Going back-and-forth on the 2020 election thread I see some Democrat-leaning voters talking about Biden v. Sanders and I wonder what the split would be.

So, I’m formalizing it into a poll. It’ll close in 30 days and you can change your response as much as you like before then (I’m assuming closed polls don’t allow vote changes?)

Edit: I added the option “not a Democrat.” I thought both Biden/Sanders NO would suffice but if someone was hard set on say Warren, for example, their vote might be conflated with someone like me who wouldn’t have voted for any of them.

Tally so far:

Americans
Biden/Sanders yes, 3
No Democrats, me

International
Biden/Sanders yes, 1

Still early on! Can a no take the lead? I’m pushing for a horserace (in pro wrestling I think it’s called “heat”) so I gather some more interest.

Yes on both but till that day do everything to promote Sanders over Biden. It's a monumental difference but both are better than Trump. Int.

Poor Joe Biden, nobody would vote for him but not for Sanders. I gotta feel for the guy a little.

The establishment and media electability issue with Bernie is a joke. Bernie is not only much more electable; he is more popular over party lines - by miles - and the only one who has any plans at all. Biden has nothing, no program, no plans, nothing except dementia, a fake smile and DNC backing and rigging. They may now make a townhall of the debate to save his face. Word is Klobuchar let slip she’s on the ticket – that could be VP Klobuchar taking over in practice real fast and she for many reasons; bad racial sentencing record, bad handling of staff - is not a particularly popular character.

Also she eats her salad with a comb.

Really, I’m just trying to get a good sample size of CFCers. It seems more are flexible on Biden than I suspected because the die-hard Sanders supporters are very vocal.

I picked the only option applicable to me. I'm not a republican, either.

Democrats seem pretty split on who is more likely to win the general election out of the remaining primary field. None of the candidates seem very strong at this point, but the vote isn't happening at this point either. If someone better than the winner of American Samoa had pulled that stunt we might have had a new frontrunner.

I'd vote for Biden if I lived in a swing state but since I live in the most Democratic "state" (DC) in the US I can't be bothered.

Voted yes and yes.

You left off the "I'm an International troll" option. ;)

Not sure. I've never been registered and have voted for either party at times. I really didn't understand who Republicans were in my 20s. Now Hillary and Biden are showing me who Democrats are. At least Obama and even Third Way Bill Clinton paid lip service to the idea of universal healthcare. Even before the internet I thought it was stupid that other countries have it but we don't.

Was it Lexicus who posted that rightward ratcheting of American politics post in the 2020 thread? I'm not contributing to that anymore. If Biden and Clinton losing to an orange clown is what finally dispels the moderates are more electable BS, fine.

Better hope that doesn't happen, because it simultaneously proves that orange clowns are in fact the only thing that are electable. I suspect that may be true, but I certainly don't look forward to proof.

I want to support Biden but he keeps doing this things that make him look like a waffling doofus. Though Trump has already proven a waffling doofus can win so maybe it's not an issue.

How exactly does telling someone they are full of...let's us "it" for convenience...qualify a 'waffling doofus'? Standard gun nut confrontation: "yer tryin' to take muh guns!" "No, I'm not." "Are too!!" "No, I'm not." "Are too!! <perpetual repeat>" "<eventually> could you just quit yelling that?" "I'm a self reliant american gun nut ready to kill or die for the second amendment, but telling me to shut up has hurt my wittle feewings....wahhhhhhhhh!"

The gun nut goes away laughing his butt off, and the liberals devour their own candidate for being so horrible and harsh.

I'm saying that Biden doesn't come off as very charismatic, incidents like this underscore that opinion and I question his ability to beat Trump. Sanders is a much more engrossing candidate but so many disagree wholeheartedly with his message and see him as a socialist I question his ability to beat Trump.

Dems didn't have an ideal candidate out of 23 candidates.

I haven't seen any true international trolls (just those labelled such because they're opinions are "inconvenient" and "difficult to defend against," so schoolyard namecalling and cliched dismissal is an easier tactic to use) - though somewhere @Commodore was asking where to sign up to gain part-time employment as a Russian troll.

Funny thing. I am often referred to as enormously charismatic. People tell me that when they worry about me it is frequently an uneasy feeling that I might take it into my head to start a cult.

And I confront people all the time...often sharply.

It is very possible to demonstrate charisma and a good heart without being a rug upon which asshats can wipe their feet.
