I don't understand though. Why is your boss unhappy about this? How is your sickness something you are doing to him/her?!

There's so much work to be done, and so many people to do it. One less person makes more work for everyone else. There's no one they can bring in to replace me.

We left the family Christmas party at my aunts house at least half an hour later than we intended, because my father kept having to go back to the bathroom. I guess he should have stayed there even longer, as before we reached the expressway his diarrhea came back and he pooped in his pants pretty badly. The first gas station we stopped at for him to use the restroom was closed, so I had to take over driving and go to another one across the street. Their restroom was out of toilet paper. We had to buy a roll of paper towels to help clean up the mess. They were just a few minutes away from closing time when we got there, and the one employee there (who barely spoke English) was very unfriendly. Dad ended up throwing away his underwear and his pants were much too messy to put back on, so he carried them in a plastic shopping bag and left the station wearing nothing below the waist. (Thankfully the shirt I gave him as a Christmas present came down far enough to hide his privates from the front, but I think he mooned some people while setting down paper towels on the seat and getting into the car.) The stench in the car on the 40 minute drive home was almost unbearable with the windows closed, and the wind and noise were quite bothersome with them open on the expressway.

Before this I noticed he not been driving as well as usual. Twice today he left the car in neutral instead of park. One of those times it rolled down and hill and almost hit a tree before he figured out what was happening.

Well there are those who theorize that Bob Dylan backed out of accepting his Nobel Prize because he's too ill to make public appearances
