Some functions are still there but they've had the tags changed so retroactively a lot of posts must probably be out of whack.

TIL that 45° + 45° = 90° when working with copper, but when working with PVC 45° + 22.5° = 90°. I also learned that PVC glue does not have cleanup instructions on the can, and that paint thinner and alcohol do not remove it from skin. PVC glue also has a very short working time, so if you #%& up your angles, then you're just plain screwed.

the coding for URLs remains the same because I can still do it by hand the exact same way I used to do it by hand.
Code:
url=
and
Code:
/url

Yes, but the old <pre> ones have been changed, for one. Also indent is implemented slightly differently. Still, everything mostly works and not that much worse than before. It is Xenforo, after all.

Edit: did you just ghost-edit that post, or did I just do something stupid inadvertently?

No, you ghost-edited my post.

In my chemical misadventures, I often got weird organic things on my skin. Probably the best solvent for stuff like that is acetone (nail polish remover). It dissolves a wide range of stuff and is practically nontoxic. If that fails, xylene will often work. It can cause some skin irritation but not too bad, in my experience.

I found some stuff that got it off. But I'm dreading the damage to my skin that is the likely result. Acetone is an option, but that's even worse for the skin.

Solvents I got a selection of on hand.

Not really if you get the right type and get used to them.

I can't recall ever needing to indent paragraphs on forums. Just leave an empty line space between paragraphs to show they're separate.

And it helps to learn BBCode so you can type it in manually. That's very helpful if something glitches, or if you're on a forum where the admins decide to do something miserly like disable the buttons for quotes (seriously, they did that on the old Television Without Pity forum; the only way to quote anyone was to type the quote tags manually, and most of the people there didn't know how to do that). We weren't even allowed avatars or sigs there.

I always type in the BBCode myself. The problem is that you need to know how it'll look when you do indents, quotes, code captions, video/image inserts, etc.

I love the option for indenting, especially if coupled with the option for justified text. It makes literature much easier to read.

But that is essentially pointless on a responsive theme. Justified text/indenting is irrelevant if the theme covers your entire resolution as the effect is marginal at best.

I must have insensitive skin, or you sensitive. I've never had a problem with acetone, or aromatics for that matter. And my skin resistance to strong acids and bases is probably something like 10 seconds.

One time I added sodium borohydride to a solution of silver nitrate. It went off like a geyser, and little black nanoparticles of elemental silver were everywhere, including my hands. I couldn't wash them off, and no solvent save nitric acid can do anything to silver. So I just applied a few drops of nitric acid directly to my skin, then washed it off really fast. Rinse and repeat, and ta-da! No more silver. And since I did it quickly, no burns either!

It's hard to work in gloves.

Even the thin medical-style gloves? Nitrile is my favorite.

As a bonus, I found I could use them to test my hydrogen cyanide detector. Just light a nitrile glove on fire, put it in a big jar with the detector, and close it up. It was easy to get several ppm of HCN.

Although most people might not want to light them on fire and release cyanide. So maybe you wouldn't see that as a bonus. ;)

I share Cutlass' aversion to gloves. They obliterate my ability to 'feel' properly. The thinner the better, but even a latex glove can ruin my tactile responsiveness.

I always have gloves around, for cleaning the litter box
