Ok, as long as you two promise it'll end in a draw. Or, alternatively, the loser could change his rank (as posted under the name) to Vassal.

The religion still exists, but there is no holy city for that religion any more. This means that no-one is able to get the "line of sight" bonuses from cities with that religion anymore, and no-one is able to profit from building the shrine of that religion anymore. What happens when a holy city for a religion is razed?
Obviously, any buildings are also destroyed. But does the game pick another
city where that religion is dominant, and assign it as the holy city?
Or is there simply *no* holy city for that religion any more?

Incidentally, one thing I'm not sure about and am curious of the answer to, is that when a holy city is razed and there are no other cities in the world with that religion (obviously this would most likely occur in the early game)... and there's no spare missionaries hanging around... is the religion itself lost from the world forever? (Ie it can never be spread by chance to a new city, for instance.)
It depends on your personal preferences... I enjoyed Civ3 immensely for a long period, but eventually my addiction switched to Civ4. It's probably safe to say that whichever one you choose to play more now, that's the one you'll end up liking more. So it's up to you.I just picked up a copy of The Chronicles of Civilisation in the Sales. (£20 quid, no bad)
Anyway, it's got Civ 1 right through 4.
Back in the day, I was a big fan of 1 and 2, but haven't played for years.
With no idea what 3 or 4 are like, I'm seeking advice from you hardened veterans. I'd assume 4 would be the best, so cracked on, sorted out the install of that etc.
Is 3 worth a look?
Yes, you can pay to hurry production in Civ4. You must be in the Universal Suffrage civic (which becomes available with Democracy). Then you just go into the city screen, and click the "gold rush" button. (It is a small button on the bottom-right, amongst several other buttons. If you hover over each of them with your mouse you will get a text explanation of what each button does.)In Civ 3 you could pay to complete a task can this be done in Civ 4? How you you upgrade units (pikemen to riflemen as an example). Thanks for the info

ah fog of warThere's actually a city there (taking up 9 tiles), it's just your map is "out of date". Once you explore those tiles again, you'll get the updated map, and, along with it, knowledge that Japan has a city there.

What is it exactly you want us to do? Give you advice for Civ4? Sorry, I just couldn't understand from your post.
Obviously it must have to do with searching around your cities, but what exactly do they mean by "fog busting"?
Barbarians only spawn where you currently can't see. Even if you have seen an square but at the moment it is a grayed out because you can't currently see it then a barbarian can spawn there. So to fog bust is to set units outside of your borders so that barbarians can't spawn there. They will still spawn farther out, but there will be less of them and you will also have more time to deal with them. If they spawn far enough out they might head for AI territory instead of yours.
If you put archers on top of hills they can see the farthest, then the barbarians might fight them instead of heading for your cities.
I haven't seen the AI react at all when I've been obviously heading for a cultural win. The logical thing would be to declare war against a foe that's starting to lag in military units and techs, but I've never seen it do that.I thought of that (as what "fog busting" probably meant) but it seemed too unit intensive.
Does the AI react to you approaching victory conditions? Obviously if you're approaching domination or conquest, you've probably started enough wars to offend everyone. But does the AI care that you're sauntering towars Space or Culture victory?
OK, first of all, where did you install the patch from? Did you do it inside the game ("Advanced" -> "Update"), or did you download it from CivFanatics Centre or some other download site on the internet, and then install it yourself? (I'm not too good with these technical things myself, but hopefully this question might help to give a clue as to the source of the problem.)Hello,i`m new to the comunity and if you have time please help me with this

Well, up to 5 or 10 XP anyway. Not that fierce. (Those are the animal and barb XP limits which your units face, respectively. It's also a good way to freely buld xp for a unit; get it promoted something fierce.
It can be unit intensive (especially on larger maps), but most people find that (especially on the high barb settings and high difficulty levels) the unit investment is well worth it, for the time saved from not having to deal with pillaging and irritating barbs near your borders.I thought of that (as what "fog busting" probably meant) but it seemed too unit intensive.
No, the AI does not worry at all about the human player being close to victory. Of course, if it had any "sense" (in a human way), then all of the AI would gang up on the human player once they started to pull too far ahead of the rest of the pack. (And indeed this happens regularly in multiplayer with humans.)Does the AI react to you approaching victory conditions? Obviously if you're approaching domination or conquest, you've probably started enough wars to offend everyone. But does the AI care that you're sauntering towars Space or Culture victory?
