What does this mean? I couldn't find anything in the random events list about Sparta Games.

I think the name in the random event list is "ancient olympics" or similar. It's a possibility for some leaders to get +1 with each other.

Think there is an exception to that if you have a Permanent Alliance. My PA partner popped some great people now and then, and I noticed needed :gp: went up from e.g. 600:gp: to 650:gp:, so half the usual step.

Something just happened in my current game I've never seen before. At the start of my turn I'm notified that I captured a barb city Angle. I look up to see my vassal has a chariot in the captured city. No notice that Churchill gifted it to my. It happened as if I captured the city. Anyone have an explanation?

You have a very valiant vassal. Was the city far away from Churchill and in Liberate distance from your borders?

I have noob questions. A game is starting to drag into modern and I forgot how2modern. The only thing I remember is that the whole planet quickly turns into a desert, just like it did in real life

Which of the city :yuck: modifiers count towards global warming :yuck:? Only buildings, completely negated by Recycle center? Not power, "Bonuses," or population?

Also, just out of interest, there is something about feature growth chance being the basis for forests/jungles countering GW. So is a preserved jungle the highest defense? Or are forests and jungles rated the same? Do lumbermill plots not count (since they do not spread)?

I think GW completely negated by Recycling Centres is only a feature if you got the Global Warming mod installed. It's part of BUFFY, but I'm not sure about BUG.

Yep, I very much doubt it is a feature of BUG, which is supposed to stand for BTS Unaltered Gameplay!

For my part I am pretty certain that population :yuck: does not count, but I thought I would ask.

However, Power adds +2 :yuck:, even if the source is clean. I am sure you are aware that the factory and industrial park add a sort of synergy penalty, listed as "Bonuses," only when the city has access to coal and oil. This is distinct from, and cumulative with, the inherent unhealth added by the building and is not negated by a recycling ctr. I have no idea if the city having power or these lingering penalties adds global warming or not.

Weird. I'm almost 99% sure, that I can't even select Coal Plant in my NP-city. The only thing I can imagine is, that it works with Oil, but I thought I had tested that already and Coal Plants really only worked with Coal.

No Oil, Coal Plant being built. I continued the game and finished the Coal Plant, and it didn't provide power. I think it might be because it needs Coal to produce power, not to build.

Seem to recall I could build one too, but it is pointless. You can get power in the NP city, but not from coal. Build Three gorges dam, and you get power in all cities on that continent, even the NP city.

Since you :ninja:, looking at the screenshot, that isn't a great place for the NP. Okay, it's big and you don't have :yuck: issues now, but the best use of the NP is typically to put it in a city surrounded by forests or jungle, put up forests preserves on all of them, and get a FREE specialist for each preserve. This way the city becomes a GP farm, and often a very powerful one.

Needs good planning ofc, and not always possible on the smaller maps.

It was a duel map with 18 civs, so there were no forests left. I normally use NP with Forest Preserves on less cramped maps, but that wasn't possible this time.

You can build a Fort on the tile east of it and road it too, better than forting the Iron, so yes, you either need a road-connection to a city or a Fort to get that resource.
