Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

and using notepad (I just get text)

Uhm, yes? Isn't that the point or have I perhaps miss-interpreted your intentions?

Notepad allows you to edit the WB save, but Agis is trying to play it. I understand the confusion though.

Samson, provided the correct solution above by placing the save in My Games/BTS/Saves/WB, and selecting Play As Scenario (or Custom Scenario).

I'm trying to think of possible issues, and only thing I can really come up with are the following:

1) The save was placed in the wrong folder
2) It is not actually a WB save
3) Maybe something with the Mod

Not sure what TAM is..is that "The Ancient Mediterranean" . I thought that was an old vanilla mod.

Where is this WB save from? Did you create it?

Agis are you running this mod in BTS or the original vanilla CIV IV version?

The mod was a vanilla mod, but it has updated to BTS. It comes with a folder full of maps of the med, recommended to play with. While these do not work, the rest of the mod seems to function perfectly, but only with random terrain, not suggested by the mod creator.

So these are maps you tried downloading separately, right?

Try placing them in the Public Maps folder located within the TAM mods folder. They should be available to Play as Scenario

There probably already are some located in that folder

Public maps is the correct place. However, recently with newer OS's you can't click on saves anymore - WB or no. The maps should be available in play as scenario just leaving them in that folder.

Sounds good but they are not there. I am not that bothered really, but it is a shame. I would have liked to try the map out.

What version of Civ are you using? (clarification: steam, disks, digital,)

Have you loaded the mod first before trying to Play the Scenario? I don't think the game will see them unless the mod is first loaded, because they are located in that mod folder

Yes

Interesting..so it worked as in you were able to see it using "Play as Scenario" ? Glad you got it to work..have fun

Yeah, the 100% bonus against Chariots also applies to any special Chariots. Same for any similar case.

I read something about Espionage that said you can turn off espionage in BtS. But there are some implications concerning culture or something.

Can someone tell how this functions? I don' like espionage.

Are there other important differences beween Warlords and BtS?

Choose 'custom game' when start a new game--> 'no espionage',then espionage points will be culture points.BTS has new civilizations, new leaders, some changes in traits(expansive worker +25 % speed not 50%),new game concepts like corporations, updated forts examples, new buildings, changes in tech tree and many others.
