Quick Questions / Quick Answers

Is this something I have to install extra? Have I missed anything else? If I haven't provided enough information I can look at my mod list in game tonight.

The first 2 options will install Vox Populi, which is the full package. The default option includes EUI (Enhanced User Interface) and the 2nd does not. Some folks like EUI and some don't, preferring to install other UI mods instead (such as whoward's many picknmix UI mods). Your choice. The 3rd and 4th options are limited installations that leave out some of the gameplay and balance addons included in Vox Populi. You'd only use these if you were going with alternative balance mods, or want more of a vanilla experience along with bugfixes and AI improvements.

There's some discussion concerning an alternative, custom UI overhaul for Vox Populi, so you may be referring to that thread. I don't think that's off the ground yet, so you aren't missing anything. EUI presents a number of difficulties from both a usability and a modding perspective, thus the interest in an alternative. Nonetheless, it does incorporate a wealth of information and functionality that is lacking in vanilla. I'd experiment with both options to see what suits you.

edit: like vyyt says, there are alternative mods that address individual UI components. Mainly whoward's stuff and MM's city screen. Some gameplay mods also have their own UI elements (e.g. JFD's mods) which don't play nicely with EUI, even if they're otherwise compatiple with VP.

ok. I think I do have it all. I had been so long since I'd have played vanilla Civ V I probably just didn't realize all the UI improvements. Thanks.

That still leaves me a bit confused on spies. Is there some other way to interact with them besides just setting the to spy/diplomate when you send them to enemy cities? I've never noticed mine stealing gold/research/produce like the AI does to me. Maybe I'm just missing it?

Keep watch on the drop down notifiers... your guys will occasionally pull something off. It's automatic.

I haven't gotten deep enough into a new game to see the updated spy interface.

so bcoz of my gandhi game crashed and it is still just partially fixed, i began new Askia game. One of most funny early game i have played, ever. god of war with raging barbs on and early dow on elizabeth gave me enhanced religion far earlier than most even founded. however i want ask on part of his UA- river city connection. As im playing him first time now, i noticed that most of my cities connected eventhou they are not on same river. I connected just one coastal city with road and the others two are also connected. Those two are on same river and one of them is also coastal, so does it work partially like carthage UA, but without lighthouse?.

Intentional - rivers act as roads (just like forests for Iroquois).

yes, i get this. but i have connected capital + one coastal city with road( so proper connection) and two others connected to each other via river, but not connected with either of those two(capital). and only one thing which could connect them all in this time is lighthouse, but i dont have it. still, they are all connected. ( capital---road to city B coastal---- imaginary lighthouse connection to city C coastal------ river to city D)

You probably have a road that meets the river and completes the connection. Either that, or, I think I've seen border expansion to a river satisfy the requirement. Not sure about that though and meant to raise the question. Post a screen shot and we can see what's up.

When the world congress declares a sanction on a civ: e.g. the Ottoman empire

1. no civ can establish trade routes to the Ottomans anymore?.
2 can the Ottomans still establish trade routes to other civs?
3. can the Ottomans still establish trade routes to city states?
4. what happens to existing trade routes between the Ottomans and either civs or city states?
(from Ottoman to civ ; from civ to Ottoman ; from Ottoan to city state)

1. yes
2. no
3. yes, but only if they are not banned by another resolution
4. they get cut, if applicable by the resolution

How exactly, or maybe when, do synagogues reduce crime?

I ask because in a recent game a city had 3 unhappiness from crime, I installed a synagogue, and it didn't change. Does it kick in above a certain threshold value, or a certain era, or what?

Hi, thanks for the quick answer.

So for me as someone who only plays the germans it means I don`t have to have fear of a sanction against me.
Because the germans should only care about trade routes with city states for the production bonus of the Hanse. Until now I thought sanctions would be a nightmare for germany but as you say I would only lose the trade routes others civs had with me. Very nice.

Is there any reason why research agreements are disabled by default after installation? Is it imbalanced or something?

yep, it seems like your second part is right.

When I play Germany the AI always seems to pass city state sanctions :(. Although it is fun that the AI is smart enough to be a challenge!

Gazebo decided he wanted tech-trading by default instead, tried talking him out of it multiple times but here we are.
Imho research-agreements are a lot more balanced than tech-trading, but you should probably not have both activated at the same time.

I didnt decide that, Putmalk did. C4DF is his and I respect his wishes. Take it up with him. :)

Yeah, that's probably the situation I was thinking of. It looks like it considers the whole tile to be "river", even if graphically it looks disconnected. It comes up more often with map scripts that generate an abundance of shorter rivers. Definitely a thing to be aware of when planning your early cities.

Yes, you can send spies to CS to perform 'coups d'etat'. This works like a small Great Diplomat action: gives you influence with the CS and reduces other's. And you forget to write that the can also stay in one of your cities to counter foreign spies.

Hi, does anyone know how to change my setup so that Civ 5 launches either as 1.) only part of my laptop screen (not on the whole screen) or 2.) with the "Sid Meire's Civilization V (Dx11)" on top of the screen? (see attachment) I have Windows 8.

Thank you!
