Redbull uses sucrose and glucose, unlike the straight fructose used in other energy drinks. So only a large minority of the sugar is straight sugar. The rest is usable energy.

...er...that's all usable energy o_O.
I believe most soft drinks and energy drinks in the US use high fructose corn syrup (because it is so cheap, due largely to corn subsidies), which actually contains more glucose than fructose and so is arguably healthier than the sucrose in cane sugar.

Sucrose is just glucose and fructose weakly bound together, in a one to one ratio, and which easy breaks down into its components when exposed to an enzyme in the small intestines.

Glucose can be digested easily by every cell in the human body, whereas fructose has to be processed in the liver (much like alcohol, except that can also be digested in the brain).

Too much fructose can cause liver damage just like too much alcohol can, although it lakes a lot more of the former to do so. Needing to process both fructose an alcohol at the same time is harsher on the liver.

dc ain't that much cooler than nola. we both got humidity.

As of this minute I have the record high for June 29th in NOLA covered by six degrees and Washington DC's record by one. And today is just another ordinary day in Palmdale.

How does New Orleans become Nola?

And I think Timsupyonder always has made clear he's in Los Angeles

oh you're in california? i always associated you with new orleans...

I've got worse known associates...

And I was surprised that DC has a higher record than NOLA, at least for 6/29. Palmdale's 110F record has them both beaten handily, but DC being hotter was unexpected.

But dat humidity tho

Yeah. I've lived in some hot and humid places. Dry heat is different, but it really isn't any better. When you catch yourself feeling sympathetic, standing in the mini mart in front of the jerky display...

humidity is everything. 100 degrees in Utah is like 78 and Missouri muggy.

MjM and I were playing starcraft and I was playing embarrassingly bad.

Far and away highest rate of heat related deaths by state is Arizona. They are not known for their humidity. Just sayin'.

Its 24 degees c and 46% humidity atm and I AM MELTING!

I cant stand this, I have my tower fan for comfort but need it blowing at me 24/7.
