Quick Answers / 'Newbie' Questions

hi
i am new here and i have doweload soms Leaderheads, but where do i need to place them to get it in my game?

I'm not too new, but I have a question. How can I change the stats of units (i.e. redcoat and cossack) say, to what they were in vanilla? And maybe tweak a few others units to my likings. I have absolutely NO idea how to change a unit's workings.
If neither of you get satisfactory answers here, try the Creation & Customization forum

When uploading a mod, say Charlemagne, I start playing, do the advance start, press begin, but I think there's a problem with what I see in the screen. All I see is the terrain, the city, the units, etc...I can't see the scores on the side, or the mini-map in the bottom right corner, or the details box in the bottom left corner, or Unit Action box, etc...

When I double click on the city, I just see an overhead view of the city. I don't see the queue, or the build menu, or buildings in the city, etc...

I have version 3.19 BTS and I am running the BUG version.

I can't answer that question for you; just wanted to be first to say WELCOME to CivFanatics! [party] :band: [party]

Seriously, this place is the most addictive and helpful place for civ.

Don't press BEGIN in an advanced start until you're done purchasing all your cities, units, techs, etc. Alt+I will toggle through the interface options--maybe you got stuck on the minimalist option?

Do you think the HA rush is completed to late, (If done successfully.) On an average? It's a powerfull thing, it is. But I just think it's wierd when you are at 1AD after you are done. Sitting there on your 3 cities. (Well, I guess maybe 8 or so because you conquered your opponent.)

Do you think that they take too long to complete for how much they give? I know it all depends, but on a basic understanding, what would you say?

I'm trying the OCC Space Race win based on a strategy article in the forum. The author of the article stressed the need for Oxford University to build those extra beakers.

Am I wrong, or don't you need six Universities to build Oxford?????

In OCC there are no 'x number of Theatre/University/etc' requirement (the amount changes with map size in non-OCC games). You can build Oxford with just the single University in OCC.

Hey!

I pressed some random buttons (don't ask why)
and now when I look at my city screen, it showd previously only one city's tiles (the one I selected).

Now it shows all my cities at once! How can I revert it back?

I think also I changed view poistion, it looks like I look far on map.

Also, you can build cathedrals with just one temple.
In fact, if I recall correctly, the only thing you can't build in OCC (apart from Settlers) is Versailles.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean... can you post a screenshot?

From the sounds of things you've managed to zoom right out on the map. I can't remember the shortcut to zoom in again off the top of my head (although there is one), but you can zoom in again by either (a) scrolling the mouse wheel, or (b) clicking the "world / magnifying glass" button at the bottom-right of the screen above the minimap.

Hope that helps. :)

Hey everyone, I'm sure this is a dumb question but I'm stumped...playing BTS and I need to access an old message (to be specific, I need to know exactly where a resource is that I have been challenged to get). Any help? Thanks in advance.

Ctrl+Tab brings up the event log, and for most events you can click on their text to change your view to the corresponding place. I'm not sure if that will work on the Greed quest, though.

Resources are revealed by corresponding technoligies. Once you have animal husbandry you can see horse resources. Old messages are located by clicking on the little book/scroll in the upper left hand side of the main screen.

While I couldn't click on the text, I was able to at least see which civilization I was supposed to go get the copper from. Thanks :)

Was specifically looking for the info above, to get the greed quest message. Also, there is no book/scroll thing on my main screen in Beyond the Sword  Thanks, though.

if you only have 3 cities at 1 ad you're doing it wrong. If you have 8, you could be just fine, or not, depending on circumstances.

How come when you setup a trade route and check all of your cities. It says that it is only coming from thier capitol?
I don't quite understand what you are asking.

If you mean "your capitol", then the reason for that is that when your number of trade routes exceeds the number of foreign cities that are available for trading with (i.e. number of civs you have Open Borders with & a road/sea route to * number of cities they each have), then automatically your trade routes stop going to foreign cities and start going to domestic cities. Your capitol is always the default city that a new trade route will go to if there are no other foreign options.

I hope that makes sense, and is what you were asking for. If not, please post a screenshot to elaborate on what you mean. :)
