Yankee, you really must, for your sanity, abandon the urban environment and pack yourself and girlfriend up for a move to the rural backwoods. Or at the least the suburbs.
I never though I'd ever say this in my life but...it doesn't get any more frustrating than city life.
Detroit transportation used to be adequate. Then the cheapo city decided to cut some buses and now the routes are all slow and overcrowded.
It's filthy, it's like, no one even gets in trouble littering anymore, you couldn't possibly tell the difference.
Every idiot on the road wants to drive down the street in their cheapo car, blasting their sound systems, so that when you get to a stoplight with all the cars it sounds like the orchestra from hell. Don't let someone drive down your street, the bass vibrates your house so much that your windows might break.
Everyone and their mother has to have a dog, just the other week two little girls were walking with some pit bulls and those dogs attacked some other guy's dog. And they all bark incessantly at each other all the time, you'd think they'd develop a sense of familiarity sometime...
Everyone in public wants to talk so loudly and obnoxiously into their cell phones or with the person they're with THEN look at you like you're a stalker for taking notice of them.
There are more Coney islands and Liquor stores than police stations. And this is no lie. Police take up to hours to respond. I have two friends who claim they've been bugrlarized and called the police and NO ONE came. EVER.
Maybe it's just where I live but I have developed a pretty negative connotation of urban life. I'd give two arms and a leg to get out of here..
I hate the rural life.
I wouldn't exactly go rural. I could deal much better with suburban life. I'd think the best thing would be to LIVE outside the city but close enough to go in whenever you want. So you get all the benefit with none of the hassle. That's the kind of setup I'd like.I hate the rural life.
Yeah, NYC is many times better than Detroit and it puts my rants here to shame (most of the time anyway, there are some real legit ones rather than chance annoyances). So come here and we can both scare the tourists!
I have to admit the FedEx(UPS?) thing you posted would have ticked me off beyond all the late buses in the world.
Same here. I love big cities, I love all the activity. Rural is sooooo dull and boring.
Chicago, Sydney, Toronto.![]()
QFT.
but suburbs of TO are just as good as the city itself (well at least until you get to like Aurora or Ajax. Those are kinda crap.)
Rural life...
I would actually shoot myself.
