It's annoying when you find a program that does what you want and the user interface is just terrible to use. I wish more software developers learned a few things about good user-interface design.

I hate GUI, give me my terminal back!

There's nothing stopping you from searching for an appropriate command-line tool to do what you want.

I thought you were there to dance.

That's one part :mischief:.

Let's hope that I meet any of them this weekend just by chance (because that also didn't out last weekend).

Oh yeah, so freakin' annoying (not the only one though; also applies to databases; interfaces can be so hideous that you just don't want to use it)
Sort of related: Someone said if your programmer is doing your GUI, then you're doing something wrong, so your complaint doesn't make too much sense ^^.
(there are actual GUI designers)

Well, crap. Classes for English Studies have been suspended today in protest for the English Departments understaffing problems, which have led to 12 classes beginning the term without professors and half of the current staff ranked as associates and making 200-450€.

Yeah I know - the bad GUI thing I tend to find is more common amongst small freeware programs by single-person developers, so that's sort of what I meant. (Does this even make any sense? I'm half-asleep at the moment :crazyeye:)

Political fatigue: when you've read too much political vitriol on the internet and everything seems futile and you've lost faith in everything and you're sick of it all.

I sympathize with you, brother. It's not only encouraged my cynicism, but also has desensitized me to some extent to important political issues I should be paying attention to.

Why should you be paying attention to these issues? Do you think that by paying attention you're going to affect them in some way?

Or are you talking about some extremely local and specific political issue on which you're shortly going to be making a decision on how to vote?

Or are you Barack Obama? In which case, I'm a bit worried.

I'm thinking about big "ideological" issues like abortion, support or not for Israel, isolationism vs. interventionalism, how to improve the economy, stuff like that. When I see people on the internet pissing at each other on such topics, it kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes it difficult for me to take a solid stance. Something like that.

Mr. Obama, what do you think about your persistent denial to show your birth documents, proving you're a lizard synthesised in a lab located in Israel?

So, I got a new video card last week. It was unstable and stopped working on saturday. Suspecting my power supply I replaced that. System worked fine for a couple of minutes, then I heard a grinding sound and the screen went black. After reboot I gret weirdly colored beams on the screen before it goes black again. Time to return the thing which was a PITA to get in and out of the case. When did video cards get so big ?
I haven't had a PC that can play games for a month and it didn't even make me more productive because I don't have a working PC in general and writing on the phone is hardly efficient.

Rant: I just started watching WataMote, its creeping/depressing me out how much I identify with the main character. I mean, hell, her life and thoughts were just like mine (switching the genders around mind you) in junior high and high school, and to be honest, even a little bit today. I don't really like this.

When I find (main) characters who are like me, it tends to be rather... introspective experiences. Granted, though, in my case, usually this doesn't turn out to be too bad, but it can be rather uncomfortable at times. It tends to be very uncomfortable when the characters go through experiences similar to mine... and especially on the rare occasion where their experiences are almost exactly like mine. That can be very disturbing in a way.

I've only started to pay attention to local political and issues relevant to me such as jobs and the economy.

Poland/Greek Spam? I must be out of the loop or lucky enough not to encounter them.
