Random Rants VII: Why do they ALWAYS do that?!

we'll make it the same. :mischief:

Well now I may as well tell the whole story. ;)

After school was over today I wanted to take a walk, just because I felt like it. So I did, and then on the way back, somebody I knew drove by and gave me a ride back to the house. I come inside and ma is on the phone or something, and when she's done she's mad at me and wants to know why I'm late and why didn't I call or something. Now I'm 17 years old, I bring home good grades, and I've never been in trouble a day in my life, so I'm already a little pissed at the whole idea. So I tell her I just felt like taking a walk, and she seems so befuddled. Whatev, I think. I hang around a while, and then I play some TF2. While I'm playing and trying to have some "me" time, as they say, ma comes over with the phone because the school called with a recorded message about a college essay (which I have written already, btw) workshop on monday.

Now if you knew me you would know that I'm so sick and tired of all these college meetings they have me going to, so I listen for about nine seconds and then I hang up on the thing and go back to my game. Then when I finish, ma starts saying how she's so disappointed in me for hanging up on it, and then pop, who is usually so reasonable about these kinds of things, says that "we didn't raise you that way". WTH? I'm sorry, I said. "Oh you're sorry." Fine, you want me to go to the dumb thing I'll go. I hate having to do stuff like that just to get them off me. It makes me feel like some middle school kid.

So now I'm going to have to go play at the pep rally and my senior homecoming game with a bad taste in my mouth. That's what I'm mad about, so to say.

Alright.

The school lunch price hikes are just friggin' outrageous.

Four bucks for a slice of pizza? That's too much. Sometimes, it's a little english muffin or bagel pizza. That's just highway robbery. Plus, my mom or I can make them at home for free.

Three-fifty for a regular lunch. Christ, you can buy two fries for that.

Five for a salad. Christ.

I might actually plan a boycott (which might not work) until they lower prices.

wow... that is pretty bad....

I don't eat lunch at school, but I'm pretty sure lunch at our school (unless you get a double order) is always like $2.25

spoiled kids, i have eaten school's cafetaria for years (first hated it too) but once you realise that a hot meal doesn't come that easily and cheap , you will learn to appreciate it enormously.

Here in Finland it's free to eat at school! (Oh, and right wingers, please don't tell me it's not free because it's paid out of taxes, I know it already).

My high school is like a college campus (-ish); 3 main buildings, a stadium, tons of baseball fields and 4 football fields and 5 soccer fields and 2 pools. Anyways, roughly 7000 kids attend the school, and my god, buying lunch sucks ass. 3000 kids buying lunch...seriously sucks monkey balls.

Here we don't have a cafeteria, in my previous highschool I came exactly the year when it was put out of use thanks to new health regulations, and in my current one they're still building it after 1 year of crazily-slow improvement works over the whole building. :crazyeye: All in all, I haven't had any place to eat at school since the 5th grade. :p

We do have a lot of stores nearby though. :) But the food there is generally incredibly unhealthy (we have a McDonalds and another fast food, and a few regular shops where you can't really find other food than chips and sweets, since they are mostly concentrated on booze and cigarettes, which many people in my high school buy every day). :p

Wow, I thought my school was giant. We only have like 3000 students total.

Almost everybody buys lunch but they split it up into two periods so only half the kids have lunch at one time. Plus I have hour long lunches so you have plenty of time.

Who the hell buys their lunch at the school cafeteria?

I spent about $10 total through my 4 years of highschool at the cafeteria.

Your school is giant, ours is just bigger.:p

We split it up into two periods as well, but probably 1000 kids bring lunch, so that's 6000 kids buying split between two periods.

The food in my high school sucks right now because the food is made by the people in Hospitality class so it's a bunch of new people. Plus the main cook (as far as I know) looks like a neanderthal. Therefore, I do not buy food from my high school unless I feel like getting sick.

Price to buy lunch last year: $2.25
Price to buy lunch this year: $4.00
A school lunch that is tasty and affordable: Priceless

There's some things money can't buy, and that would be school lunches, they are too expensive.

And I rant that my keyboard is being stupid.

What are you guys talkign about school lunch ?
My old school (and I guas almost every other school in Germany) didn't have a cafeteria. You're supposed to bring some sandwiches.

Over here, it's the same on most high schools. Now I'm at the university and we've got grilled cheese sandwiches for €0,40 a piece :)
