Quot Capita

Are you going to add Afforess' modcomp Advanced Unit Automations? Because I will definitely play this mod along with other mod(s) that already/will have AUA in :). This mod is one of my few favorite mods but I can no longer really play a mod without these features in: BUG with BULL and AUA. The other features just make a specific mod stand out for itself :).

Hi there! I've just tried the mod and i love it, but have one qustion: how bad are MAF-s with this one. Vanilla BTS i can play on biggest map with max civs, no MAF-s whatsoever, but ROM for example crashes every turn in the industrial era if i play on a bigger map than large with more than 15 civs. So how is it with this one?

edit: also, is there a large or huge earth map for this mod?

@os79: I'm aware of AUA, and also that Afforess will update it to a new version. If it reaches a mature stage, I'll consider adding it.

@guczy: You should be aware of the fact that (unless using a 64bit OS and patching the Civ exe to use the extended memory) you are going to experience MAFs on large/huge maps with lots of civs with mods that add art. The good news is that I'm doing everything I can to optimize the art I add. But stopping MAFs while adding art is impossible.
Ronyboss did some excellent Earth maps, I believe he's currently working on a large/huge Earth map now.

News about the new version:

I've been working hard on the new version, incorporating the newest RevDCM (from svn) with the newest BetterAI (1.01) and the newest BULL revision, plus the newest BUG revision.
I've also added Varietas Delectat v9.2.
I'm currently checking some problems with the Project loading fix, but I believe I've found the problem.
Also, I want to squash some more errors reported for v6.0 (Limited Religions, etc).
Good news is that the RevDCM options seems to work correctly again with the new merge.

So to cut it short: you can expect good things soon! ;)

avain, that is good news! :)

Sorry to bother you with this (again), but I am not sure if you saw my post. Did you find time to have a look at the Black Ops mod (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=336721)? I think it would be an awesome addition to QC. What do you think of it?

Oh, you are not bothering me and sorry for not answering yet: I know the mod, it seems to have some really nice elements. But first I want to stabilize the game as is, because this latest will be a huge merge, and if everything is rock stable, then I can think about adding new content that is this extensive.

Afforess already said it is mature. Don't misunderstand the appearances of the other posters who messed up merge :). Plus, if someone don't do search string for Afforess' AUA from AND SVN, which I have myself, I will go ahead and do the search and make a copy of these files and post to AUA thread.
Other than that, the modcomp itself is 99.9% stable. The .1% that is potentially unstable is weird occurrence that Cybah reported being as it is in a very late game. Any other mess up is not fault of the modcomp. It is an addition of more automated functions after all, nothing more. Perhaps a bit of tweakings of AI tactical skills, but that's it.

This is music to my ears.

Without Advanced Unit Automations, no, it isn't a music to me :). Until this mod incorporate AUA, it is doomed to be a obsolete mod, IMO :D.

What is that mod you keep referring to? I'm not saying it's a bad component, but even if it isn't included in the next version, I would still play QC - obsolete or not. I hope AUA ends up being in the next version of QC though, if you feel so strongly about it.

Here you go :).

EDIT: Honestly, there are only two modcomps that would make a mod playable to me: AUA and BUG WITH BULL :D. Then the rest of modpack can be different as far as I'm concerned. That's the point anyway because AND is unique in its own right. QC is unique in its own. But without these two modcomps, there is no point for me to play :).
Of course, I may have a lot stronger motivation because I have a low vision and these two modcomps help a lot :).

I don't like AUA that much

Of course I agree that it has some good features, but it is not necessary at all.
Many players prefer micromanagement than automated units.

Yeah, AUA is pointless.
You shouldn't -ever- automate your units, so having a mod that slightly improves their abilitiy to do something that is dumb to do to begin with is just... well, kinda dumb.

That is offensive, mister.

Taking offense does not invalidate what he said, just in case you were trying to imply that.
If your turns start taking very long because of the number of units you control you should try to improve your unit handling, not hand it over to the AI.

This. Even with AUA, automated AI is... really, really dumb. If you feel the need to automate, you should instead just practise getting better at unit management. I don't mean to offend, I'm just saying you need to work on improvement in that area.
Saying Quot Capita is on the road to obsoletion because it doesn't contain a mod whose sole purpose is to assist in something you shouldn't be doing is just silly.

Guys, don't kill each other.
While I too don't see the point of a mod like AUA, I suppose it can be useful for people (os79 claims he has a low vision).
The real show stopper for me is of course any bug/performance issue. So I'm still waiting for Afforess to update his mod and wait for the replies.

On a brighter note, I managed to squash the modular loading bug for the projects, squashed almost all bugs reported by you, guys.

Here's what I have already done:
CHANGELOG

v7.0
- merged RevDCM_rev522 + BetterAI_rev586 + BULL_rev200
- added Varietas Delectat v9.2
- added Europe and Earth maps for QC by Ronyboss
- added Thomas SG's solution to make the Manhattan Project a National Project and to allow nukes for a single civ
- removed some terrainImpassables from Gorillas (thx riddleofsteel)
- Pioneer Aviation set to Industrial Era, Radar and Ceramic Armour set to Modern Era (thx NDCSPURS)
- Prototyping does not give Nukes anymore (thx vivictius) (BTW, no more sea units if capital is not coastal)

I still need to do some minor update to BetterAI to be fully 1.01, and check the Limited Religions bug.
If you still have some errors not listed here, it is now the best time to share it with me ;)

Does Choose Religions work now (I mean, will it in 7.0)?
And, any word on including the rest of the Leaders of VD? It's been asked several times in this thread.
