PH19: The RNGod Must Be Crazy

Capture and raze. We can't hold the city anyway unless the opponent has only archers.

:bump:

Waiting for signs of life

Sorry, can i be skipped ? I'm having serious computer issues ( new net provider is being flaky as hell ... ), and I do not have a reliable net acess for this week :/

Feels like I just played for some reason, but got it.

I trade Asoka civil service for code of laws and $210. I give Washington civil service for optics and $20. We are hurting again for tech, so I am glad to grab anything. The cash is quickly spent unit upgrades.

Even with the bonus units, the global objective is a challenge. I can't figure out the third civ to get to in time. Wake up our ships, and start to send them toward the Zulu to explore. Maybe we have a path to get to them in time.
Bismarck's head will look good on top of a pole.

1210 AD
The first of three cities are captured.

Bismarck will give us peace, if we give the city back. That works for me.

I sell Washington code of laws for $120. That will give me another upgrade.

1220 AD
I give Peter optics for literature and $130.
(IT) A bunch of deals with us were cancelled. 4 different nations closed borders with us :(

1230 AD
I sell literature to Washington for $200.

1240 AD
(IT) Bismarck already opens borders back up.

1250 AD
(IT) This game is becoming a pain. Asoka declares on us, but getting to one of his cities is NOT viable in the time frame we have. I am know stuck keeping our modern armor by Chaco Canyon, and may not have enough time to hit another city.

1260 AD
I sell literature to Churchill for $140.
(IT) Our modern armor takes major punishment, but survives.

1270 AD
I attached our new great general to the modern armor. We can't have a healer, but I can't resist that many promotions on that unit.

1280 AD
I send calendar and civil service to Churchill for philosophy.

1300 AD
We have a great scientist on standby. With this variant, I don't want to use in case we need to trip another GA.

1310 AD
(IT) I just had a brand new civ show up - the other Khan of Japan. They are hopelessly backwards.

1330 AD
G Khan's head will look nice on a pole.

1340 AD
Asoka will talk now, but Philosophy is too much to give up for peace at this point.
I can't wait any longer, and I declare on Washington.
(IT) Washington throws a ton of units at our stack, mostly losing his own units.

1350 AD
Our second city is captured.

The royal pain - ran DUMB should be happy.

Summary:
Global and personal objectives achieved.

So far this game has NOT been fun. I won't sign up for another chaos game like this.
Hopefully the game can start picking up pace so that we can wrap it up.

Not only are we losing the game but its really not fun at all.

Got it.

Waiting for the next absurd objective before deciding whether or not to ignore it.

This one is easy. Get our modern armor into action. ;)

yep - did you add blitz? I thought I saw that in the pic you posted above.

The good news: we'll lose before my next set.

The bad news: everything else.

1360. Peace w Gk, returned city. Peace w Asoka for philosophy. Still at war with Washington.

1360 JC caps to Bismark.

1390. Convert back to Randomism, adopt theocracy.
We get circumnavigation.
Biz builds Taj.

1480ish. Capture Mecca.

1505. Learn PP.

1510. Bismark declares on us, JC joins in (vassal). Peace out with Washington.

1520. Peter dogpiles on us.

1525. Jules is first to lib, picks up scimeth, we don't have education yet.

1540 Kublai dogpiles on us.

1550. Lose Cahioka, MA and panzer. So no 10xp gain, so another 'punishment', who the hell cares.
We'll lose our other northern city in a couple of turns.

I vote to concede this one as a loss. I have NO desire to play another turn.

lurker's comment: That's lame. I would call it a day at this point.

Agree with Lee on this one. The boxed in situation and the stupid objective of conquering a city with a new resource was just too much. It's no use playing games that are not fun any more, or never were ;)

I must admit to being disappointed, I don't expect to win all of pholkhero's games but I do expect to enjoy them and not to play out of some sense of masochistic duty.

The boxed in situation...
Very good point - we had a pretty lame start. Our best bet was to jump the ocean quickly and KEEP it, but the variant kept interfering with that.

@pholkhero - do you agree with one is toast?
