Not really a rant, but this still seems like the best place to put it:
I bought a game on Steam yesterday and my bank account was charged immediately as it normally is. However, checking my account today, the funds have been returned to my account, yet I still have access to the game on Steam. Normally, that sounds like it would be a rave because hey, free game right? I'm not happy about it though because it's weird, I don't know why it happened, and I don't know what kind of consequences will spawn from this.

I've often felt uneasy because it seems like I don't pay sales tax on steam games

Canadians are charged GST/HST when buying online from Canadian sellers or companies in Canada.
My rant: How wrong can one grocery order go? Once or twice a month I phone an order in to the store, and it's delivered the next day. This usually goes reasonably well, except this time:
1. Wrong size of milk bottles.
2. Wrong kind of milk of the stuff I did get.
3. Numerous other missing items, both food and non-food.
4. Wrong kind of Swiffer Wet Jet pads.
My lists are very orderly. I put dairy together, deli together, miscellaneous food stuff together, cleaning supplies together, etc. I specify flavors, sizes, and even describe the packaging if there could be any confusion.
Some of the stuff wasn't written down correctly by the person at the store, and some was, but I didn't get all of it.
This store doesn't have online ordering, or I'd do it that way.
I'm used to a mistake happening once in awhile, but this time they combined about 6 months' worth of mistakes all into the same order.
I'M REALLY NOT HAPPY RIGHT NOW.
Did they send in someone else's order by accident, or what?
So? They're still being sent to me.
The milk was a screwup by the person taking the order. I remember specifying the flavors and sizes (some are only available in one or the other), and she neglected to write down the sizes. There's a considerable difference between a 473 mL Cookies & Creme and a 325 mL chocolate. There is also a considerable difference between chocolate and banana.
The rest of it was one of two things:
1. The guy who did the delivery missed a couple of bags; or
2. The person who picked the order is illiterate and incapable of counting to 10.
I'm inclined to think it was #2, because otherwise it would mean they packed soap and cleaning supplies in with food, and that's not how packing is supposed to be done. I also leave instructions that if they're sold out of anything, they're to call me and let me know, so I can either ask for a rain check, make a substitution, or make do with what they do have.
I got some of what I ordered, so no, it's not that I got someone else's stuff. I just didn't get all of my stuff.
