Question for Europeans

 I am the first one who ever replied to this thread and I kept the language civilized, now all of you are just throwing mud in each others eyes, and it makes me :vomit:

So can any of the moderators close this thread, it leads to nothing.

EEK my eyes! I'm blind! Mud in me eeyeees!

Seriously, debate can be heated, but I am always nice to my
fellow earth-people on the forums.
I have seen no massive transgressions on this thread so far...

People feel strongly about certain things...it the way of the the world! :goodjob:

It is the way with most threads dealing with controversial subjects. We just try to keep it to a minimum and edit the posts that are way out of control..
And Juicy, stop spamming.

Eh, just delete it (like this one)
I remembered something and edited that post.

(WTH, it hasn't any edit markings? Now I'm really  )

Don't hate americans. be very afraid! that goverment posses more nukes than ever needed to destroy every single lifeform on this planet, twice. Hope they learn from history. Before all will be history.

But in civ3 i generally DO hate the americans. I'm playing the Persians (in my first ever regent game). The Persians, as you know like in "the Iraqis"; and am doing quite well. Have a continent that I share with the Zulus and two villages in the mountains from the americans and the chinese.
Now MY foreign police is to never wage war! (although the zulus need to be thought a lesson once in a while, but i never invade their territory, only do some border patroling, never take their cities).
But now. all civ's have just about researched tanks. Oil jumps up all over the map. ALL OVER! damn no, ofcourse not in MY territory. My neighbours are starting to feel my failing glory. **** what do i do now? Hey the americans have extra oil, wow and wadaya know they are willing to trade it with me as well. High priced ofcourse. But I don't have any choice. (talk about a reversed world). But hey aaaaaalll the way down my island deep in zulu territory, but at the sea there is a tiny village with rich oil deposits near it.
Do I dear lauch an attack?! Hum

no I have my honor, now war for oil.

But hey a few turns later, i just renewed my deal with the americans for oil and gave them some expensive tech, the zulus jump on my territory with 10 knights and just about the same numbers in spearmen, and archers.

Being the nice neighbour that i am, i kindly ask them TO GET THE *{^§ OUT OF MY BACKYARD! they answer. you've guessed it.

so i start moving the bulk of my small (don't like big ones) army to my borders with them, and start fighting (only to get elite units to produce leaders) within my own borders. Never invading them at the chockepoint.
But at the same time, i've been building two transports (never got around producing a destroyer to protect them, not enough time). and when loaded with a mix of artillery, cavalery, infantry and workers they set sail (do modern ships still set sail, hum...) to Bapedi, right next to the zulu capital. I quickly take over the town (the bapedians never knew what hit them). disbanded some of my wounded cavalry to quickly build a harbor. And cancel my deal for oil with the americans. porblem solved.
Oh yes, since i don't really like wars i checked with the zulus if they didn't think we could be friends. and they offer me just about anything for peace (which i accept ofcourse).

so now a few decades later. still global peace all around i guess (i've placed three carriers strategically all over the world, so i kind off have an idea what my 'friends' are doing). I've never played this far, so i was checking out on civfanatices how to go about nuclear weapons. (don't like em either, but have to have em so my friends won't just start throwing them at me). Am building the manhattan project, and the UN so. the situation on this planet seems about to undergo a drastic change.
i'm second on this planet since bc turned ad the Iroquois have been leading all the time.
Exitement!!

Wow, you really found an old thread (Oct. 2001) to post your first message in! ;)

Why do Europeans hate America? Not all do I am sure, but it sure seems like it from these boards. Now, before answering JUIZE, MIKOYAN, HAKAN, give me a reason. Not "because you are fascist pigs!!!" Is it media propaganda over there? I mean, if your country was attacked, who is the first you'd call for help? America. Who is the first that would call you to offer you help? America. Just curious. Real actual reasoning would be appreciated. Doubt I'll get it, but hey, stranger things have happened.

There is many reasons the US is unpopular here in europe, let mee name some of them for you:

Nature, to many people it seems that the americans are destroying the environment.

Agressive Politics, the americans go to war far to often, just to promote themselves, remember if a president have won a war he has much bigger chance of getting re-electet.

Religion, its not the fact that most americans are christian, its the fact that they are using sentences like "god bless America". That with the agressive politics make it sounds like they are going in holy war.

That is just some of the reasons and ofcorse not all europeans agree in that.

I wondered what this old cookie was doing.. still being at the top part of the forum. What a heated one this was.

Dog

This means absolutely nothing at all but at least it sounds good.

I know, it sounded like a moralising voice-over at the end of an outer-limits episode. I realized it as i wrote it.

open end

My game:
i did get elected Secretary general of the UN and won my 3rd game in ten years playing civ, civ2, calltopower, 2 and civ3. Wooohow, glory! I usualy never have the patience to stick it out till the end. i got a score off 1648 (is that good? on a regent game, standard map, raging barbies)
Greetz.

i think he means that you miss typed it!

shouldn't it of gone like this: i hope they learn from history before we are all history

No I meant what I said. The statement is pure rhetoric. It has no meanings but sounds good all the same. Examples of this type of speech are often found in political speeches.

And in many of MrPresident's posts. :p

Maybe, it's because you spend all day on a forum about a game few of us play much anymore and spend every free hour of our short, pathetic lives as a bunch rethoric spewing idelogues who will never, ever agree on anything?.....wait that would be moi, in your case it would be the fact you have 1000 chimps on 1000 type-writers

Well always good to see you're apes with the most cutting edge technology! It's actually a part of the monkey's union demands, they could have gone on strike and demanded more bananas, unless you're hiring scab monkies of course

There is a book:

"Why do People Hate America"

written by Ziauddin Sardar and Merryl Wyn Davies

ISBN 1-84046-383-X

It contains a lot of truth (and rubbish too).
