PIE's Ancient Mediterranean on Deity

Which units?

I was following up on this comment:

Remember we might lose the capacity to build warriors, thus our strongest defensive unit. Axe warriors are bad for defense as it is half of warriors.

I thought you were referring to the Forge here. Just saying that we actually need techs to obsolete warriors like the axewarrior

Wait, there is a temple for celts. I didn't think they had one. One thing that annoys me to build the small oracle is it counts as a national wonder, leaving just one left. Of course, most of the time with wonder spamming in the capital, the other NW is the NE.

Temples give -10 to -25 GP points. Dunno why but it is a sad implementation. Ofc, a temple is welcomed.

The insurgent will suicide onto the city walls. It's typical unless weaker units are next to him.
Perhaps the forge is good. But be careful, growth is near and we don't want some slave revolts. Be careful to time next happy face to the growth. Then only emigrants will appear.

This one is actually quite nice. Most temples have demerits like slower GP rate. But this one is all bonuses. I like the +1 Xp

BTW, Lymond, don't disregard every occasion to milk wonders/NW for fail gold. You are used to regular BTS where 1:1 ratio is bad, but here it is simply great. With modifier, it's incredible. Wealth being 25% ratio and gold generating units being poor at generating gold for treasury, a wonder/NW with a 1:1 is again, I say, really really good. Just like the Silk Route. Of course, that 200% is simply the most incredible wonder modifier of the mod. Along other modifiers like the capital 50% on hammers and forge, etc.

Wow, quite nice. For this, I like Celtia. XPs are rare early game. Along a GG at one moment, that means +3 XP and thus racking near two promos at once.

Lol, it's the ethiopian stele.

Projects give fail gold? I did not know that.

Maybe we can build Small Oracle elsewhere if we have time. Spoked Wheels may be cheap enough anyway. We can use it on PoleAxe or something. Unlock some uniques or teutons. I don't know all the techs.

So look up at my small plan above and tell me what you think and I will get playing some here tonight before retiring. Woody needs his sleep

The worst temple is the phoenician one. +5 :wealth: and -25 :GP:. Well, that is bad. If only that was :commerce:.
Indians' temple is also -25 :GP:, but got -15% maintenance, which is correct.

I don't know about project fail gold. I never attempted to squeeze the most of silk route because I always wanted that wonder asap before those deity AI's sweep it under my nose.

Remember, the tech that enables the road improvement is costing ~600 beakres IIRC. A huge leap compared to other techs of the same category.

To me, asap, we get roads, bigger will be our cities. Because we'll be able to connect new resources.

Oh yeah, Spoked Wheels is more expensive than I thought.

Well, hoped you'd comment on plan, but I'll start playing here soon.

Ok, you're right. Spoked Wheels is the tech I was talking about.
Interestingly, Disc Chariot (a pre-req of ~200 :science:) is the tech enabling chariots.

sure we don't want to spread religion to new city. Spread is so random and it gets the borders popped sooner. We want those furs as soon as we can for more happy. Plus the temple would be nice build there. Mishes will be cheap in cap anyway.

 no, the woody 3 guy. mine is quite intact on the other hand:lol:

Ok...so what's the plan here?

1) Finish worker this turn. 6h OF at least (put in Forge? Silk Road?)

Since you're going for the forge. You should go on cycles. If max pop before unhappiness, preparation for slave factory (workers). Or settlers. If you got an emigrant. Then, you build normal stuff like units or buildings while growing.

2) Tech Sacred Places>Spoked Wheels prereqs (build Small Oracle for Spoked Wheels..still rather cheap at this point)

Small Oracle for Spoked Wheel. I recommend you invest some hammers in the capital first (should take 5-6 turns) and start it in a parallel city. That city will get the NW, but the capital, the fail gold. Moar gold, moar! In PAE, gold is a precious thing.

3) Build a few warriors and get rid of these barbs.

Those barbs will suicide anyways.

4) Settle new city

Yes. But be careful. What if an animal pounces upon the poor settler.

5) Build a temple in cap

Yes! Before growth if possible.

I'm just not sure about more slave farming right now...what do you think?

Make peace with Lydia?

Slave farming is a strong way to enhance the productivity of the nation. Lydia refuses all peace treaty. Sadly. So, we have to deal with it.

Comments in blue.

True, but we need Spoked Wheels to connect those furs. I recall it is not next to a river. I don't mind as it relieve the economy a bit.

Got it. Onward we go

argh! Silk Road went to Brennus on turn 2!
