Pornography for 14 year olds

Brave New World was a dystopia, not an instruction manual...

Pornography is mostly fiction and always twisted reality. It is not a matter for school, which should teach real things.
You can teach sex classes, and even show positions from the kamasutra if you are so liberal and feel so compelled to teach them in class (I think it is not needed, and ruins the natural relationships between a young man and woman). Anything but pornography.

Possibly. But my point is that ponography is inevitable. So in the midst of all the filth, why not promote(I'm not saying in school, that'd be awkward) something natural and realistic.

What Shadylookin said: anybody with the internet can get pornography.

Yes, let's teach pornography to give a natural and realistic view of sex. While we're at it, let's show Texas Chainsaw frickin' Massacre to give an accurate portrayal of the mentally ******ed.

Pornography for 14 year olds?

Kids are having sex at that age these days, right? They've probably already seen porn. *Real* porn.. on the internet. weird stuff, with cups and midgets and goats..

Let them watch whatever they want, unless it's something stupid like racism or twilight.

I could care less if minors get their hands on any porn, but the idea that pornography is especially demeaning towards women is hogwash. Pornography has male performers as well as female, and there are many different brands. Some studios produce films that are of more romantic interest, in order to appeal to female viewers. There is also plenty of gay porn, both male and female. You can't tell me that gay male porn is demeaning towards women. The only reason that so much pornography is focused on male pleasure is because most of it is viewed by men. Men are more aroused by visual stimuli, whereas women are more interested in psychic stimulation. Your typical romance novel is most clearly women's porn, designed to arouse a state of mind without resorting to images.

The comments by this Norwegian critic are rather revealing of her own interests, however.

Because that is really boring pornography. If you're really going to get into the business of promoting pornography, be prepared to come face to face with the bizarre and dizzying diversity of human sexuality.

For once I get to post a non-superfluous link (and a true classic at that):

No matter how warped your perspective may be, a real woman will set you straight in a matter of minutes, or else let the cold street be your educator. Stay away from those red lights though... ;)

Porno per se is of course not demeaning to any one, but who ever claims that the typical conventions of modern porn aren't demeaning to women should really do their homework, and surf around bit.

The media in general gives kids pretty unrealistic picture about human sexuality, and porn doesn't help there much. So why not make something good of porn? Give it some certificate that would allow distribution to teens. Perhaps they could learn that ugly or fat people have sex too, or that sex can be about love, not only emulating piston.

It's pretty odd btw, that USA seems somehow to be the most obsessed about sexuality in both ways: flooding it everywhere, but also being terribly scared about it. It seems like these both obsessions were two sides of the same coin.

Porn is legal under free speech laws, whats the issue? Anyone has access to free material anytime they so desire. It's already a readily available public good, I see no need for the government to provide it.

Unless maybe a government owned sexual worker "educates" everyone. That my be something to get behind.

I see no reason why Amateur porn shouldn't be shown to teenagers. It's better to give them a proper education regarding how you have sex, with real people, instead of just teaching vague concepts, and using cartoon images.

IMO, 14 year old people would benefit from seeing two adults with average* bodies going at it, possibly in missionary style.

*average dick and breast sizes, and maybe even have some overweight people.

When I was 14, they took us to this sex clinic were they gave us condoms and stuff, as well as giving us the opportunity to pose anonymous questions to professionals. My teacher tried to underline the importance of not taking the average porno seriously; "The people in it are actors, playing out something fictional." Then he spoke about his sex life and how to please a woman :goodjob:

I'm not opposed to this in principle, but I think this sort of thing is best dealt with in Sex Education in schools, to give realistic expectations of girls.
