Computer for the reasons stated above . Such systems though would always be hacked. Or at least people would try to.

I don't have a car.

Or does that just mean I don't get a choice? :scared:

Read the OP.

Even if you don't have a car or drive a car or whatever, just assume that you do, and you use it fairly regularly, for the sake of this exercise.

C - Overthrow our communist dictatorship

I'd be screwed if the police knew how many driving offences I really commit. Computer crime, not so much.

Computer > Car, but to hell if I'd let them monitor either!

They promise that none of that information would be used unless you commit a crime...
If they know you committed a crime, why would they want that information? What is the connection

Perhaps you meant "...in the event that you are suspected of a crime" instead? This somewhat changes the scenario as it implies they will check it periodically on the assumption that everyone can commit a crime at least once.

I do not assume this. Isn't it possible that we want neither and prefer to devices registered in another's name? I already do.

Replacing or using a different car/computer won't get the gubmint out, as they've gotten into all of them.
Even foreign imports? Does your gubmint controls all governments? Do you have a picture of your gubmint?

Unless you commit a crime, the gubmint will not use the information gathered about you. Assume there's some sort of automated crime detection system or something.

Dude, it's a freakin' hypothetical. It doesn't matter who's name is on the car or the computer, the gubmint sees you using it. The gubmint is global, the gubmint sees all.

I think you're just trying to be clever. :nono:

Something like in Minority Report?

Computer - I do so much illegal things in my car ....... I am a threat to everyone and should be locked up :cringe:

There's really no such thing as liberty when it comes to driving - the entire point of rules while driving is safety. Essentially all cries of nanny state/1984/etc when it comes to driving is irrelevent when it comes to driving. (Though I'm talking about driving here, not actions in the car per se - so something like using a cell phone while driving would count, but not masturbating to pix of Lucy when the car's parked.) The computer, on the other hand, is an instrument for expressing oneself and what crap - there's no question that I'd prefer that to not be censored.

Neither is acceptable to me and I would go down fighting.

I hate Google too.

tbh, I actually more often commit quasi-crimes on my computer than in my car.
