
JC requests war against Victoria and Washington follows with demands to cancel deals with Boudica. Both declined.

Turn 219
Others support our actions by donating 370 gold for our cause

Turn 221
We get Great Spy who builds Scotland Yard in Loxley :ninja:

Turn 222
Again Washington comes with requests. We refuse to declare war against JC.

Turn 223
Loxley finishes Colossus in 4 turns.

Civ4ScreenShot0098.jpg

And Boudica makes us officially rich :p

Civ4ScreenShot0099.jpg

Turn 225
Chichen Itza built in Sherwood.

Civ4ScreenShot0100.jpg

We get lucky! Other option was paying for +1 breaker/turn.

Civ4ScreenShot0101.jpg

Steal Horseback Riding from Victoria. We can build elephants!

Civ4ScreenShot0102.jpg

Turn 226
Drama -> Music.

Turn 229
Fredrick makes peace with JC

Turn 230
Shwedagon built in Gisborne, start Moai Statues as the city is desperate for hammers.

Civ4ScreenShot0104.jpg

Loxley builds National Epic.

We again steal from Victoria, this time it's Machinery. Now I realize that I forgot to gift Horseback Riding to Boudica earlier (only one without it) She has now researched it herself, so I just redeem myself by gifting Machinery to her.

Civ4ScreenShot0105.jpg

Tech table (Boudica got Machinery after screenshot). We have a good shot for Music. Should we just merge GA in Gisborne?

Civ4ScreenShot0106.jpg

good turns Meiz ~ thanks for pickign up the ball on this one. We seem to rolling with wonders now. Does it seem not as hard as i thought it was?? So we're going with wonders and temples/cathedrals for the win then? No artists, no culture slider, no build culture ~ sounds like a great PH game :goodjob: :D

let's hope to have a bunch of religions spread to us for more multipliers. AGree on settling the GA in gisborne ~ it'll be our weakest city by far methinks.

@ TriviAl ~ can you get it now??

@ rolo ~ if there's no got it w/in 24, run with it ~

Roster:
pholkhero
TriviAl >> UP NOW
Refar >> skipped
Meiz >> just played
r_rolo >> on deck
Ralph_Jackson

pawelo >> still OoP for every game but MLG7??

I'm not sure why Ai's suck so bad... This is probably going to get much harder as time goes by.

But I have to say that building Great Library was a great move :goodjob: I don't see if we would have any chance to research Music first without it. That almost guarantees Sistinel Chapel for us (+ free GA of course)!

@pholk
Still on civ-sabbatical, even for MLGs.
Things are looking up though, so I think I'll be back on the track soon enough.

I am happy to tell you, that my computer is back to live. There is still a bit clean up work to do, but i will be 100% ready for action, by the time the roster reaches me again.

I could offer tomorrow (Thursday) the first half of the day - it's about 20 hours from now...

Turns 230 - 245 / 850AD to 1000AD

Turn 233: - Washington asks for a free tech. From the look of it, he already had one... I hate this... But there are Rules... and he's puny anyway... So... OK.
Spoiler :
Missing Screenshot of the Jerk with a slimy smile asking for a freeby
- Boudica wants us to DoW on the Greeks... :( Nope.
- The Hindu dude sucks in Barnsdale. He's Lucky that he's already dead, because i get in the mood to kill something...

Turn 234: - Start up Angkor Wat in Sherwood.
- Loxley gives us a Gret Prophet. He made Confucian Shrine for 11:gold: Perhaps we can Confuse a couple of cities, when we have some time...

Turn 235: - Boudica is loosing in her War with greece. :p

Turn 238: - Now Fred asks to DoW on Boudica... Another -1 in Diplo [pissed]
- We have Mining Accident. Those [Not sooo] Random events you get in EVERY SINGLE GAME. In some games more than once. [pissed][pissed]

Turn 239: - Julius asks to DoW on Japan... NO!!! Well he was annoyed with us anyway.
- Boudica wants us to convert to Buddhism. :aargh: Another "NO!!!"
Spoiler :
A Screenshot of Boudica beeing angry. This one we actually might regret beeing missing

Turn 240: - Steal Feudalism from Charly for wimpy ~900 :espionage: Selfteching would have cost us 1600... Amazing :D
Spoiler :
Missing screenshot of the Spy Mission Table...

Turn 242: - Boudica looses another City.

Turn 243: - Sherwood is at happy cap... No Cottages to grow and lots of food, so i finish Ankgor Wat with a whip. Music next turn, and we will start Sistina right away...

Turn 244: - Another shiny Wonder. Sherwood starts on Sistina, as Music is in. Charlie switched tech, as soon as we got the Artist. So we will be the only ones with Music for a couple of turns. THE Culture Wonder shall be ours.
Spoiler :
Imagine another one boring generic screenshot of a Wonder beeing completed...
- Set out teching to Compass with ETA 16 turns, as no one seems to pusue this...
- Steal another tech - Theology.
Spoiler :
Another boring screenshot of the Spy Mission Table... Missing as well
- Start Hagia Sophia in Loxley. Not too optimistic - Thology is around fo some time now... But with IND+Marble... Just 11 Turns... Might work out after all...

Turn 245: - Nothing too special... But 1000 AD is a good round number to stop... :D

Notes: - I missed the right momement to whip in Barnsdale ... It grows so quickly  Sorry. My suggestion to deal with the mess, would be: Start Colosseum, halt growth, Whip Colosseum Next turn, resume growth...
- Victoria will have Civil Service in 5 Turns. A spy is near Osaka - to wait there and be ready with high Stationary bonus, to steal the Important tech asap. Backup spy's are en route (might be GOTO) in case he sucks...
- The Great Artist should be settled for 12 (14 with Sistina) :culture:/turn. I would suggest Loxley (where he is now) - it seems on Course to become one of the big 3, and might flip Tiwanaku at some point... But ther emight be other viable options... Gisborne was mentioned before...

The Save
You might have guessed it... It's missing :(
I seem to be unable to upload anything right now... I will try again later.
A alternative solution might be, me emailing the Save to someone - Our Chief for example... PM me as to EMail adress please, if the Save does not turn up here in the next few hours...

Nice turns :) AI's seem to research right techs for us, let's hope they continue to do that. I vote we settle GA in Gisbourne.

good turns Refar ~ we're doing surprisingly well so far :D I thought this variant was going to be tough ~ well, to be fair, we have to see how we do w/o artists and the slider! We're almost at the point where we should be keeping track of the culture per turn for our Big 3.

i'll try to load up the save in a bit and see how the religion situation is now that we can build cathedrals.

and i've never seen that message before! Great!!

Roster:
pholkhero
Refar >> just played
Meiz >> swapped
r_rolo >>UP NOW
Ralph_Jackson >> on deck

pawelo >> still OoP for every game but MLG7??
TriviAl >> AWOL

Yea it's right. The mighty Ceasar got himself 2 turns of Slave Revolt

I have seen this sort of message before - Unfortunately it was during a Golden Age of mine and I nearly exploded [pissed]
