To be honest, whoever gets elected, I will disagree with about a third of what he does, or more. As such, I say Paul, then Huckabee. Don't know much about the Dems, though.

You know, that could be ascribed to the fact that Ron Paul is against big government... :mischief:
heh you mean like, the elected federal government's an over politicized sham that doesn't do much to run the country?
Those of us who like him probably prefer him not working with the government...
Right. Thanks for backing up my point. :p

Over politicized? I don't object to that. Sham? It sure claims to do a lot of stuff that it doesn't. Doesn't do much to run the country? Well, that's a subjective way of putting it. ;)

So I exaggerated to make my point. But most of the country, federally speaking, is run by bureaucrats appointed by the executive. That makes the president very important, but for most things, the people he appoints even more important.

At this point, probably Obama. The Republicans don't offer much for me in the way of voting for one of them. I don't like Rudy, Romney or McCain, but I have a feeling the former mayor might take the nomination. I might vote for Fred Thompson if he ever gets to deciding whether to run ot not.

I'm never going to vote for Hilary though, I just don't like her.

So, your main concern is that Ron Paul won't be able to appoint effective people to those offices?

edit bleh my post sucked

If Hillary and Romney get the nominations, I just might vote for Romney to see if he and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will collude to get Orrin Hatch appointed as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

 John McCain is not in the poll.

who are you are supporting and 3-5 reasons why. Please don't get this thread locked. (At least in the first 2 pages, it's probably inevitable.)

Me? Mitt Romney.

1) I have a moral objection to abortion.

2) I am anti-Socialist.

3) The Iraq war has gone wrong in many senses, but I support international/interventionist activity if necessary to combat what I believe is a genuine threat from "Islamic radicalism."

4) I believe Romney has a shot.

Close Runner-up: Ron Paul. (Wait, you say, doesn't that conflict with 1 and 3? Yes, that's why he's a runner up.)
Does abortion really sway your vote that much? I mean does it really matter what someone else chooses to do? It's not your business because it doesn't affect you. That's like me saying I support a candidate primarily on the basis that he she wants to legalize same sex marriage. The issue doesn't affect me but I'm damn passionate that it's morally right.

Oh Poo. Well if there are McCain supporters out there, then speak up.

And murder is indeed someone else's choice and darn straight, I want a government unwilling to let them make it. That being said, there are other reasons I support Romney, including his foreign, economic, and energy policies, and on top of everything, I think he's a conservative who can win.

I personally want a government that will allow me to beat puppies to death.

How can abortion possibly be considered murder? Honestly grow up and open your eyes. It's not like people have abortions for fun and profit. It's a choice of last resort. And if you ever helped take away my girlfriends right to take her future into her own hands I'd punch you in the face.

Have you considered the child's future? Are there no adoption agencies? If pro-lifers are childish ignorants, then "pro-choicers" (as if the child had a choice) are selfish goons more concerned about there pride and comfort then the ethics of destroying an unborn fetus. Sorry if I step on any toes, but please don't reduce it to a matter of "you're an uneducated moron because do don't support my right to choose."

That's right! I don't support the Pedophile's right to pick a life partner either! What kind of sick Nazi goon am I?

Maybe so, but It's a fact that alot of children who grow up in adoption agencies and with foster parents are messed up. Honestly, it's better to do the deed while it's unconscious than give him/her bigger chance at a life of misery. Maybe it's selfish, maybe I want to bring a child into this world on my terms not on somebody else's. I'm not saying it's an easy choice, my Gf and I had a scare today, and my sister went though the ordeal as well. I'm just saying, let a sleeping dog lie. If you want to save souls save the living in Sudan and Iraq not the unborn in the West.

I support abortion but only with the males consent. By the way this is the defination of murder.
The crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought.
Also it's not a person at 3 months or less. It can't think, It can't survive on it's own.

Yeah, we're godless, hedonistic, baby-murdering machines who only care about themselves. We also eat the leftover festuses. I had a few for dinner this evening, with some fava beans, and a nice chianti.

Actually, if you're a foster kid over eighteen in my state, the state's dumping you off. The state government had to make big slashes in the budget this year, so a lot of foster kids are pretty much boned.

Huckabee is actually one of the most consistent and principled Republicans up there. But he'll never win -- he raised taxes once, and has criticized NAFTA. You can't win in the big money party with an attitude like that.

Romney, of course, can say whatever the heck he wants. He had a 300 dollar make up job, and has flip flopped on guns, gays, and abortion. But with 750 billion dollars, that buys you a lot of support in any election... especially the GOP Primary.

Ron Paul is a racist. That might play well in the GOP, but he'll get slaughtered in the general election.

About blacks in Washington, D.C., Paul wrote, "I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal."

This is a very ignorant statement.

GOP members support racists!

Give me a break.
