IIRC, the colony maintenance for 3 cities on an island is just under 1gpt per city -- you really don't notice it until you get 4 or more cities on a landmass.

I like settling cities now and going after Hatty with trebs/maces.

You are mistaken, the maintenance per city on another landsmass is ~<.5 gpt when 2 cities are present, and ~1.25 gpt when 3 cities are present. That third city will cost 2.75 gpt, just counting overseas maintenance. Now add palace distance and amount of cities, etc.

I believe the island is too bad for 3 cities, actually. Lets just settle Plains tile and then take barb city once it has grown pop/culture.

I agree! Two are enough! If we want to have more cities let's get some from Hatty! :lol:
 
swapping to castle? if that's monarchy, i can't agree to that. running all these scientists, i htink ew should keep Rep. however, i would take archery and something else for lit. techwise, i still think we should head for theatres and Taoism for more happiness (running the culture slider, that is).

OR, tho, i like.

Going for philo bulb sounds ok to me. We'll need maths after currency, but maths is worth going for regardless and the AI seem reluctant to trade it nowadays.

I whipped the courthouse at Philly phinally, spread Confusion to Hatty (who converted), and founded Los Angeles (lost the pic ~ the western sheep city near DC).

I stopped in 250 ad when Francis Bacon was born.


He CAN bulb Philosophy, so I think we should. CS is due in 6, but we’ll probably have to reduce the tech rate before then. On another note, we’ll have another GS in about 10 turns.

I was able to build up our military with axes and archers for now so we’re okay, especially with the war in the east going on.

Thoughts:
We should definately bulb Philo - it's a Lib prereq and another religion (and Paci?) is nice.

Egyptian cities - What's that Hieraconpolis on the last pic? Just settled? Easy picking?
And I think the hillcity (Ankhenaten?) is ignorable, we should (IF we decide to attack her) roll straight for Capital - we can take that darned hill on our way home.

Specialists - you mentioned removing a sci to up production - was he rehired?

I'd as soon build up our empire and economy, establish a decent tech lead and then invade. Qin and Hats should slow each other down.
 
Just took a short look onto the save.. Good turns pholk!

After we're going for a second religion we should start making some prophet-point.. the shrines will help quite a lot.. So building Chichen or even Shwedagon might be an idea..

And a we should build some more military to take over this island-barb city..

Teching: Depends on whether we want to DoW Hatty soon.. (I'd vote for sooner 'cause only a dead hatty is a good Hatty :lol:) In case we want metalcasting --> machinery --> constructions --> engineering should be the way.. Otherwise we should go for musik first to get the GA!

And do we want to take Hatty down or do we rather want to make her our vassal?
 
thanks all ~ Hiera WAS just settled, so it could be taken on the first assault. The scientist wasn't rehired at NYC ~ i just think it should focus on production as much as possible, even to the extent of hiring an engineer instead of a Sci when a forge gets built there.

re: paper bulb ~ imhotep convinced me that using a GS on paper is a waste as the beakers are so low for the tech ~ i would save it for Educ.

also thought about a priest from somewhere, but we would need to fire our scientists somewhere and hire only priests once a GS is born again ~ maybe at DC once the next one pops.

I still like Drama for for theatres if we want to run some culture to up our happy limits (though for now, we don't have alot of room to play with our sliders i think). otherwise, i like MC > ... > engineering works well for me, esp after we grab CS. Maces anyone? :hammer:

Sorry guys, cannot play tonight. Tomorrow, Sat morning & Sun evening are my free times.

If we are going to go after Hatty sooner, perhaps we should head for construction first to build a mass of Catapults while teching towards Machinery for maces? Or even HAs?

Regarding our happiness situation, religion + rep should be a good start. We really need to expand into some happiness resources. But without resources, drama is probably the best we have available.
 
I don't think that Drama is that necessary at the moment. With two religions we should have enough happyness before we start some fighting.. But going for construction first to mass build cats sounds good!
