Pornography for 14 year olds

In order for something to be demeaning, value judgement is necessary on the part of the actor. And all value judgements being subjective, the term demeaning doesnt hold any interpersonal objective truth value

It however has truth value for about 99% of people, so your comment doesn' really have any consequences.

And if you think it has, I'm eager to hear you rethink all the mises-things you've produced: "Taxation is wrong" has no objective truth value. "Allow guns" has no objective truth value. "crypto-libertiansim/anarcho-capitalism/whatever is right" has no objective truth value.

You just simply hold different criteria for other people's arguments than to your own.

Implying that pornography is inherently demeaning to women is just dumb in my opinion. And that thing about body ideals, I find meaningless. Judging by the front covers, teen magazines are far worse than anything when it comes to these things.

Agreed.

And I'd add that it's demeaning to men as well. I'm usually expected to put out sexually since I'm a male, therefore I must be permanently horny from society's PoV.

EDIT; and I'd like to add that I'd adore more natural pornography as the current sort just doesn't do it at all for me... It's too idiotic.

Couldn't agree with you more, lJ.

I think the problem is that the concept of sexuality, sexual knowledge, and sexual images being is some way harmful to adolescents is just foolish as hell on the face of it. But from the ridiculous premise of sexuality being in some way harmful, all else ridiculous follows. In the US at 14 many kids have had sex, and many more have seen porn. And they go on to have normal lives. Where they get screwed up is the sexual repression of society that attempt so prevent them from having healthy attitudes and practical knowledge of sex. If teens don't have knowledge of sex, they're going to go looking for it. And trial and error method of finding it causes vastly more harm to vastly more people than having the broadcast tv after school special being porn every day could possibly do.

It's demeaning to men and women. The fact that this question is even being asked just demonstrates how warped our culture is. Imbeciles who think the pornography question is just a matter of "brainwashed fundamentalists ashamed of the human body that are impeding social progress" can shove it.

Should you not put a statement up along the lines of xtian therefore completely biased in my views ?
You do not get it do you, anything fundies are against some of us would believe is worth having a look at just on principle.

And I think anything you're against is worth a look just on principle, because you're not only completely biased, you're also barely articulate. You should put up a statement when you start a new thread saying something along the lines of "otagan thread therefore partisan invective". Or just refrain from starting new threads.

Sorry dear boy, but are you attempting to state that if I put a thread up you have a Pavlovian response in being forced to click on it ?
Now that is a sad state of affair for you to be in, help is available.

Yes, let's teach pornography to give a natural and realistic view of sex. While we're at it, let's show Texas Chainsaw frickin' Massacre to give an accurate portrayal of the mentally ******ed.
I find it rather sad that you seem to believe sexuality to be something inherently bad, compareable to something like mass murder....or maybe you were just setting up a strawman :p

First person shooters like Call of Duty are demeaning to soldiers. I demand them banned forthwith.

One would like to think that those who have been preaching the absolute joy of ignorance in sexual matters would stop and reconsider after they find that their STD and pregnancy rates are high.
We have the same thing down here among too many if our Island community, Tongans etc, because of their religious beliefs too many of them are utterly ignorant when it comes to sexual matters.
Their parents often hold the children back from school if sexual health is being taught that day.

Are you attempting to patronize me?
Are you attempting to state that I need help if I read your threads, but if you read LightSpectra's posts he needs to put up warnings?
I read your threads for amusement and to get an idea of what I should disagree with, because you are almost uniformly mistaken on the issues you care about enough to mention.

I don't think sexuality is bad. I think it's a beautiful, natural thing. Your classification of my beliefs as such, is a strawman.

Pornography, though is a highly demeaning and unnatural thing. It demotes the inherent dignity of the person in order to exploit biological arousal from other people. It also gravely dehumanizes what should be an act of love and turns it into an act of hedonism. People who participate in pornography and prostitution either do so because their financial troubles make them think they have to, in which case the creators of pornography are exploiting their bodies for profit; or, because their childhoods were marked with deep psychological problems, that once more the creators of the material are ready to deepen and exploit for a buck. It's a horrible business and it saddens me that sexual arousal holds such a sway over our society that it's a nearly indestructible industry now.

I have not encountered much research to suggest that an addiction to video games at an early age results in severe psychological trauma, or that the people who make video games are having their fundamental disorders or contextual difficulties being severely exploited or deepened for cash.

How about paint-ball? It's a representation of war and gun fights, making people feel like it's fun "shooting" each other...

:p?

If research comes up to suggest that people that become addicted to paintball at an early age face severe psychological trauma, then I'd condemn that as well.
