Hoping you guys are right and it's a hoax. Adding the Zulu at the same time as the Mongols still makes no sense to me.

Not very convinced by this “leak”. William Wallace sounds like an odd choice for a “Celts” blob civ, and I just wouldn’t have expected Firaxis to go with a Scotland civ. But in case this information is true, I’m holding out hope it’s Scotland. Please no more blob civs!

Zulu is perfectly believable though. A Civ mainstay, and an expansion civ in the last game. Not to mention Rise and Fall thus far lacks a new African civ, and Southern Africa is quite empty from a TSL perspective. They’re not #1 on my priorities, they’re I wouldn’t be unhappy to see their return.

I've seen some people mentioning that a pirate civ would be fun. I think that it would be nice if they were city-states with a pirate ability, like Nassau would be able to capture ships or troops like barbarians from everyone who isn't their suzerain.

I consider it a good thing Mao Zedong is no longer in the game. :pChinese history is pretty long (full of great/notable rulers), and they kept picking him to lead China for 4 games straight? Sounds like Sid Meier was obsessed with Communism or couldn't name a Chinese emperor off the top of his head.

They should choose for a communist Russian leader, not a communist Chinese leader (and no, not Stalin, but Khrushchev or Lenin). Picking Mao for China is ALWAYS a waste.

No, current incarnation of China is not the most powerful China relative to the world (well in absolute terms every nation is most powerful today :p ).

I agree with your post, and while China always should choose for an ancient leader, because it has 3000 years of rich history, we should not forget that the modern nation of China is the second most powerful country in the world, perhaps already even the most powerful country, and if not, they soon will be, and no i'm not afraid of this, because China has shown us that they have the ability to lead the world in a decent and acceptable way. During the times Mao led China, china was relatively still weak and being shadowed by it's much more powerful cousin the USSR.

Vikings were basically Scandinavian pirates so need for that. Either Nassau or Port Royal could work with a Jolly Roger symbol as their icon.

Maybe Uallas is just the replacement for Genghis.

Why do you spell his last name as Uallas? Is that the Scottish Gaelic form of Wallace?

Maybe Uallas is just the replacement for Genghis.
Same time period. I can't remember off the top of my head his retire action but would it fit him as well?

Also, really hope that the leak isn't true. I really don't want to see the Zulu now, especially when we got Mongolia, and I like the Celts but I wouldn't like this kind of depiction. I don't want a medieval Celtic civ. I want a classical Celtic civ. If they want to do something medieval at the British Isles, just add a medieval English alternate leader.

I'm thinking this is a hoax. But I could be wrong. Firaxis/2K would fire this Chinese person for spoiling this.

I had a suspicion that the Celts would make it to R&F, but not the Zulu. I thought Africa wouldn't get any Civs in this expansion. Sure Southern Africa is empty, but I don't find the Zulus as interesting as Mali, Ashanti, Benin, Dahomey, Kanem-Bornu, Ethiopia, Somalia, Madagascar, Hausa, Zimbabwe and even the Swahili. They will always get Shaka as their leader, and give off a stereotypical image of sub-Saharan African civilization.

Looks like a hoax to me. Zulu are possible, but it means another male ruler (unless they chose Nandi?) AND another warmonger. Seems pretty unlikely to me.

The William Wallace thing has to be a joke. Right?

I would prefer Nassau. Nassau has that extra thing, and also i don't think the Caribbean have a city-state or civ (did they ever in civ?). Though it doesn't look like they are going to add city-states but it would be nice. Havana could be nice too (together with Taino in a DLC :D ?), though they're already in the city list of Spain.

William Wallace would be a bizarre choice to lead the Celt blob. He would make more sense leading Scotland more than the Celts. If the Celts do get mashed up together I wouldn't want William wallace leading, though Boudicca is a great general atm, she does make a great Female leader choice for the celts as an alt leader, If there are some alternates for female leaders for the celts I don't have one on the top of my mind atm. I'd be interested in seeing how the celts are protrayed in Civ 6.

I am reading the post, the person is allegedly working as QA, checking bugs and incorrect translation, he/she started the post on 12/01/2017 in hopes that people can bring up issues they see in the game and help with QA. He/she constantly replies and interacts with others through out the past month.

The passage you were looking at via google translate basically says he/she just finished fixing civilopedia for leaders. And then, he was like “you guys are pretty satisfied with the recent announced Cree Civ right? I am not, because there is only one civ thats the strongest - Shaka, tremble before the Zulu spears. But then again my personal favorite is still — Brave Heart”. Somebody replied “You are not afraid of losing your job for leaking this info?” To which the person replied “you guys pretty much guess this one already, so it is no secret”. I also saw this person hinted at Zulu back on 12/23 “black leader in Africa from CIV 5”. The person didnt mention anything else regarding the Celts except for brave heart

A couple more interesting things:
1. The person suspects the chinese leaks of chandraguopta and Cree are intentional, he/she said it was “probably OKed by management”
2. Adam Smith’s ability is allegedly changed to provide one govenor rank (or enabling recruitment of a new governor) and give 500 gold.

In summary, my thoughts on this are if this turns out to be fake, this person is one dedicated and calculated troll.

(ETA: take this with a pinch of salt but if my interpretation of Google's mangling of the post is correct, this person is writing the Chinese version of the leader Civilopedia entries, or claiming so anyway)

Google Translated what I think might be the right bit of the page:

Don't get me wrong, I love Celtic history and culture and I'd really love to see a Celtic Civ. They do mention Celts by name (according to Google Translate anyway). I'd be a lot happier if it were just Scotland as a Civ - I would actually love to see that. The mention of Braveheart gives me a small grain of hope. But I think going off this it sounds more like a generic Celtic Civ with Wallace as leader.

Thanks for helping us out with the translations much appreciated.
I would guess more trolly than true

If this guy is a legit employee of 2K China, then Firaxis has made poor design/leader choices for this expansion. Stereotypical spear wielding Black Africans, and Stereotypical Kilt-wearing, warpaint covered Celts.

I don't think there's any chance we won't get an African civ - the pattern of the Civ V expansions, which I expect them to follow this time, is at least one civ for each area Firaxis treats as a region (Asia, Europe, Africa, the Americas).

They'd no doubt choose Shakala. If she was good enough for Civ II...

As for warmongers, we've only seen one so far so there's little reason not to expect a second. The Celts and Huns were both in Gods & Kings, while Gods & Kings had the Zulu, Assyria and Poland. For all its peaceful options Civ has always been a war-focused game first, so you'd expect that if any civ type was overrepresented it would be warmongers.
