PH19: The RNGod Must Be Crazy

BLEH - feels like I just played this, but got it. :(

Global Objective:
04) t116-t154: Start a Golden Age - in Progress

Personal Objective:
Roll of a three - learn a tech.

400 AD
This game is a total mess. The first thing I must do is end the war. 5 units vs. 2 (1 a warrior) will cost us a city.
I give Churchill Monarchy for Alphabet.
I give Washington Monarchy to end the war.
Since I gave it away, I give Bismarck Monarchy for Polytheism.
I fire the scientist in Chaokia to cut the build time for the settler. We really need to get to the other continent.

450 AD
(IT) Khan comes by and says hello. The Zulu's are way ahead of us in tech including Aesthetics.

540 AD
We have the needed scientist to trip the GA. I am waiting until the last possible turn. I want to cities grow up as much as possible before starting it.
(IT) We complete Aesthetics and my personal goal.

580 AD
I give Churchill Aesthetics for Math.

600 AD
Caesar of Khmer stops buy to say hello.

620 AD
(IT) Washington comes by and offers us construction for aesthetics. I jump on the deal. I was researching construction hoping it would let us trade after a few turns.

640 AD
I start research on calendar. Our new city should make it obvious why:

700 AD
(IT) The AIs are really helping my goals. Bismarck offers calendar for aesthetics. I take the trade. Partial research really paid off.

720 AD
Aesthetics still is NOT traded around. I am now researching currency.

740 AD
Churchill has an archer on our land mass at the edge of Washington's territory. Is this a hint about land mass shape, or an exploring warrior that came over via a ship?

760 AD
I now we see a workboat from Washington by our new city. I have a feeling this is an odd wrapped map.

820 AD
I give Asoka aesthetics for currency and $55.
We are out of possible trades except horseback riding (we have no horses), so I simply working toward forges next.
(IT) I accept Khans offer for open borders.

880 AD
As forced by the RNG, I start a golden age.

Another settler pair has landed in the north. This site gets us rice and gold and a nice city. I am not sure where to expand after this. Claiming across the lake has worked out well so far.

Summary:
We are somewhat salvaged from the position I inherited. Thanks to partial research we are now middle of the pack for technology. We have two new happy resources being connected. We also have the gold / rice city for two more resources. Our empire is still too small, but we are a lot better than 20 turns ago.

great set Lee

we still seem to be behind the 8ball in the game, but hopefully the lower level and the random civ/leader will help out a bit.

another settler and a handful of WBs will help us out tremendously. a bit more exploration would be good as I agree that we are woefully behind and a few more cities would be nice.

waiting on the Prophet of the RNGod to help us set a new global obj. and pigs is up with his own personal objective.

Global Objective:
01) Found Religion
02) t001-t081: Spread our religion to three cities - Completed
03) t081-t116: Capture a City with new resources-Failed; Whipped all Cities
04) t116-t154: Start a Golden Age - Completed
05) t154-

As forced by the RNG, I start a golden age.
And the RNDGod was praised by the people, although, He, Himself didn't know that He forced the people to do anything.

That said, the sun shown down and the people of Randomism rejoiced ...

But no sooner than the sun had come out ... it might go back in ... the RNDGod looked down on LKendter and thought to himself ... I was too easy ... I let him have an easy goal ... well, my people of Randomism ... here is something more challenging ...
... you have until the sun does its thing 45 times.
Spoiler :
Bah - thought the RNDGod ... the RND dice even screw with me ... 45 turns is way to easy!

Well what age are we in, and what tech is the next age.
To be honest, I really don't know the ages techs are in.

No idea. The tech hover tells you if the tech will advance you to the next age.

Got it.

Roll 5 for personal objective: culture pop or attitude improvement.

Feudalism advances us to medieval and only 45 turns to learn it (does gaining it in trade count as learning?).

Played five turns.

T0. OB with Washington, send warrior exploring.
Trade sheep to GK for 7gpt, trade fish to Asoka for 6gpt.

T1. A new city:

T4. Ran Dumb afflicts all with her madness:

Hmm, what shall we do for the next 41 turns?

MC is in, start compass for trade bait.

T5. Border pop in poverty point, personal objective acheived.

Done a bit of exploring:

Ran Dumb should show us a sign of her obvious favour, maybe a Prophet to establish a shrine to her zoobness?

LOL - never expected that - especially with feudalism!

Bah - and the RNDGod is both pleased and angry ... pleased that his subjects are following the true random way, but angry that He isn't setting them enough tough trials and tribulations ... how will He prepare them for the coming WRATH?

New global objective when I get home.

Having only played five turns I may play a few more having already acheived my personal objective for the set. I shall await the next theophany from Ran Dumb before continuing.

ROFL. Feudalism? Gifted? You gotta be kidding me. Shows just how backwards we are...

That is what is really funny - at the end of my turn we weren't that backwards! Some nations wanted techs from us.

Oh unwize pig, you are tempting the great God Random ... his anger is quick to materialize and his reach is long. Here is your next global task ... scoff if you are able.
Code:
[B]Prod Prob Objective[/B]
 16 1/36 Capture cities from 3 different Civs [2]
You have 38 turns.

Me thinks just accept the punishment after 38 turns. That one is impossible with our farce of a military - not to mention we don't even know a third nations city location.

Scoffing away :p.

But seriously the set up is seriously imbalanced. If we´d left achieving the last global task until the last turn we´d have had fourty more turns of research and building before the next task. As it is at the moment we are being punished for success as much as we´re being punished for failure.

I´m not blaming you.

Pholkhero did not address the issue of what happens if we acheive a global objective early. If there is no benefit in completing an objective early and there´s a potential disadvantage to doing so that would be useful to know.

At the moment its worse to be lucky.
