i don't play culture victory so that spamming would basically be for increased happiness in the city(for more productivity) and maybe gold income since i have several holy cities

If you are going for Free Religion, then spamming is good. If you have shrines, then the religions of those shrines would be good (not others as that would help the AI, whom I presume has the other shrines).

Most people would say that you'd be better off just building military units instead of missionaries and murderising your nearest neighbour.

You need 3 temples for each cathedral.
This number actually depends on map size, for the record. It varies from 2 (on small maps) to 4 (on large maps), I believe. And it's 1 in "One City Challenge" games.

That's what I get for only playing one map size, ha ha.

Religion is a big thing in this game... so many uses.

Is there any difference in the Gold Edition or newer versions of Civ IV and the original version combined with Beyond the Sword or are they just repackaged version of the same thing? Looks like I need to uninstall and reinstall my Civ IV to clear up a possible corrupted file so I can download from this site and what to know if they have made any change in later versions of the game before reinstalling it that might warrant getting a newer version since it looks like it is going to get a little work to get it uninstalled since there isn’t a uninstall button on my version of the game.

I don't think so. They are basically the same. Gold is just all in one install instead of having to install them one at a time.

Plus I believe the Gold edition comes pre-patched, if I'm not mistaken.

Help can't play game, so I tried to reload game. It couldn’t reload. So went to control panel to delete and it wouldn’t, but says it's there. Deleted files in program files. Screwed up there probably. IM screwed and I don’t know what to do…
Thanks for your help

I got two messages from the forum and I can't find what they say?

The worldbuilder ( as the name says ) is the official map maker from Firaxis. There are some others made by players ... you can find some in the Creation & Customization area of the Civ IV forums, like this one

Theoretically there is no upper limit for the size of the map. The limiting issue is your comp :D

What DRM does the EU Civ4 Complete (without Colonization) use? Is it just a disc check or is it something like SecuROM or online activation? Thanks!

I don't have Civ4 Complete myself (instead having the separate versions), but I'm pretty sure that if you patch to the latest version (3.19), that enables you to play without the disc. At least, it does for the regular version. Very nice of the folks at Firaxis to do that for us with the final patch, saves a lot of hassle and bother. :)

Thanks for the response, so is it just a basic disc check out of the box and then it's removed for one of the games if I apply the latest patch? No online verification or anything?

Hello all,

This forum is a great resource. I've been trying to find an answer to my problem, with not a lot of luck. I forgot I had a copy of this game and recently discovered it packed away in a closet. I installed it and started it up. Next thing I knew it was 4am...oops.

My problem is with the city management screen. The game seems to constantly make changes to what tiles get "worked." I don't have any of the automation buttons on. Also, there are no health or happiness deficits in the city. So I don't know what is wrong.

For instance, the city will show that is in "starvation" mode. So I'll place a white circle over a farm so that it can be "worked." When I end the turn, that change does not take effect.

Is this because I don't have enough citizen's or specialists? How do I know if I have enough? I presumed that if I can place a circle over the tile then I have enough citizens. Ack.

Any help/explanation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT/UPDATE

I figured it out. I was trying to work the same tile from two different cities! The change in perspectives (from map mode to the city management screen) made it very difficult for me to figure it out. On top of that, I have poor spacial reasoning. I'm the guy who can't figure out the IKEA assembly instructions.

I'm really glad I could figure it out. This was really bothering me.

I got a notification that jade was discovered in an iron mine (currently being worked in the city). Do I have to do anything special to make use of this, or will it do so automatically since the tile is being worked by the city it is in?

It's just a bonus to that particular mine. If you use the BUG mod, you will see a notification above the mine.

This is correct. The disc check is removed from the latest expansion - Beyond the Sword - but not normal Civ4 or Warlords. So if for some reason you want to revert to the earlier versions, you'll either need the discs or some alternative way of getting around the disc check. And I don't recall ever being required to verify anything online during installation with any of the games.

I presume this was from a random event, granting a production bonus to a tile? If so, you don't have to do anything - the production bonus will immediately apply to the tile from now onwards.
