Seriously, learn to hiss. It's a legitimate part of verbal cat language, and if you do it with the right "accent", the cats will pay attention. If Maddy did that to me, I'd hiss at her and she would stop what she was doing immediately.

The cat in this video looks almost identical to Maddy. The chair is somewhat similar to the one I'm sitting on now. But I'm not the person who shot the video and the human voice isn't mine.

You're gonna hiss at me? Well, this cat who is standing in for Maddy has some words right back:

Note that this cat is seriously pissed off (probably from fear and nervousness). Also note how the tongue curls in on each side. That's how you tell the difference between a picture of a cat who is hissing and one who is yawning. The yawning cat's tongue curls at the tip, not the sides.
