Pre-Thread: ImmacuNESV

I'm guessing the Zombie stands for being made of cannibalized parts of other machines.

No, it's because no ImmacuNES is complete without zombies or people conspiring to unleash zombies of some kind on each other.

Serisously, it happened in every game... Probably more to do withthe fact that zombies are, well, zombies though.

P. S. But I jest.

Quick question about how factions within a nation work: are military assets controlled by factions listed with other military assets for the nation? Mostly I wonder because it feels like I should have a bigger cavalry-to-infantry ratio if the Stranger's forces are included

No- all military assets are included- but i see what you mean about your ratio- i think i'll change that next time i have the file open.

This is very probably what the tech tree will look like at game beginning:

Chemistry
  • Molten Metal/Salt Batteries ( 12 ) Molten metal or salt batteries provide high efficiency energy storage while advances in thermo-stability allow apllications at both the micro and macro scales.
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Synthetic Fossil Fuels ( 12 ) While fossil fuels have been depleted on earth, liquid fuels have proven incredibly useful in many applications. By 'charging' low-energy hydrocarbons, synthetic fossil fuel technology allows a new era of energy-hungry engines for military and industrial uses
  • unknown ( ? )
Physics
  • unknown ( ? )
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Electronic Warfare ( 12 ) Control the electromagnetic spectrum. Eavesdrop on your opponents and protect your communications.
  • Fuel Cells ( 12 ) New generation fuel cells typically produce energy from burning hydrogen in a polymer exchange membrane. Alterantively liquid fuel from biomass can be 'burned'. Fuel cell technology is critical for a 'hydrogen economy'.
  • unknown ( ? )
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Scaled Thorium Atomics ( 30 ) Whie thorium atomics will never truly be 'portable', scaled thorium atomics allows their use in large ships, providing greater range and reducing port time for your navy. Requires Thorium Atomics
  • Solar Energy ( 12 ) While most nations are quite capable of generating some energy from solar power, this technology represents the specialization and manufacturing required to increase the efficiency and portability of 'sun-power'.
  • Thorium Atomics ( 12 ) The last of the non-renewable fuels, thorium is plentiful, though not cheap to extract, and can provide sustainable, reliable energy on large scales.
Biology

  • Genetic Manupulation ( 30 ) GMOs weren't that bad for the 21st century were they? While monocultures probaby were, genticically modifying crops or animal species in of itself can increase productvity in a wide variety of ways. Not to mention human medecine. Requires Molecular Biology
  • Man-Machine Interface ( 12 ) Early exploration of a rapidly growing field, the man-machine interface utilizes 'squid-like' neural induction systems to send a signal to a computer directly with only a thought.
  • Molecular Biology ( 12 ) The basis of many other technologies, molecular biology is responsible for a bewildering array of medical advances and a growing number of commercial and industrial applications.
  • unknown ( ? )
  • unknown ( ? )
Computing
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Cyberwarfare ( 12 ) Malicious attacks upon an opponent's command and control systems can lead to havoc and confusion. A probe can provide valuable intelligence. Cyberwarfare is as valuable to the modern nation as an army or spy- often it can be either.
  • Immersive Software ( 30 ) Based on the capacity to send a signal from man to machine, immersive software 'reverses the polarity!' and lets man see, with his optical system, what a distant camera sees, or feel, with his tactile system, what a distant robotic arm feels. Requires Man-Machine Interface
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Optical Computing ( 30 ) Electronic based computing is so passé. Increase speed and storage by adopting photonic computing systems.
Industry
  • Advanced Robotics ( 30 ) Robots that walk, slither, crawl and possess previously unimaged agility and strenth. Requires Composite Materials and Robotics
  • Cermets ( 12 ) The union of metals and ceramics, cermets are a very specialized composite material. These materials form the basis for much of up and coming high-tech industry.
  • Complex Composite Materials ( 12 ) By bonding two or more compounds, composite materials often take advantage of the best of either while minimizing the disandvantages of both.
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Nano-Scale Manufacturing ( 30 ) By exploring the intricacies of manufacturing at very miniscule scales, a variety of new tools and devices are revealed. Requires Composite Materials
  • unknown ( ? )
  • Robotics ( 12 ) Robotics have critical functions in industrial contruction and exploration of systems man is unfit to do himself.

Question. Could you change the name or the organization, Board of Spiegel Corp, to just the Board?

Logic being, the Board is supposed to be the governing body of the entire ETC. Theoretically speaking, anyone, even those outside of Spiegel Corp, can join it. It's just that 90% of it is composed of Spiegel Corp leaders and 10 % of it is made of people who owe Spiegel Corp, one way or other. It's still a plutocracy after all.

Of course, you can argue that technically speaking, the Board of Spiegel Corp directors IS the Board of ETC.

Hmm, not sure, but Benevolent Oligarchy is probably closest to what I imagine.

Yukon Czardom

Government: Totalitarian Czardom

Spoiler :
The Yukon government has largely reverted to the indigenous Inuit lifestyle and values that was once held before the modern age. But there is a few differences with them being that society and government is more centralized than traditional Inuit societies. This would be because of the adaptation of the Canadian/British idea of a central monarchy and the Russian influences largely inforcing it. The totalitarian methods used by the Yukon is influcenced by the Russian Czardom of the past.
The people themselves are often very xenophobic and the government is no different. Most Non-Inuit Canadians have been enslaved if not killed. The exception to this is Canadians who have knowledge and information that’s deemed too important to loose.
Curiosuly enough, even with the xenophobia there is a certain level of respect if not admiration for the Russian culture and tradition. Even if this isn't admitted by any average Yukonite. Prohibition is in full swing and anyone caught with bootlegging are killed on site. Any establshments found to be serving the substance are shut down and then the managers are killed. Religion plays a heavy role in the Yukon and it could be said that the Yukon is almost a theocratic goverment.

Military

Spoiler :
Once again traditional Inuit methods are being used. Kayaks, bone spears, (and in limited cases guns) are still used. However, due to the climate change the need for warm clothing has dropped down dramatically, and its allowed food sources, and resources to not only grow but flourish in the new environment. The style of warfare used is a hybrid between the unconventional Inuit fighting style and the fighting style of the former Canadian government. The navy is mostly primitive (with kayaks and canoes being the base of the Yukon Military) but surprisingly enough; there are a sizable amount of modern ships, including several submarines, destroyers, and three or so battleships. With ice no long being a major issue sailing in the Artic Ocean has been easier than ever and has caused a sharp rise in wooden (and occasionally metal) sailing boats. Motorcycles are used by many of the militaries elite forces and use machine guns. These are far and few between with most of the mounted military using horses and basic guns if not bows and arrows. The icebreaker ships of the old have been modified to be more light weight, and suited to the new climate or just destroyed and the materials being used for scrap metal.

Religious Ideology

Spoiler :
The Yukon has largely reverted to the traditional animism that was once present in the area. Although Christianity and other religious (western religions in particular) are present but are in constant hiding because of major religious persecution occurring in the Yukon. The exception to this is Orthodox Christianity but even at this point, it's been modified to be more inline with the traditional Inuit relgion. Technology isn’t effected either way by the religious ideology in the Yukon with there being no approval or disapproval. Also due to the past struggles with alcoholism prohibition is in full swing with any bootleggers who are caught being killed on site. Although this hasn’t ended alcohol consumption it has vastly lowered the rates of alcoholism in the Yukon. The religion plays a very heavy hand in the government and monarchy but oddly enough, the Yukon religion is rather decentralized.

Energy

Spoiler :
One of the really stong points of the Yukon is that the amount of various resources (both newly available (eg: solar, and hydroelectric) and already existent resources ( eg: oil, uranium, natural gas, and coal)) has allowed the electrical capacity of the Yukon to expand. However, most of this electricity is used to power buildings of critical importance, (eg: government buildings, factories, military bases, ect) and is rarely used by the general public. It’s important to note that the capital of the Yukon (Whitehorse) is an exception with electricity being present for those who are able to pay for it. This means only the very rich are able to use electricity. Most people still use fire as the main source of lighting.

Industry

Spoiler :
With climate change many new industries arose in the area. This would include forestry, and farming most importantly. Factories are present in the Yukon and are used to produce military equipment and vehicles only. The Yukon is especially well known for producing motorcycles with an attached sidecar and has two large machine guns. As for food pemmican is still largely used as well as the new food crops present within the nation. The methods of farming and harvesting food have largely reverted to the use of the bow and arrow, spear, and (if lucky) a gun (usually a hunting rifle or shotgun).

Location

Spoiler :
Northern Yukon, Alaska (the northern and western parts especially), and the very eastern edge of Russia.

Please change this as need be, I know it's outlandish but it's different.
