Pre-ChuckNES: Discussion Thread

Birth of Agriculture, Metalworking, and Towns Great and Small

On a green and blue planet, long long ago, something blossomed upon its surface and in its oceans that is both rare and precious. Life begun billions of years ago in the oceans of this young world. Hundreds of Millions of years later complex organisms formed, millions of years passed as they evolved and gone extinct until plants grew on land, followed by plant eaters on the banks and crawling meat eaters. Then, life bloomed again on the surface as they evolved, in the last great period between Mass Extinctions ruled the dinosaurs and their tiny cousins the mammals. As the Dinosaurs are wiped out these mammals evolved to rule the world. A branch of mammals, grown to adapt to fruit bearing trees, begun to grow smarter and in the last hundred thousand years human life begun to form.

For all these years there was not one thing who thought why? Who Thought How? Who asked questions to nature, who are smart enough to think of truly conquering it for the future. But as human-like creatures evolved they and their cousins begun to think of the future. As they evolved on land they surpassed their cousins in the trees and spread over the world. Countless Ice Ages passed as these humans changed and made the best tools ever known to nature. As they lived they began to separate into groups that lived, believed, and worked the same way. And so, at the end of the last Ice Age cultures are spread on earth. They have collected years of experience in tool making and belief and begun to change to world like no other creature on earth has ever done. Humans have started on the final road to civilization.

West of the a River known as Jordan rose tall walls, inside the walls lay granaries, fields, and the first cultivated plants and animals in the world. They are protected in the world against Nomads from the desert and other envious tribes. For to surrounding them are hills of Obsidian, a prized stone known for its sharp edge. It is one of the first walled settlements known, and it is in a culture known as Chunherra.

The Chunherra are known for there minor cooperation and almost universal respect for the Great Shaman in this area. To the north, a small group of stones and a brick house lies his home after he is chosen. All the tribes, except those to the east who have nothing to give, respect him and more and more tribal ‘leaders’ trust him. It is known that agriculture here forced the first population problems of the world and groups of Pioneers traveled north past the dusty hills to a rushing river full of life compared to the hills they crossed and better than their old home. There, they grew as Chunherrans and knowledge of how to cultivate the plants spread.

In Ervih on those rivers who migrated from surrounding hills they ate the grasses but didn’t find our how to grow them until the Northern Chunherrans showed them that they must place grains of the grass instead of the leaves, which are useless unless for fodder and that this sacrifice is used for even greater gain. So small towns begun to grow and Ervih became Servih of the lower rivers that use more extensive canals and the Orhiv of the hill lands next to the river who doesn’t need canals to cultivate and kept their hunting.

In Africa, agriculture is practiced by small villages on a great river. These peoples, Revils, Migrated from a dry grassland to the west that turned into desert. They believe that the sun fell into the grassland due to their fighting and one day, a king will unite them all and when he dies he will tell the sun they are united, however, they all disagree who’s leader is the king and they fought small battles for the control of other villages. Three of them are the hometowns of the leaders that gained the most villages. However, they are small compared to the semi-agreeing Chunherrans of the Shamandom and the Great Chiefdom of Darali, or Great Peoples in their own language and the extent of their peoples.

The Darali are good hunters and warriors, they are also known for their equal respect of both the shamans who took on an ceremonial role and the warriors, who expanded the land of the Darali. They expanded north up the river after the ice age ended and pushed into England before the sound was flooded. Those peoples between the sound and the Darali homeland are beaten, sacked, and enslaved by the Darali Chiefdoms swelling in size after the beginning of agriculture. The Havian, or Daras, the great enemy, are known for their long flint-flake swords and after being pushed out split into two groups. The one to the East, the Savian. Are often enslaved and raided, but the Daras Havian in the West became fanatical in recapturing their homeland. In a Great Battle that say the rise of the foundation of the Great Darali Chiefdom nearly 1000 of them are slaughtered after an invasion, some call mass migration, into a valley and the first battle is fought. The Coalition of Darali Chiefdoms supported one Chief to rule them all and their forces enslaved 500 Daras Havian at a cost of 300 Warriors known to be buried in the nearby hills.

This forever changed Darali. The Great Chief, continued to be supported by more and more lesser chiefs, managed a large land of Darali homeland. When he died another one is elected and the Great Chiefs begun to build a crafting complex to protect a growing craftsmen what made better weapons for the warriors and with shaman aid, mystic tools of their religion. They also made jewelry and their crafts is traded all over Europe.

The other tribes of Europe are changing as well. Yural and Tashia peoples collectively mingled culturally as they moved into the Italian Peninsula. In what is known as Thrace and Yural splinter tribes of Horan began to beat gold into items. All across Europe herding and agriculture spread.

In India on a river to the West a brick city known as Dibution is the first evidence of agriculture. These peoples are peaceful and are pretty advanced. To the south, a splinter culture that is also peaceful became distinct after the oldest known wheels and pottery shards are found. Also, they are known to trade spices and hunt. The Bungundo are known especially for the first Copper working. They are the most advanced people known.

In China agriculture appeared separately on the Yellow River. risen live in separate villages and respect older family and ancient ancestors.

Far away in another group of continents Dog Sleds criss-cross the north Tundra. To the Wood lands these peoples are much more primative than those in the last group. To the deserts people work on pottery. In the center small religious sites rise up above the jungle. To the south on the Mountains corn is cultivated and on the Great River small warlike tribes practice what they learned for millions of years/

For years they will continue to advance, who knows where these minds in these cultures. We do know, however, that Civilization will rise in the millennia to come.

Dark Grey is tribal/Chiefdom player cultures. Light Black is the extent of majoraty of that culture. Light Gray is NPC Cultures and it should be easy to find out who is who. Color is a group together. The Three blobs in Egypt are the 3 kingdoms and the light black is the total extent of Revil culture. White is either diluted culture or small unnamed.

Question. I feel so stupid asking this question but our we talking about the map on the front page because if we are I can see it perfectly. If not then where is this map we are talking about?

Edit: nm. Might edit this later if I decide to join as a new nation, but a NPC would be so much more appealing to me :). Pretty please with cherries, peaches, apples, pears, etc on top?

If you take an NPC you still have to take the stuff from scratch until Interesting times.

Please Joakim! Send orders! I'm almost done!

Late Orders (Charles Li PMed me and said this was alright).
Priority 1: Northern Expansion (towards the northern Euphrates)
Priority 2: Political unification

Ok, update soon!

Almost done, expect it this after noon!

(Lord Joakim, I'll take that as Metal Technologies and Large ships.)

Oh damn! I someone deleted it! Still this afternoon!

UPDATE DONE!

Map almost fixed!

YAYAYAYAY!
Please! Write Stories that will be the basics of the legends in the future and please! Enjoy the update!

Hey charles, that update was pretty sweet! Well done :)

Map has a few pixels out of place (not coloured in) IMO its sloppy if you don't tidy that up before posting a map.. its only 5 mins work.

Great update I am in full agreement with Abaddon. Things have gone very well for the Darali and legends have been made. See below for a story.

Tales of the Spirits

When the world began there was only three beings in all of creation the Great Spirits of Life, Death and War. From them stems all the other spirits of the world and from them stems the world its self. The Great Spirits had no love for each other though and great wars were fought between them. The entire world spilt into three camps of Life, Death and War....

One day a boy of no real significance was born into the world. He was a member of the Darali tribe during the hight of the Spirit War and thus was destined to become a warrior as all able bodied men and women had to. The Darali had chosen the path of War. The boy grew and learnt how to fight in combat. By the age of 20 he was a vetern of two campains but he did not long for war as all other Darali did. He longed for peace....

The Great Spirits at this time were planning, the last act of their War was about to begin and they didn't know it. The War Spirit started this last great battle when he mustered all his tribes and spirits to his realm. There they rested and trained and after a hunderd years they were deemed ready. The Life Spirit was conquered in a lighting attack, the battle barely lasted five years and thus his armies fell. The War Spirit was about to slay his age old enemy when a man of 120 stepped forward and stuck at his master! The War Spirit fell wounded and fled then the Life Spirit was forced to flee by the man as well. With all the tribes of the War Spirit at his back, His spirits fled to aid their master, he soon defected the Death Spirit. Thus the war ended and the ice of Hatred left the world and the Mother Spirit sent forth the growing things once more and the world returned to peace. ( The Mother Spirit is Mother Earth the spirit of the plant and though she was strong and could have stopped the War she was busy keeping humans, plants and animals alive in the Ice Age. This story describes how the Ice Age ended according to Darali myth.)

Claims the honour of posting the first story for this Nes.

Stories:

The Tabrian Wars
The Tabrians were a people from a region that some argue should be considered the far east of Anatolia, in the northern Euphrates-Tigris region. In this period they had adopted a partially agricultural society, and were arguably more agricultural then the typical Orvih.

They were a single tribe, but were primarily unique for the temporary establishment of the Tabrian Empire. Using war as their means, they disarmed and enslaved the other tribes in the area through a series of suprise attacks, turning them into a laborer class. Word even reached lands of the Great Shaman of their existence, and their belief they were his equals.

Henjin of Tabria, a Tabrian warlord, would begin a policy of trying to expand against the Orvih peoples one by one, hoping to subdue them as additional slaves. These actions are generalised as the Second Tabrian War, and ended in some conquests but an empire which was stretched for manpower, trying to govern both the Tabrians and the southern Orvih terrortories.

Henjin's problem was that he had supreme confidence, but not the ability to back it up. Other tribes, fearing another suprise attack, would begin their own, and the foward guard of the Tabrians was soon massacred along with Henjin.

The Tabrians would withdraw back to the north (having accidentally established an empire of the Jothilheim, with many Tabrian influences, in their place), and begin a lifestyle based on an armed slave class. But for now, they were not so significant...

Orders:
Priority 1: The spread of agriculture to Palestine
Priority 2: The creation of a system by leaders outside the Shamanite area of primary influence looking for justification for wars of seizures of power send messangers to the Great Shaman applying for such (and the Shaman using this to political advantage)

It's a nice map, but we need culture names on it.

Priorities : Spread techs to other Indian areas. Begin travelling by seas.
