Update 1
Uptick
It is within these times that the men and women of the Earth journey onwards and carve their own path through the trials and tribulations that present themselves to all. Cities die, are born, are created and smashed to ruins, but life, and hope prosper. It is a golden time for the construction of cities, and more and more are raising themselves up out of the muck and such, while static settlements are multiplying in several locations around the world. The wheels of Municipal Darwinism are traveling on, though, and already the casualties and fatalities are becoming known. Tian and Beijing slash at the Anti-Traction league and vicious hunting parties of reavers and murderers prowl the far reaches of the Earth, picking off what they can chew. It is a golden time, but a dark time is coming, and it will be fierce.
The Great Hunting Ground
Minsk, the wandering city packed to the gills with artillery, has been causing trouble up at the edge of the Ice Wastes once more. This time, heading to a lake to replenish water supplies, it was intercepted by Amalta-Upon-Ice, which shadowed the city as it replenished it's stores and worked upon expanding them frantically. Word that Panzerstadt-Aachen was on it's way reached the city, but with Amalta-Upon-Ice's careful tactics, the city was not keen on being caught out in the open. Attempting to draw the city upon a merry chase, Minsk dragged it northward around the bony hook of the Vile Boneyard, before the Ice Wastes itself. There, under the cover of night, Minsk extinguished all of it's lights and bored down onto Amalta-Upon-Ice, ramming it and taking a massive chunk out of the wounded city. General Karina Vostoki was sent over as well as six squads of soldiers, as Minsk detached itself and started firing it's massive howitzers at the wounded city as it tried to escape from Minsk's wrath. However, due to the actions of Karina and her soldiers, they quickly were incapacitated and slowed to a halt, forced to watch as Minsk tore into them and started devouring the city. The male populace was enslaved, while the females were brought into the populace; Minsk scavenged the city and took valuable things from it, including topping off it's water supply and getting a healthy amount of food, as well as weapons and gold pillaged from the city.
Minsk, being an enterprising city as it sped along the thin edge of the Ice Wastes, worked hard at identifying some Old Tech that it managed to scavenge from the husk of Amalta. For the most part, it was rather worthless, and for a time, Minsk turned to refining it's food for a quick buck upon the market if need be. However, a powerful energy catalyst was discovered amongst the odd and random bits that Minsk pillaged, though none know what it can perform or do. At the same time, a Minsk tailor began development of the Photo Holographic Electrical Banner (PHEB); though just a crude prototype, it is an awesome spectacle to behold if truth be told. More soldiers were recruited for the coming wars that Minsk may face, as it cultivated more parks (an odd sight to see when you frolic in the shadow of a 425mm Howitzer cannon).
South of Minsk's wild adventures, R'lyeh lurks amongst the shadowed swamps of what was once Arabia. The pact that is pursuing it have been crawling through the murky swamps slowly but surely, clearing trees and rubble as best that they can. Murky visages of the ghost city that they are pursuing can be seen from time to time, but shots fired into the silent woods are greeted by nothing, no sounds at all. Bizzarely enough a pestilence has struck two of the cities and they have been forced to halt and tend to their sick as best as possible while eight more cities forge onwards through the woods. R'lyeh has been playing a careful game, shadowing both parties as much as possible, and waiting for an opportunity so strike like a serpent from the shadows so it may consume.
R'lyeh has focused a large amount of cash into research in an attempt to find something, and have been making steady process towards... something. None can say what it is, but from what it looks like, it is a set of oddly crafted devices, with sets of strange runes and labels upon them that make a chill go up one's spine upon looking at them. Though it is uncertain what they can do, the Head Researcher of R'lyeh promises that they will "Show those upstart pinpricks of towns how it is done." Fishing and distillation of water goes along pleasantly aboard the city, and R'lyeh has sent out several airships to look for a trade partner. There is word that a town called "Stoke-On-Teeth" is near one of their airships and their course.
Speaking of which, Stoke-On-Teeth is starting to get rather close to the blade when it comes to the hunting pack that is pursuing it. They are none too pleased and while the city has been able to escape so far, their time may be running out here soon...
Carthage has been busy as well, much like the other cities; setting sail and raising sails to say the least, they are moving across the ocean away from the islands that they have been a part of for years, in the hope of reaching "the Lost Continent" of North America. It is a lonely and desolate road, though many wrecks of broken ships and cities dot the way out, but by the time that they have made good speed, they have left those behind them as they burn hard and fast for the other side of the ocean. Expanding farms and such, as well as stores and desalination facilities, Carthage is in a boom at the moment due to all of the excess food that they are producing. Research into fertilizers and plant seeds to further increase productivity are underway, and scientists are rumored to be at the verge of a breakthrough regarding wheat.
The flying city of Lubeck soars onwards (like an albatross) and has been meeting up with several trading clusters and trading with them as it goes southeast. Not satisfied with gold, they have been diving out of the sky and smashing against small, lonely towns that are slow enough and not wary enough to watch the skies, and Lubeck has carried off plenty more gold and food and water supplies, but the pact that stands against them grows ever larger. A trading cluster set up by Rome, Naples, and Sarda, is up in swing while Lubeck makes it's way to there, it's holds filled with gold and supplies to trade with.
Work on the research front has been slow but steady; Lubeck has taken a bizarre interest in Stalkers from the era of the Nomad Empires, and has been picking up and acquiring specimens en masse from them in droves, while cutting them open to examine the internal workings. Some of these Stalkers have not been quite all that... dead yet, and multiple researchers later, Lubeck is proceeding more cautiously on that front while researching Old Tech acquired by dropping it's bulk on cities closely in the hopes of a breakthrough. Meanwhile, an airship has been sent to France to scout out and determine what is going on over there, and to possibly recover artifacts if presented with them.
The Far Orient
Canberra's antics have constituted gobbling up static settlements that Seoul has been barreling past, while closing the gap rapidly between the two cities. Multiple shots have hit the other city hard and destroyed multiple wheels, leaving it to limp hurridly away, but gravity is on it's side when going down hills and valleys in the area, while the lighter Canberra gets nothing of the sort. Seoul is in such a rush, that many are starting to wonder what exactly is it that the city has onboard that is making it so inclined to hiding away. More professional soldiers and mercenary troops have been brought aboard for the coming battle, around five squadrons in all from the amount of monetary funds spent upon them as Canberra closes the gap to a mere five kilometers, with Seoul backed up against the coastline.
Zulleni Military Academy in Japan has been hard at work building up it's Metropolis. While trying to find a cure for the God-Emperor, the Academy has added onto it's engines by creating a third one, as well as expanding it's farming and it's military supplies in order to provide for the city. Advances in geriatric, pediatric, and neurological care have also advanced to the point that the life expectancy in the Academy is among the highest in the world at this point, while a public campaign to smash corruption has turned out highly efficient, bringing their corruption down by a staggering fifty percent, if not more. Subsidies are also being provided in the city to the populace in order to encourage population growth, as well as a internal banking system in the city. Both have seen moderate success so far. A non-aggression pact has also been formed with Tokyo by this point in time.
Antarctica
Penguin pies aside, it has been quiet for New Christchurch, with the city moving towards the Ross Dependence area and offering it's oil left and right. Other cities have started to cluster around the town and trying to do business with it, as New Christchurch becomes the center of a new trading cluster. It's enemies though, are still out there, and mumbling to each other on plans of what will be done when the need arises. Christchurch has also offered lower taxes to a friendly city that is also in the area, in return for the same to it as well.
There's nothing to say but I screwed up regarding getting this update out, answering questions, and lagged behind. Stats will be out tomorrow, but it's my fault that it's so late; my mistake on that part.
