Random Rants LXIX: Life is a Dismal Chore

On the one hand I'm feeling kind of restless. On the other hand, I have no ambition, there's nothing I really want to do inside, and there's a heavy storm going on outside. :hmm:

Sounds perfect for a proper house cleaning :goodjob:.

You bought a Staples chair on eBay and it was cheaper? Including the shipping? I just bought it from Staples. Shipping was free and I got it in two days. The delivery guy got slightly lost between the parking lot and the front door, but at least he didn't quibble about actually bringing it to my suite and setting down in a clear space where it'll be out of the way.

The shipping costs are why I don't order on eBay anymore unless I can't get it on Amazon. It's like the U.S. doesn't want to let so much as a molecule out of the country if it's a U.S. seller.

That's also why I've never claimed any of my tangible NaNoWriMo winner's goodies, btw. I can't afford the shipping.
No. It wasn't a Staples chair and I didn't buy it on ebay (norwegian equivalent). I wish I would've found something on Staples as it would have been more affordable. It was a fancy office furniture store with equally fancy prices. Luckily some guy was selling the same chair for half the price online and he claims it's brand new. So we'll see.
More than once I've bought something from eBay where the shipping cost more than the object itself.
Ebay shipping costs can be brutal yeah. If it's within EU then shipping can be ok. But 90% of my ebay purchases are from Chine as the Chinese government usually picks up the check for any shipping costs.

There were more than a few instances where I'd buy an old magazine for 3-5 dollars (this was back when I still ran my website), and shipping was around $10. All that for putting it between two pieces of cardboard in a manila envelope.

Is that a Norwegian aphorism? I don't get the reference.
It's an expression of surprise or astonishment. I'd translate it to "shiver me timbers" or something. Just like shiver me timbers it's somewhat outdated and awkward so usually used with ironic distancing.

You learn something new every day. :)

Hello everyone, I have anger issues. Yes it's a rant because it's exhausting mentally.

Hi CivGeneral. Have you tried any form of anger management therapy?

Aside from yelling and ranting at McCree who killed me for the 4th time?

Yeah besides yelling and ranting at McCree who killed you for the 4th time.

1. Go where nobody is playing Christmas carols (hard to do this time of year, granted).
South America. he'd have to contend with the heat but he's in the Philippines so that side's covered.

Yeah, but this is still October. For another twenty-odd hours, but then there's November.

Christmas songs rotate counter-clockwise in the southern hemisphere.

You should call someone and check.

I think you mean Tasmania. ;)

I meet an attractive woman at Starbuck's. We chat, at length, we flirt, at length...

Why, oh why did I FORGET TO GET HER NUMBER!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

:wallbash:
