Ugh, gotta have a very uncomfortable conversation with the wife about how she needs to get her spending under control. It really is starting to get out of hand though. I added up the total of what each of us spent on non-essential stuff and in the past two weeks I have spent around $77 while my wife has spent around $330. That is absolutely ridiculous.

Dude holy crap I'm really sorry that happened. I had a pipe freeze and burst on me before and it's the worst. Here's hoping there wasn't too much damage.

Eh. It's fine. There's ice in the water but it's not completely frozen to the point that the pipes are breaking apart. Although that might happen tonight. We'll see. A repairman came by today and said he couldn't fix it until tomorrow so hopefully this is only a temporary ordeal.

Oh hey so I did pick that game back up and got really into it. The break through was that I wrote down the seed code for a favorable layout and just repeated it until I learned it. I don't have the patience to sit through 50 more runs before I beat it so I've begun mapping it out on a large paper board I found. Nerd Life
So I'm not the only one who does stuff like this for games? Maybe you can help explain to my wife why stuff like this is an important part of gaming. She always just looks over and shakes her head when she sees me working on yet another spreadsheet to help me with the new game I just bought.
By the way, the money conversation went better than expected. Seems once she saw the numbers spelled out right in front of her, she realized something had to change.

Hell no you aren't the only one. hahaha When I was really into KSP I kept my own updated spreadsheet on all the parts to min/max my designs and plan trajectory maneuvers.

I mentioned this in the IALS group (which, thanks to the migration, is vanished). It's no fun to log on one morning and find out that a fellow forum member has died, whether from illness, accident, or because they took their own life. That last one was especially awful... even though I knew this person only as a member of my Doctor Who forum, he was what my grandmother would have termed a "nice young man" - courteous, enthusiastic about Doctor Who and Tom Baker, and just a really pleasant person to have on the forum.
And then one day he didn't come back, and another Canadian forum member found his obituary online.
I've lost forum friends from as young as pre-teen to 80-something, and it is never a joke.
