Yes, I liked the Civ3 editor (as developed by patches and Conquests). Along with seeming very intuitive, it was a seperate program so you didn't have to load Civ *and* start a game just to use it.
 
Three questions:
1) When you're a financial civ, the Colossus doesn't seem to add an extra coin to water tiles- is this correct?
2) I've always taken the Spiral Minaret to mean you get one coin for every state religion building in the entire world- is it actually only SR buildings in your own civ?
3) In this screenshot, one of the water tiles only gives two coins (I'm financial and have the colossus as implied above). Why the heck is it like that, and only in one square??

No, the Colossus still gives you an extra gold on water tiles, to a total of 4 (rather than 3). This is the case on the 1.61 patch, anyway. :)

I don't know, that seems like a weird bug. Looks like it's resulted somehow from that other city being nearby... which would probably be under the control of a non-financial civ, right? So perhaps the game has somehow mixed up the city radiuses and is giving you the "other civ's yield" for that tile. Though I'm not entirely sure... hmm, once again, are you sure you have the 1.61 patch?

are you sure you have the colossus? Maybe you already know astronomy, which obsoletes the colossus?

no, if you have the spiral minaret all religious buildings in your cities give one gold (in the city where they are, not in the spiral minaret's city)

hard to tell, this is theoretically impossible for financial civ (there is no 2 commerce tile for a fin! it's 1 or 3 commerce).
Looks like a bug (lord parkin may be right).
Try using the tile, to see how much commerce you get.

The Spiral Minaret only works for the religious buildings of your state religion though, not for all religious buildings, but it is for all your cities.

You get it in all cities conected to the tile. Cities and tiles can be conected by roads, rivers and coast (once you have sailing).

This was about the special resources. I misunderstood/misread. I had marble in my city borders, but didn't receive the bonus for the parthenon; had to build a road fast! :blush:
 
Oh yes, I forgot that I had researched Astronomy, thanks guys! I don't think I remember checking my water tiles in the pretty-few number of turns between building the Colossus and researching Astronomy (I took it as my free liberalism tech, in fact)... the second question's a weird thing though. Also didn't know it was in each individiual city that they get the coinage from the SM...
 
If I'm the first to get the Emancipation civic, should I use it? Will it only make the other civilizations unhappy and leave mine as it is?

Yeah. Emancipation causes unhappiness in all enemy cities. Make sure using it is worth the loss of the civic its replacing though.

I'm way ahead of the other Civilizations. The Barbarians are the most advanced after me. I'm going for a cultural victory, but once I get it I'm going to wipe out the other civilizations and I was thinking of using emancipation then.

Can barbarians be completely wiped out, so they don't spawn anymore?
 
But if you and the AI have colonised the entire world, and there is no space left where any land or coastal tile is "unseen" by any civ (it doesn't have to be you, just as long as some civ "sees" those squares), then there can be no more barbs, and you are completely safe from them. :) (Barbarians, I'm almost certain, cannot spawn in ocean tiles. Also, I'm almost certain [can someone else confirm this for me?] that barbarians can never get any naval units better than the coastally-limited Galley.)

I don't understand the difficulty settings in custom game. If I set the AI civilizations to Prince and my dificulty to Noble, will they have an advantage over me, or will it give them more penalties than I get?

If you set the AI difficulty level at something higher than noble, then they will have penalties compared to the noble level. Leave the AI's at noble level and play at higher difficulty levels yourself.

So setting the AI at higher difficulty levels makes it easier for me. Alrighty then. Thanks, again.:)

Yes but the AI only knows how to play at noble. So leave it at noble and play at a lower setting yourself to make the game easier.

In the game I've just finished, I didn't play a custom game. I just went into single player. I had it set on Settler, so does this mean the other civilizations were playing on Noble?
 
Ok, culture will only spread out into water a maximum of 2 tiles. Or as a kind of exact rule :P, any water tile must be a coastal tile, or touching a coastal tile.

And galleys (or ironclads for that matter) can travel anywhere in your culture (including ocean tiles). I don't think this is mentioned in the manual and to be honest I've only just noticed it.

1. If you are to cross into an enemy civ's water, i presume you must go directly on to a coastal tile of their's. Is this correct?

2. I am really weak on modern era units. Could someone tell me whether SAM infantry are able to intercept aircraft that are pillaging your improvements. Also when they intercept are they able to kill the unit or just inflict damage?

Oh, and 3. Could someone direct me to a thread which gives details on exactly what certain units will upgrade to and the cost of that upgrade?

Reading through this thread is putting more questions in my head :D. So..

4. Considering that chops count as base hammers and are adjusted by modifiers, to what extent do u think it worthwhile to save chops for projects with positive modifiers (e.g. walls with stone), considering that all other base hammers are increased as well and if u chop they will not be producing as a high a yield for as long.
