Previously uncontacted tribe photographed

So someone explain to me again way it's bad if someone makes contact with him? And then living in ignorance is a good thing?

I take your point, but meeting them will be of little benefit to either society and will destroy theirs. Realistically, they arent just going to integrate and be using laptops by next year. We (the rest of the world) should allow tghem to make contact with us if they want, but I think its fair enough to leave them be, they obviously dont want any contact with the rest of us or they would have emerged by now.

Is it a bow the guy is holding on the photo ? Hard too see but his posture makes me think he's aiming at the copter

Quoting the article:

"Disease is also a risk, as members of tribal groups that have been contacted in the past have died of illnesses that they have no defence against, ranging from chicken pox to the common cold."

One of the photo captions says:

"The government said the name of the tribe was not known but the warriors were strong and healthy."

-Yeah, but no match for modern armor. ;)

It'd be nice if these were higher quality images. It's like a glimpse into another world.

you know whats mad? If you could somehow communicate to them that millions of people from lands they never knew existed were now discussing and looking at images of their tribe from 10s of 1000s of miles apart form eachother at different times of the day over boxed with light coming out of them, they probably wouldnt believe you. the concept would be preposterous to them

These are probably bitter people clinging to their bows and religion. If the Dems refuse to seat their delegates for Hillary, this can only hurt Obama.

Is that the whole tribe?

And I think we just found a new ethnicity, red people. Let the red people stereotype begin!

Lets bomb them back to the stone age!

I think we should invade them to stop their WMD programs. 100 years oughtta be enough to put down the resulting insurgency.

I think someone just violated the Prime Directive.

Thats exactly what I thought, then I remembered thats the prime directive is just a fictional thing on Star Trek.

Not cool. Majorly not cool. Don't we have spy satellites that could photo 'em without making first contact? Sigh.

Imagine how freaked these guys must have been at thesight of a plane...

the equivalent to us of a UFO appearing over our house and then flying off.... must be terrifying for them in a way

Like these guys said. So lame.

So someone explain to me again way it's bad if someone makes contact with him? And then living in ignorance is a good thing?

Because contact will utterly destroy their way of life. And probably kill a large portion of them.

To be fair, I doubt this is going to shake their foundations to the core... (As long as we don't fly over there again, that is). They'll forget about it, just like we forgot about the aliens that visited us in 1493.

EDIT: I don't suppose anyone's tried finding these fellows on Google Earth or something?
