Pmod01 - A lightly modded SG

actually cripp thats not a bad strategy - try and draw him into newcastle or some other city where our defense is better - make him lose more of his stack. Will make retaking easier.

I'd say give it a whirl Thy - I know it seems intimidating - but losing a city is not the worst thing to happen. A set back, sure, but we can survive. Gotta get war practice in somehow and at some point :)

Don't draft immediately -- trade for military techs first ;)

OK, giving up Newcastle and drafting a SoD seems to be the best idea. But I'd research rifling as fast as possible (3 turns at 70%) so we would draft redcoats.. Meanwhile I'll get some canons out..
And I'd suggest to try to steal MS from Mao instead of trading for it..

BTW: I won't find the time to continue before wednesday..

sounds like a plan to me.. I guess we'll be anxiously waiting:lol:

You needn't.. :(
Unfortunately my project requires a bit more time tomorrow so it would take until Thursday evening until I'll find the time for continuing the set..

So I'd ask for a skip..

BTW: I meant stealing MilTrad from Mao.. But another idea might be to go for MilScience for grens. It's a bit cheaper and might therefore be in a turn earlier than rifling..

Ok, it's understandable. Post the save. I'll have to look at the save to see what Mao has available.

pnaxighn I think you're up right now. Right now Mao only has MT with a 89% chance. Charlie dropped off 9rifle/4knights/2trebs. Pretty good stack though, 5 of those are DrIII.

With research @70% Rifling only takes 2t, MS is 3t

Well I guess so:D, I'll look at it close and come up with a game plan here shortly

Game plan:
-Pull out of Nottingham and let Charlie take the city with only a cat loss
-Settle GG in Nottingham for the +3:sceince:+2exp, create a Medic3 spear for our reinforcements. We also need HE there
-Goto 70% to have Rinfling in 2t, also some MM in all cities
-Try teal MT from Mao after Rifling is in
-Start the draft and get a few muskets going before Rifling is in, switch to unit production

Chaco Canyon draft
Cahokia draft
Mound City draft, move al to Cahokia along with a cat/4axes
Dial up Mao for some resources
Spoiler :

Dial up Obsolete for resource

Spy in Mao's city is only -20% really need that 50% so I'll wait until rifling is in. Kill one of Charlie's galleons

Turn 297 - 1854AD
As predicted Charlie took Newcastle, he killed our 2 frigates by Newcastle
Spoiler :

Rifling due next

Turn 300 - 1856AD

Charlie starts a beeline to Dover with 4rifle/3knights/4treb, he's left 5rifles/knight behind in Newcastle

Civ4ScreenShot0004-3.jpg

My question is should I pull out and retreat back Hastings? He's going to to be getting spread out and give time for me to get a stack together.
Also thinking of going civics US/Nation/Slavery/../.. to rush/draft/whip units out, will have to regrow afterwards. Also switching to Theo, but with the civic+religion change it's 3turns of anarchy. Was also thinking RR for MG, or MS for grenadiers?

What's the idea here?

As S.ilver's sig says, as quoted from Liquidated:
"Well go for universal sufferage AND slavery AND nationalism for the low low price of 1 turn of anarchy. Yup you can pay em, whip em or post big ass posters of some scary looking man with a goofy stipped hat, pointing directly at YOU."

Took me a little bit of time to realize the genius of that - but it certainly would be fun to try out, and this seems like a great opportunity to do so!

Charlie probably wont talk, will he?

I'd move some frigate's over to help keep him from reinforcing, and then allow him to spread out. Then whip em, buy em and draft em to kick 'im back across the pond.

As far as I'm concerned - for the rest of the game, its open season on Chuckie.

Turn 301 - 1862AD
Cahokia cannon>cannon
Rush buy 3 frigates, 2 cannons
Brighton draft
Nottinghan draft
Drafted one other city, forgot. (this mod doesn't make play logs)
Charlie's sending 5rifle/3knight/2treb towards Hastings but he'll be in for a treat
and still refuses to talk

Cahokia rush cannon
Promote cannon/cats to BarI and soften up Charlie's stack, Charlie's stack is gone with 1 Inf/1cannon/4trebs lost
Take a small stack to reclaim Dover, then Nottingham
Don't think I need to draft as hard anymore, just rushbuy cannons/frigates
Make a trade with Mao for some happiness

Yeah I like the buy'm,draft'm,whip'm technique, really helped out here.
whew I tried to take a look at the save and it crashed a couple times trying to load it, third times a charm! Everyone is in WHEOOHRN so who knows whats about to happen, just have to keep a close eye on that, looks like WWII may break out soon. Hopefully not against us, after looking Combustion is best right now. How well do MGs do against rifles, any better than Infantry? Should I continue for 10t?

Nope, I got it (sorry about the delay on that).

Combustion seems like a reasonable idea, since we will need it, eventually.

Pnax - are you going to be playing the next set, or should we skip?

(no problem here on waiting - just making sure things haven't been forgotten :) )

Did a lot of thinking about where we should go on this set. Given how it ended, I'm pretty sure I made the right call. Basically, I went heavy on infra, stopping the military build cycle in many cities. I think we're still safe, and no one has come calling, so I think this paid off.

Inherited turn: Switch to railroad for combustion. Military tradition gets us very little.
Turn 1: Not much going on. Need to get these military builds finished so we can catch up on important stuff. Like factories.
Turn 2: Really wish Mao would declare war on whoever it is he's going to declare on so we could move along.
Turn 3: STILL not much going on. We are building some number of factories now, however.
Turn 4: Rails! With these in, I'm going to dive into infra. We have enough inf/cannons to repel any attack (since we'd be facing vastly inferior units), and I want to really end this. Revolt to free speech + emancipation.
Turn 5: Anarchy.
Turn 6: Anarchy.
Turn 7: Mao declares on Toku. Ah well.

City plans:

London: IW. This + Nottingham will be our best prod cities.
Cahokia: HE, then WP. This will be our military pump.
Nottingham: Since this is also our best cash city when in science-slider, wall street.
Everywhere else: factories, other infra.

I'll be dropping the slider to 0 and using the rest of my set to buy as much of this as possible.

Turn 8: Great engineer born in our theoretical GP farm. Have him build Pentagon for more military fun + GP points. He can't do it all alone, but it's 700/1250. Buy out the factory there so it can finish the job.
Turn 9: More buying of infra.
Turn 10: Continue the buying.

State of the union:

Our production power is significantly higher than before. It is going to continue to climb as we buy new infra, and finish national wonders (IW, HE). This is the key point -- we have 4 cities with production over 40 now. The three gorges dam, if available, would make this even better.

We are not researching. This should be the case until wall street comes in or is bought. At that point, we should start pushing for more tech, though we won't be able to come to close to maxing out the slider. We should continue to run in the green on cash, however, in case there are useful buildings to buy.

Once Cahokia has finished HE/WP, and Canterbury finishes The Pentagon, Cahokia can power our military pretty much on its own, I think. That should keep our power level high enough that we never have to fight again.
