I take it by "first expansion" you mean Warlords. No, you don't need it to install and play BtS. All the Warlords content is included in BtS with the exception of the scenarios.

Yep I meant Warlords, thanks that answered my question.

what happens to my nukes if a city i have them in gets captured. My enemies don't have any uranium only me.

I believe that nukes, in that situation, are treated the same way as ships or air units: if they're in a city that's under attack, they can't defend, but they are destroyed if the city is captured.

How quick does it take for "We fear you are becoming too advanced" to disappear, if I gift a leader 2 recent technologies and an older military tech?

I wanna gift him some to get on his good side, and hopefully, he will allow me to trade his obsolete tech which I need

3 possible ways:
- if you and your trade partner are both in the lower-half part of the score board (dead civilizations count!), then WFYABTA does not apply
- if you are friendly with your trade partner, WFYABTA does not apply
- otherwise, once in a time, a leader will forget about a tech trade and so go under WFYABTA status. But it's so rare that I would not count on it. Better befriend him to the point of friendliness.

Is there a guide on National Wonder synergies and parings? I could have sworn I saw one in War Acadamy once, but for some reason I can't seem to locate it now. I might have the wrong titles I'm looking through, or maybe it was the forum or maybe I was just dreaming.

1. How exactly does first strike work? Does it mean that the unit with first strike gets a free hit at the beginning of the battle?

2. What is the difference between base peace weight and aggression level?

3. What does warmonger respect mean?

1. How exactly does first strike work? Does it mean that the unit with first strike gets a free hit at the beginning of the battle?
First strike is a combat round at the start of the battle where only the unit with the first strike can cause damage, i.e. if it wins it causes damage if it loses it does not lose hit points.

2. What is the difference between base peace weight and aggression level?
base peace weight is a modifier that determines inter-AI relations basically those with similar values will tend to love each other and those with very different values will dislike each other mostly.
aggression level is a generic value invented by dj_anion in his BtS reference - I am not sure which values he used to determine it.

3. What does warmonger respect mean?

Warmonger respect is a value that gives a bonus in inter-AI relations between warmongers. Have a look in my sig for details :)

1. How exactly does first strike work? Does it mean that the unit with first strike gets a free hit at the beginning of the battle?
Nope; it means that the unit gets a free chance of hit; or, in other word, a round of combat is performed where the opponent can't damage the unit.

3. What does warmonger respect mean?
Each leader has a warmonger respect, between 0 and 2. Each AI-to-AI relation is modified by the minimum of te warmonger respect of both leaders. THis modifier is hidden, you will never see it on the diplo screen.

Is there a way to save a map and reload it with different game settings? Say I start a prince level, epic speed game as gandhi, but after exploring around I decide I would like to use the same map as a one city challenge monarch level, marathon speed game as Rameses? is this possible?
I have never done so, but I've read that the main idea is to enter the worldbuilder, do a worldbuilder save (a button in the upper row of the main menu), then load that as a scenario.

To Ori and Juju,

So warmonger respect and base peace weight apply only to relations between the AIs, but not AI relations to the human player?

Hello, just bought the game a few days ago and im yet to win!

Anyway, im getting better, but i cant figure out how to use the missionarys, they never seem to have an extra option along the bottom middle bar like other units do.

Is is as simple as just putting them in enemy territory and leaving them?

I usually automate my missionaries unless I have a specific city I want them to target. That being said, move them into any city that doesn't have their religion, and I believe you should get an option button to "spread religion" or something similar.

The extra option is the religious symbol. It only lights up or appears when you are in a city that would potentially accept your religion (NB there is always a chance of failure); when you try to spread religion in a theocracy the symbol is dimmed out.

If I down load units (which are awesome, thanks to all) onto a cd and try to get them into BTS, what is the best way to accomplish that?

Thanks again

Question:
If I were to take part in Democracy/Multi-Team Democracy, and one or more players didn't have certain expansion packs added, will I still be able to participate in the match, albeit without the races those players don't have for sake of fairness? Or would that only happen if it was the host of the game that lacked said expansion pack(s)? What would a player see if they were missing one of the expansion packs and I used a leader in said pack?

e.g Suppose I use Churchill, but the friend I'm playing with (true example) only has CivIV and Beyond the Sword, because Warlords was out of stock at the time he purchased the game. Would he still be able to recognise that I'm working as Churchill?

Thanks for hearing me out :D

While I can't answer your question directly, you should know that all Warlords content except for the scenarios are included in BtS.
